The history of beer

Brewing is one of the oldest processes known to and perfected by man. As with many other items of daily use, the Chinese are credited with being the first ones to brew a type of beer called Kui . This was almost 5000 years ago. The humble beer has evolved over the years and is now brewed in almost all countries of the world.

Beer in today sworld

Depending on the region of the world where the beer originates, there are differences in the strength, taste and colour of the beer. Australia is a large producer of beer, as well as being a large consumer. As per a 2004 statistic, Australia was the fourth largest consumer of beer in the world after the Czech Republic, Ireland and Germany.

Many different types of beer are available on the market today and light beer or non-alcoholic beer has become very popular. Such beers have been popular in Europe for a long time now and the Australian market, too, is waking up to the benefits of the same.
One of the most popular ultra light beers in Europe is Schlossgold, originating in Austria, which has a fresh taste with the quality of a full-strength beer. Whilst the beer does contain 0.4 percent of alcohol, it is not liquor and is considered a non-alcoholic drink by most of the authorities. Therefore, Schlossgold non- lcoholic beer is a potential product for all retailers, small or large, without a liquor licence. You can also drink and drive with Schlossgold. It is currently available in Woolworth s supermarkets in NSW, QLD and VIC and in clubs.

Konrad Beverages is a Sydney-based company that represents various international drinks and brands in Australia. Apart from representing Schlossgold low alcohol beer, they also sell a power drink called Powerking from Holland, which is available in three flavours (Classic, Cranberry and Sugar Free) and a natural mineral water from Slovakia. The range contains a first in Australia; the natural mountain mineral waters are mixed with herbs and flowers. There are seven different flavours: Dandelion, Sage, Wild Thyme, Lemon Balm, Sparkling, Low and Still Mineral Waters. Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What are some good energy drink/ alcohol combinations besides Yager Bombs??
Does anyone know of any alcohol/energy drink combos that are good. Sick of doing the whole yager bomb routine.

    • ANSWER:
If you can get it try mixing King 888 and vodka. The silver can mixes really well with tequila. It tastes like an energy margarita. I myself prefer the gold can and vodka. It tastes like a Moscow Mule. Basically a nice ginger ale flavor with a kick. You can order cases at their website at: http://www.king888.com

  2. QUESTION:
Is it better to drink alcohol or energy drinks after a seizure?
I ahd a seizure for the first time last week and i really want to have fun tonight myfriend and i decided i should just drink energy drinks instead of alcohol but then we thought that if it increases my heart rate that might actually be worse than alcohol (which we know is a downer) is it really that bad to have a couple drinks tonight? :S
but what is worse????? ENERGY DRINKS or ALCOHOL???

    • ANSWER:
I am an epileptic. I had my first seizure at age eight.

Do not drink any alcohol or do any kind of drug you physician does not prescribe. Different epileptics have different triggers. No epileptics are immune to alcohol.

I do not know what your laws are regarding drivers licenses and seizures but you are going to have to make a decision. Ask yourself, "Do I want to be able to get drunk or have a drivers license?"

Having Epilepsy can be very difficult but there are a lot of other epileptics out there who understand.

Alcohol is worse than energy drinks. But upon your next appointment with your neurologist ask him/her if energy drinks effect the types of seizure you have.

    • ANSWER:

  5. QUESTION:
What would happen if you were to drink an energy drink, with alcohol?
This is what i hear from most college students; if i drink alcohol at a party, i will feel drowsy but if i drink an energy drink along with that, it'll keep me awake.

As of what i am thinking, i believe this is not true. Has anyone done this before? If you guys know, please tel me the symptoms. :)

    • ANSWER:
Alcohol is a depressant and thus slows down your heart rate. An energy drink, having high amounts of sugar and caffeine speeds up your heart rate. There are drinks like this such as a red bull and vodka, four loko, etc. However people who drink both excessively can experience heart problems and possibly heart attacks. This is because the heart is speeding up and slowing down at the same time than its just like lol ttyl and stops. Thats science shit right there

  6. QUESTION:
Is it ok to drink alcohol or energy drinks while breastfeeding?
My baby is 10mths but still feeds quite regularly. Sometimes i like to enjoy a couple of beers. How much alcohol content does she get through the milk? Also i like Redbull but havn't had it since feeding, as i'm unsure whether it's ok,

