Caffeine Free Energy Drink

Treating Parkinson's disease with caffeine, as discussed in medical research, has started many heated conversations. I can't help but think that caffeine has a high cost, even if it does help. Over doing caffeine takes away your dopamine, as I illustrate in my book titled, "The Truth About Caffeine". An individual will continue to want bigger quantities of caffeine, no matter what amount he started consuming. When the body gets used to caffeine it cancels its effect, like any drug, needing a growing consumption to regain its potency. Even still, a lot of caffeine can cause harm and take away life.

Caffeine is the most popular brain stimulant that helps to release dopamine, which provides motivation, alertness, and emotional highs. Similar to various drugs, caffeine is sought after for a fast surge of dopamine, as it stimulates our brain. As the chief neuro-transmitter, dopamine performs as a messenger for the brain, taking care of the vitality levels, vigilance, acuity, ability to respond, spontaneity and similar functions. Added to this, dopamine is in control of addiction to stimulates.

The body's growth of dopamine manufacturing brain cells is greatly diminished, as dopamine gets depleted with a massive consumption of caffeine. Then, comes a feeling of being exhausted and worn out. Yet, more caffeine is consumed returning the rush of vitality. This is the how the process of the reduction of dopamine nerve cell works.
Dopamine declines with age, however caffeine and other stimulants accelerate the dopamine decline and speed up the process of the brain aging. Parkinson's disease is the result of a serious reduction of dopamine nerve cell. Parkinson's disease suffers can benefit with dopamine flow stimulated by caffeine. Even so, about seventy to eighty percent of dopamine nerve cell become permanently lost previous to becoming aware of its symptoms.

Caffeine leads to the development of other health problems. As caffeine speeds up the production of our anxiety hormone, our adrenal glands become depleted. It only takes a single cup of a caffeinated drink to start the brain's pituitary glands to release a signal to at the adrenal glands to let out the hormonal anxiety chemicals cortisol and adrenalininto the bloodstream.

Whenever you're in a dangerous situation, your anxiety hormones are released, sending a blast of warmth throughout your body. The quick "pick-me-up" from caffeine actually comes from a anxiety hormone. As a effective stimulant as well as an irritant, caffeine alerts the body's defense mechanisms which send out our anxiety hormones. Later on, this defense response gets worn out.

Relentless false adrenalin sent by caffeine consumption, wears out the glands until they can not release enough hormones. The caffeine consumer starts to increase larger amounts, adding additional anxiety on the glands, that can't keep up with the demands of the addiction. As these actions continue, the results will show.

Eventually, caffeine consumers deplete their adrenal gland. Everyday overproduction of anxiety hormones, which are toxic in excess, eventually changes the blood composition, which, in turn, negatively affects proper function of the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems.

The consequences might be one or all of these situations; repeating fatigue, heightened blood sugar and insulin levels, weight gain, higher blood pressure, irritation, anxiety, depression, sleeping disorder, common viral infections, ulcers, thinning of the skin, bone loss, thyroid problems, and other disturbing messages of health deterioration.

  7. QUESTION:
What is worse for your body; Sugar-free Energy Drinks or Sugared Pops?
Pretty much everyday I have a sugar-free rockstar energy drink. My wife thinks the other chemicals and the caffeine are bad for my body, yet she drinks soda loaded with sugar.

    Which is worse?

    • ANSWER:
Hmmm... neither choice is a healthy one and it really depends on which sugar substitute you are using. It is thought that saccharin may cause cancer when used in extremely high amounts. Aspartame has been linked with the development of brain tumors. Sucralose contains a type of chlorine known to be toxic and to cause cancer. Also with the way your body works you produce insulun for both but it is only used on the sugar this causes an imbalance in your system. Me personally I think I'd take the sugared soda hopefully something like 7-up and try not to drink it more than twice a month. At least you'd have less side effects to tend with. Try the article below in the source guide.

  8. QUESTION:
She doesn't eat and all she drinks is sugar free energy drinks. What will this do to her body?
I know she has an eating disorder and that I can't help her, but I still want to know what is going on with her. I always see her drinking those energy drinks that have caffeine and taurine. I guess the reason is that she has no real energy anymore because she won't eat.

    • ANSWER:
Diabes most likely, not to mention electrolyte deficiencies (hypokalemia, etc.). Her adrenals will also start to suffer. Not to mention the horrid effect from not eating.

She needs to see a specialist who can treat the eating disorder, and needs to have blood tests done to check for imbalances.

  9. QUESTION:
What is the purpose of caffeine free drinks?
Caffeine gives you energy, why would people want to have less energy?

    • ANSWER:
Caffeine doesn't give you any energy. Only food does that. Caffeine stimulates you metabolism, so it makes you burn your enegry faster. Good for weight loss and getting yourself going in the morning. But it can be stressful for the heart, so that's why some people avoid it. And they don't like the feeling.

  10. QUESTION:
Are Sugar Free Energy Drinks bad for you?
Im addicted. I have to have one a day and limit myself to one a day. I only drink the Sugar Free Rockstar or Monster so Im not consuming too much caffeine or sugar, so is this bad?

I get up at 5am to workout/run for a hour so Im quite exhausted throughout the day and need coffee and a energy drink for a quick pick me up.

    • ANSWER:
I think if you're limiting yourself to just 1 per day and there is no sugar in them you're fine, it's just like drinking a can and a half of diet soda with caffeine. If you truly are addicted though that's not a good thing. I'd look for alternatives at that point.

Free Isotonic or Energy drinks. Which is best for stamina?
There is a free sample offered on drink-bolero.com Which type of drink is best for stamina, an energy drink with Taurine & Caffeine or an Isotonic?

    • ANSWER:
The best thing for stamina is training at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's with a lite pedal pressure. Start out with a very easy 10 min warm up ride. A high cadence and lite pedal pressure uses you slow twitch muscles that use fat as a fuel and can go for a very long time. Pedaling slow and mashing on the the pedals will wear out you legs quickly. You don't need any special isotonic drink, caffeine will help convert carbs to glycogen quicker but for long rides load up on carbs the day before. I can do a 75 mile ride on an apple, banana, and a box of Good & Plenty and a bunch of water. A Gatorade or a can of coke along the way helps.

  21. QUESTION:
What are some health risks of drinking energy drinks, [sugar-free sort]?
Okay so I've been getting a little bored of coffee, but I need something in the afternoon sometimes to get me to the gym. So I decided to look at some energy drinks to see if they come in diet varieties.. well what do you know, I found that Amp, Monster and Rockstar each came out with seemingly much healthier, low-sugar/sugar-free and low-cal versions of their energy drinks. The caffeine content, at least in the Amp seemed less than traditional coffee (around 72 grams) so right there I thought was an okay start, not to mention the petite 5 calories and no sugar/carbs. I did not see aspartame on the ingredients list, either.

They also put catchy phrases about staying lean and energized, etc. Pretty good advertising, i'd say.

So any [experts?] want to take a jab on this? Could drinking these better-for-you energy drinks regularly really pose a serious threat?
hello, i am talking about the SUGAR-FREE kind, I know the risks of all that sugar in the original stuff, which i'd never touch.

    • ANSWER:
I personally know a guy who had a minor heart attack from drinking energy drinks.. And so i have never drank one. He did drink 3 in one day but i wouldnt risk it! I'm a small person and CocaCola makes me hyper enough to last the day!! Just be smart about it!

  22. QUESTION:
ive been free from coffee and energy drinks for 5 days now. i quit cold turkey. the last 4 days my headaches w?
pretty bad. but now theyre not that bad. they come and go. ive been drinking water and only water. it seems to help. how many more days until im caffeine totally free?

  23. QUESTION:
can i drink energy drinks while taking diet pills?
im not in a super strict diet or anything, but i am taking diet pills (hydroxycut- caffeine free). however, since they are caffeine free it doesnt provide energy, so i was wondering if its okay to drink a red bull or any energy drink??

p.s. Yes i know, red bull wont help my diet, but like i said before im not in a super strict diet.
I MUST ADD.. MY DIET IS ONLY TO CUT DOWN MY APPETITE, IM 20 YRS OLD BUT EAT LIKE A REALLY HUNGRY GUY..LOL.

i just havent gotten enough sleep the past days and need some energy.

    • ANSWER:
hydroxycut cuts the water level in your system. Energy drinks provide energy through an intense amount of 3 types of caffeine, which also dehydrates you.
What is the point of taking hydroxycut if you are going to pump yourself full of all of the empty carbs from energy drinks anyways?
The bottom line here is you are going to dehydrate yourself and cause yourself to have very unhealthy crashes every day when you come down off of your energy drinks. I strongly suggest you relook at your "diet" and find out what is more important to you.
You can't have your cake and eat it too when it comes to health.