    • ANSWER:
      * Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) is not harmful to the nursing baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a “Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding.”
      * Many experts recommend against drinking more than 1-2 drinks per week.
      * It is recommended that nursing moms avoid breastfeeding during and for 2-3 hours after drinking (Hale 2002).
      * There is no need to pump & dump milk after drinking alcohol, other than for mom's comfort -- pumping & dumping does not speed the elimination of alcohol from the milk.
      * Alcohol does not increase milk production, and has been shown to inhibit let-down and decrease milk production (see below).
      * If you're away from your baby, try to pump as often as baby usually nurses (this is to maintain milk supply, not because of the alcohol). At the very least, pump or hand express whenever you feel uncomfortably full - this will help you to avoid plugged ducts and mastitis.

      http://www.kellymom.com/health/lifestyle/alcohol.html

Most breastfeeding mothers can drink caffeine in moderation. Some babies, particularly those under 6 months, may be more sensitive to mom's caffeine intake. Babies whose mothers avoided caffeine completely during pregnancy seem to react more to caffeine in mom's diet. Even if baby is sensitive to the caffeine now, he may not be when he's a little older -- so if you do have to stop or limit your caffeine intake, you can try again when baby is older.

  7. QUESTION:
Why is it dangerous to mix coffee with alcohol? Energy drink with alcohol?

Like drinking one after the other.

    • ANSWER:
Coffee is a stimulant, while alcohol is a depressant.

Both cause dehydration. And rather than cancelling the effects of one another, they act on different parts of your brain.

But in general, it's not exactly dangerous - just in context. For example, coffee won't help you sober up for driving, but probably make it worse. Alcohol will dull your motor skills - coffee will then keep you awake, giving you a false sense of confidence.

  8. QUESTION:
Can I drink alcohol after taking the 5 hour energy decaf drink?
I took the 5 hour energy decaf small drink about an hour ago, it wasn't working and now I want to drink alcohol now. Is this bad to do after taking the energy drink?

    • ANSWER:
stimulents can allow you to drink more and not feel as drunk, which is bad. So you have to use your head and not drink too much regardless of how you feel. If you don't get stupid with how much you drink, you should be fine drinking after an energy drink. However, I wouldn't make a habit of it: energy and bad judgement is usually a bad conbination, not to mention that you are putting two chemicals in your body that conflict with what they are trying to make your body do.

Use moderation and common sense, and as with most things, you should be fine.

  9. QUESTION:
What's worse for you or harder on your body? Getting drunk on hard alcohol or drinking one energy drink?
My boyfriend was bitching about energy drinks and not drinking them, and said that one once a month was worse for you than drinking alcohol like rum and vodka once a month. Like shots until your really drunk.
I told him he was wrong, he bet me 100.00
    Which is worse?
    Please provide why.

    • ANSWER:
Ok! Well I would say the energy drink is worst cause it makes your heart beat at a different rate & this could cause major problems, whereas tha alcohol hits your blood streams immediately but does not work as effective as the energy drink

  12. QUESTION:
Is it Harmful to Drink Alcohol and Energy Drinks Together?
If so, how harmful and what could happen if I were to do so?

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it is. Alcohol is a depressant while energy drinks are the opposite. Meaning, alcohol slows down your heart rate while energy drinks speed it up. Your heart doesn't know what to do if you drink them together because the brain sends mixed signals. Because the energy drinks and revving you up you feel less drunk and sometimes will drink more. Alcohol and energy drinks are fine together, in moderation, but too many could cause a heart attack. Limit your intake and know your limit. Remember you may be more drunk than you realize.

  40. QUESTION:
What if you consume alcohol/energy drinks when you don't KNOW that you're pregnant?
I'm talking about the first few weeks after conception. Say, if you don't know you're pregnant and drank alcohol occasionally and a few energy drinks over the week how much would it have harmed the (future) baby? How bad is it?

    • ANSWER:
The best thing is not to worry as it happens a lot. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome only really results from very heavy drinkers who go on as if nothing's changed during their pregnancy. Energy drinks contain a lot of caffeine, which can cause miscarriages. At the end of the day, if you are pregnant (you don't say if you are, or if you're just wondering What If), if either alcohol or energy drinks had caused a problem with the pregnancy, you would have an early miscarriage. Most women who over-indulge before they know that they're pregnant go on to have healthy pregnancies, so try not to worry yourself if you are pregnant.