  24. QUESTION:
Are you tired and looking for an energy drink that doesn't have caffeine?
I found a new drink mix that derives it energizing effects from vitamins. Only 2 grams of sugar and no caffeine. Want a free sample? Send me an email.
Oh, and the energy last longer than a caffeine or sugar buzz and there's no crash.
If you're not interested, fine. It works for me and is not a scam. And it's not for kids under 18. When I was 16 I didn't need energy. I attended school full time, worked full time and had an active social life without energy drinks or pills. Thirty years later, my energy is not so abundant. I love coffee and tea but I have to curb my caffeine for health reasons. BHIP energy drink mix has increased my energy level and now I have an opportunity to promote a healthy alternative.

Sent message and also included a suggestion for you.

  25. QUESTION:
How do you know if a drink has caffeine?
There are drinks that I assume have caffeine (either because I know, like soda and coffee, some that I just assume, like energy drinks, and a few random others that I just know because I was told). But I'm unsure about some drinks, and I'm curious about how to find out. Usually, I know it DOESN'T have caffeine because the drink is bragging about it on the cover, but sometimes, it doesn't say it's caffeine free, but I also can't find any content on the bottle that says it does.

If a drink has caffeine, is it required to be listed anywhere on it? Where would it be: ingredients? nutrition facts? Or is it not required at all?

The particular drink I'm looking into at the moment is the Cranberry-Rasberry Fuze drinks. I've read the bottle thoroughly and don't see anything that says it does or does not have caffeine.

    • ANSWER:
In most countries it's required in the ingredients list. Cranberry-Rasberry Fuze drinks do not contain caffeine.

  30. QUESTION:
Is it good that I don't drink coffee to wake up?
I've had coffee a couple of times in my 18 year life span, I don't think it's anything special. I work in a law office where everyone has a cup of hot coffee at their desk, and I live in a home where we have multiple coffee makers and two addicted to caffeine parents (after years of drinking coffee). My question is this: I don't drink coffee nor do I purposely and specifically drink caffeine (it may be in a glass of soda or two but 95% of what I drink is caffeine free) to wake myself up or any other effect of caffeine. As I get ready for college, should I stay this way? Is it a good thing not to drink caffeine daily? Am I losing anything if I start drinking it daily? Granted, there are days I'm really tired and a little sluggish but like 80% of the time I run on my own energy as oppposed to a beverage of some sort.

    • ANSWER:
It is a very good thing that you have avoided falling into the caffeine trap. I have managed to avoid it most of my life, I find only now that I drink it occasionally. Too much caffeine has many adverse affects on your health, if you feel sluggish, eating a well balanced diet is far better for you than drinking caffeine.

  31. QUESTION:
Urgent need to beat a serious caffeine addiction! How can I do it?
I have been seriously addicted to caffeine for a good few years now, firstly it was with Red Bull and since supermarkets came out with their own brand energy drinks, I got even worse. Recently I have been relying on 1 or 2 cups of strong coffee per day to give me the caffeine "high" but I was using the coffee as a way of getting off these so-called "energy" drinks. 'Cos let's face it: Red Bull, etc. are NOT energy drinks. Caffeine does not give you energy, it just makes you feel hyper, when all is said and done caffeine is just a hyperactivity drug. The alarm bells started ringing today when I bought a pack of Pro Plus caffeine pills and took 12 at once (600 mg of caffeine). With the highest "high" I've ever had also came the lowest "low" and sick feeling. I need to live life as caffeine-free as possible. Please help me beat my addiction. I went to see my doctor but all he said was to stop buying caffeine pills and drink less coffee and tea.

  32. QUESTION:
Is it bad to drink a lot of caffeine?
Morning = I usually have 1 cup of instant coffee wih 2 big spoons of coffee.
Afternoon =Energy drink (no sugar) another cup of coffee
night = sugar free red bull or more coffee.

    i work a lot and i stdy a lot.

    • ANSWER:
Yes it is bad to have lots of caffeine. It is a drug, but a mild one at that. It has little effects until consumed in mass quantities. From what you say, I say give it all up. If you cant, then limit it to mornings only and 1-2 cups.

The healthy option is have a nutritious breakfast. Have plenty of carbohydrates to give you long term energy for the day. Apple?