If you're not pregnant right now, but plan to be, it's best not to consume alcohol or energy drinks until you get your period at the end of the month, when you know you're not pregnant for that month. I used to drink pretty heavily and stuck to this rule, only indulging one weekend a month while TTC. Funny thing is, the month I conceived, I totally went off the idea of alcohol altogether - then found out i was pregnant later! :-)

If you do get pregnant, obviously cut out the alcohol but also cut way back on caffeine, particularly for the first 12 weeks when you're most at risk of miscarriage. I found i went totally off tea (I never drink coffee) and Diet Coke, both of which I usually loved. It's only now that I allow myself an occasional cuppa. :-)

  41. QUESTION:
Does the monster energy drink have any alcohol/drug in it?
I felt crazy last night. I have a headache this morning and i feel depressed outta nowhere.

The sugar content of Monster energy drink poses certain side effects. It causes so-called laxative effect as well as sudden crash in energy level when sugar leaves the bloodstream. Although it is not necessarily a dangerous effect, but it can create other adverse effects.

  46. QUESTION:
    Energy drink/alcohol affection question?
I am 14 years old. Energy drinks and caffeine dont have effect on me, i dont get energized and it doesnt wake me up and i dont feel anything. Last night i drank alcohol for the first time. i took 3 or 4 shots of something stronger and a few sips of something weaker. i didnt get drunk, but i got a little tipsy for a little while. it really wasnt excited and i didnt feel much and i could think straight. i was wondering if it were possible to not be affected by alcohol?? or if it was just because it was my first time?? will it always be like this):? or will i be able to get drunk? my friends (who drink often) got really drunk and they drank the same amount as i did. WTF. i want to be able to have fun and get drunk. is it possible to not be able to?!

    • ANSWER:
No, it is not possible for alcohol to just NOT affect someone. Unless you didn't have the receptors for some reason.

It being your first time, you're more likely to be affected MORE and be more sensitive to alcohol the first time, so it's not because it's your first time. You have to drink more to be affected, most likely.

However, problems with this: more alcohol will do more to affect your behavior, but just because you have a higher tolerance doesn't mean you have a tolerance to alcohol poisoning. by the time you drink enough to get truly drunk you'll probably just puke it up anyway or get yourself in the hospital. Or you'll black out and do something you regret. Or, having a higher tolerance this early will give you a GREAT chance of developing alcoholism and ruining your life.

You're 14. you're way too young to get yourself into all this sh*t.

  48. QUESTION:
Why does it say "Do not mix with alcohol." on energy drink cans?

    • ANSWER:
Perhaps we could ask that of the late Marilyn Monroe, who allegedly mixed uppers (energy drink) with downers (alcohol).

Can you imagine what you are doing to your body? Speeding it up so you can crash it?

  49. QUESTION:
Why is it dangerous to mix alcohol with energy drinks?
I don't drink alcohol but I'm curious as to why it is dangerous. Thank you :-)

    • ANSWER:
      *ahem*
Both speed up your heart rate.
Alcohol thins out the blood while energy drinks speeds up pumping rate.

Alcohol thinning out blood speeds up the heart rate as well, but energy drinks directly speed up heart rate and muscle movement.

Thinning out blood means muscle have less sensitive nerves (hence feeling all clumsy and numb whend runk)
Energy Drinks enhances the nerves so the body is more accurate...
      both are related to heart...

and if mixing them both often enough, you end up with a heart attack. hence the "Dangerous" part... In general Energy Drinks can give you heart attacks if you drink more than 4 or 5 a day (depending on strength/brand) - Adding alcohol makes you numb and unaware of the arms and legs giving you pain from high blood pressure.

      Hope that helps.

As lamen terms Both are Uppers (example of a down is: Cigarette)

I've just finished having a V energy drink a few minutes ago & just got asked by a friend to go out tonight .

I know people have red bull & vodka all the time but the thought of that creeps me out cause it's called a " speedball cocktail " .

So it's just before 4pm now , how long should I wait until having alcohol ?
Like , how long does it take for energy drinks to get out of your system ?
I'm not paranoid , the energy drink I just had has pushed me to the absolute maximum you should have in a day .

Excuse me if I don't wanna get sick from it later .

    • ANSWER:
I would wait 30 minutes because for some people it doesn't mix well kind of like diet coke and mentos mints... if you drink that you will up-chuck, so yea... better safe then sick... I mean uhh--- sorry! =)