  33. QUESTION:
Effects of drinking an energy drink a day?
Okay so i would like to know the negative effects of drinking an energy drink a day, the sugar free ones though. I have been for a while, but i've been drinking full sugar ones on some days and sugar free ones on others. I'm going to reduce the amount of caffeine i drink per day, most days i have 150-160mg (monster, relentless or no fear) but i want to reduce it to 75mg (red rooster light) then just quit. What are the long term effects of drinking an energy drink? i'm just worried about what damage i've done so far, i really want to give up caffeine, I don't want to do any more damage. Oh and i'm 13 if that makes a difference, energy drinks are to wake me up in the morning. I don't go hyper off them anymore. Please no rude or insulting answers, just intelligent ones. Oh and nothing stupid like "your going to die" because i know i'm not going to die. Thanks for your help.

    • ANSWER:
Really bad for your teeth. Even sugarless drinks. They wear down the enamel. Water is really the best drink. Make yourself drink it. Even if you dont like it at first. You will eventually develop a taste for it and love it.

Black coffee (no sugar) is not bad for your teeth, other than staining if you drink it excessively and never go to the dentist. But it wont harm your teeth.

  34. QUESTION:
Best and/or Healthiest Energy Drink ?
Basically, I am looking for an energy boost in some form or another. Of course in today's world it is natural for one to turn to coffee, but i hate coffee. I don't like the taste or the very many variations of mocha, frappe and what have you. Now one may turn to energy drinks. I also have another hatred in this category. Red Bull = Vodka mixed drink taste reminder. If your like me and mix Red Bull with some kind of alcohol you know that you are always going to remember the taste in your mouth the night that you threw it all back up haha.

That in turn would lead to my question; What would be the best/healthiest energy drink?
I include healthy into the equation because health is a very important area when deciding if something in the food or drink industry is the worth your time or not because odds are you will consume a lot of this type of energy drink. Sugar-free is always a plus, and a boost of vitamins and minerals are another. I've also read that lower caffeine is beneficial to overall health/performance as well. Simply put, I'm in college, I need the boost to get me through the hours upon hours of reading/studying/facebook lol.

Given these statements, perhaps some of you wonderful people out in the Yahoo Answers world could possibly lend me a hand, so to speak.

I would love to hear any suggestions, recommendations, and/or advice.

Thanks to everyone who reads/replies to my question and hopefully this will not only inform myself, but the many people who may stumble upon this topic as well.

    Thanks again!

    Caffeine Drinks in Korea?
I have been in South Korea for a few months now and I have been looking for a drink with a decent amount of caffeine the whole time, without any luck. I have tried the American drinks such as Starbucks Double Shot but I am fairly certain they are caffeine-free here (I don't feel absolutely anything from drinking one, while in America I most definitely feel it).

I also tried a Korean "energy" drink but later found out (by searching the internet) that it only has about 25mg of caffeine! (compared to Red Bull which has 80)

    Can anybody help me out?
I was talking more about drinks that I can buy at a convenience store, I should have specified. I don't like paying inflated prices for coffee every day.

    • ANSWER:
Try an energy drink called Bachus-D. It has not only caffeine but also nicotine. You can get it at any pharmacy and some convenience stores also carry it. Just go to the pharmacy and say "Bah-Kah-Su Hah-nah Joo-seyo" and they'll give you one. They usually run around 500 won or so and give you a nice little buzz.

Is there an energy burst gel for long runs (like GU) out there that does NOT contain caffeine?
I don't eat or drink anything with caffeine and haven't yet found one that's caffeine-free.
I'm trying to order gel packets in bulk online, so I can't read the packaging to see which ones have caffeine and which don't. Specific information on caffeine-free brands / flavors would be appreciated -- e.g. I was able to find out on one site that GU banana flavor doesn't have caffeine, but most other GUs (all other?) do.

    • ANSWER:
Only some of the GUs contain caffeine. Some of the Powerbar brand gels don't contain caffeine also. Same with Carb Boom. They say on the top of the packaging if they do or don't.

  42. QUESTION:
Way Too Much Monster Energy Drink...What Is It Going To Do?
My uncle has a very "addictive" personality. He does have a past of substance abuse, and in the past year has come clean from excessive use of pain killers, marijuana, and alcohol. In supplement of these past supplements, he now drinks at least 7 24 oz..that's right, I said SEVEN...cans of Monster Energy Drinks. He does drink the low calorie, sugar free ones, but they still contain 195mg of caffeine PER CAN. He has done this for over a year...almost every single day. Is he on a path to death because of this caffeine intake? Please let me know what could be going on in his body...if anything. Let me note that the only physical signs that I can see is that he has gained a lot of weight. Not sure if that applies. Thank you for helping!

    • ANSWER:
Good for your uncle! That is a major thing to do right there - not easy either.
7 energy drinks a day is not good, however. The weight gain may be an indicator of some sort of metabolic problem which may be why he is drinking so many energy drinks. I would suggest he get a simple blood workup done by his physician, and maybe throw in a thyroid function test. Drugs can cause permanent damage, and sometimes the thyroid will not function normally after quitting. This can cause low-energy and weight gain.
It is possible that he is using the energy drinks to get a "high" also. Too much caffeine can be dangerous under the right conditions... if he has heart trouble or high blood pressure, the excessive caffeine (as well as the ginseng and other ingredients in energy drinks) may cause irregular heartbeats.
Time for your uncle to get a good physical done and try to find something else to drink!
      Good luck.
      :)

  43. QUESTION:
how come caffeine doesnt really have adverse side effects with me?

  44. QUESTION:
Will this energy drink make me fatter?
It's less than 5 calories, sugar free but sweetened with sucralose. It has tons of b vitamins, super citrimax, gaurine, 100 mg of caffeine. It claims to be really healthy but is it?
It's called go girl energy drink
    Gogirlenergy.com

    • ANSWER:
      It won't make you thinner.

Studies have proven that people who drink any sort of soft drink - whether it is diet or full sugar - tend to gain more weight than those who don't drink them at all.

But that doesn't mean you'll gain weight. All those energy ingredients will certainly have you buzzing. Don't drink too much and especially not in the evening, or you'll never sleep. Also energy drinks can be dangerous when mixed with alcohol. So as with everything - in moderation is the key!

  45. QUESTION:
Where can I find Caffeine and Health questionnaire(s) with rating scales? Please help!?
For class, I have to have this information. It has to be questionnaires that contain questions about how caffeine (energy drinks, coffee, stimulant pills, etc) affects a person's health. I'm doing a research study on how caffeine affects undergraduate college students health. Therefore, I need 1 separate questionnaire and scale for caffeine and 1 separate questionnaire and scale for health.

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for this information: EBSCO Host, JSTOR, google, etc.
If anyone knows where I can find these questionnaires, PLEASE feel free to share. Thanks in advance.

  46. QUESTION:
going to stop drinking caffeine. What should I expect?
I have been drinking ~ a 12 pack of diet pepsi every day for the last 5 years. It got to the point where caffeine does nothing for me (energy wise) and I honestly could drink a can of diet pepsi 5 mins before bed and fall right asleep. I often would drink it when I woke up randomly througout the night.

I am not going to cut out soda entirely (yet) but I decided to switch from reg diet pepsi to caffeine free diet pepsi and see if I can cut out caffeine entirely for an extended period of time.

What should I expect when I stop with the caffeine influx
i know about the bad "sugar" in diet, but if I was too drink regular pepsi I would be obese beyond belief. Obesity is much worse at this point in my life than maybe cancer later...

I want to stop drinking diet pepsi, but I am kind of hooked. Goes down easy and perfect to drink with food.

Has anyone with diabetes drank the Bclear diabetes energy drink?
I got a free sample in the mail and am going to try it today. I love energy drinks but they always mess up my blood even though I give the appropriate insulin for the carbs. It says it has no caffeine, which makes no sense to me with it claiming to be an energy drink, but I was just wondering because I will get some of it if I like it when I try it if others have liked it after using it over time. Please don't say the "ask your doctor" thing, I've had type one 24 years and I eat, drink and account for everything, and I'm just wondering if it is any good. Thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
I've had the same problem and ive been diabetic for 10 years. That particualr drink seems to make my sugars alot higher, i havent figured out why. I've noticed with energy drinks my sugars rise too, which im in the same boat as you because i use insulin to cover it as well. It tastes funny to me.

I have low blood pressure and my RHR is 77. How badly is this caffeine addiction affecting me?
I wouldn't feel safe taking pills for dieting. But i do like to drink caffeine because im a "comedy stuntman" (aka FUTURE JACKASS!) and when i get the caffeine buzz going my videos are more funny and creative. But as far as dieting goes, i feel my diet is fairly good, i dont tend to overeat. And my chest feels fine when i excersize. sure i feel my heart pumping and blood flowing, but nothing abnormal.
