Energy Drinks Bad

ViSalus sells its products through a Network Marketing Internet Business, also known as multi level marketing, MLM. The attraction to MLM is usually that people have tired of their day jobs. They want more money and more time to spend with family and loved ones. ViSalus stands by it's claim that they can facilitate this dream and make it a reality. You could call it your new ViSalus reality. The products focus on nutrition and weight management. The name ViSalus is derived from Vi, Latin for life and Salus -which means health and prosperity. Their mission is to provide its distributors with a healthy life full of prosperity.

The weight management products help dieters in three ways. First, the dieters eat right and cut calories, boost metabolism and increase energy, and suppress hunger to reduce dieter's stress level. These weight management products may come in kits like the ViSalus TSS Replenish Kit that provides 30 servings of their Vi-Shape nutritional shake, one bottle of Vi-Slim tablets and a box of the clear control drink mix. Nutritional cookies are also available. One cookie equals a snack, and two cookies equal a meal.

There is a unique product called ViSalus Body, which offers challenge to users and an opportunity to win prizes. They are available in four different kits. For maximum and quick results, try the Transformation Kit meant to show dramatic results in just 90 days.

In its nutrition line ViSalus has vitamins and minerals that contain 26 super-charged anti-oxidants and a patented energy and anti-aging complex. To support the immune system, they offer Vimmunity. To promote the health of the vascular system and heart health, the Omega Vitals will address these concerns. To understand the science behind the products read the Wellness Tools, which explain how each product works.

To boost the metabolism and energy levels, they also promote performance products. One example is the ViSalus Lemon Lift, which fights daytime sleepiness while boosting ones energy level. This specific product is also available in raspberry to provide you with some variety.

For people who want to become distributors there is the ViSalus Executive Success System (ESS) that ships with product to sample, share or sell. It is a good idea for distributors to use the product themselves to get to know the product and indicate belief in its benefits. Along with the ESS, their distributors can buy (in packs of 25) the ViSalus magazine called "Success".

While ViSalus is proud of its products, the MLM ViSalus Business system which is available for purchase online, is also a significant source of revenue for the company. To provide incentive to its distributors, They offer prizes and events. A major prize and event happens when these distributors become a member of the "Bimmer Club". When a ViSalus distributor reaches the level of Regional Director, he or she qualifies for membership in the Bimmer Club and becomes eligible for a BMW bonus. Check out the compensation plan on its Web site to get all the details if a BMW is your heart's desire.

Lastly, Their giving program is also explained on its Web site, which is intended to Feed hungry children. Another way it gives back to the community is by matching donations made by its distributors. All this giving has the great side effect of increasing the visibility of the company of course. The ViSalus Network Marketing Internet Business could be just what you need to make your dreams come true and to build your new ViSalus reality -especially when used with alead generation system to assure continual interest for the opportunity and/or the products.

Is monster energy drinks really bad for you? Or an othere energy drink? They say that it kills your white blood cells an your at greater risk for canceer. Is that true?

    • ANSWER:

  4. QUESTION:
why are energy drinks bad for you?
i need energy drinks cuz i need energy every day, but i heard it is bad for your body, i kno it has alot of sugar, but i need the energy, im 13 i always go 2 skool tired and ever since i dranked a rockstar i have been up and ready for skool, should i keep drinking energy drinks?

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like everybody that's answered so far pretty much agrees that you shouldn't be drinking energy drinks. It does sound like you are not getting enough vitamins, so try taking a teen multivitamin, as well as eating more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, cutting back on sugary stuff (candy, soda, gum, etc.), and get more exercise (try playing Dance Dance Revolution if you don't want to give up your video games). Drink more water, for you probably about 5 20-oz. bottles a day (just grab one and keep refilling it at water fountains). The water thing is a very hard habit to get into, but after a week or two you will start to crave water like it's crack. Try apples, oranges, and nuts for snacks, eat a bowl of oatmeal or grits for breakfast, a ham or turkey sandwich on wheat or whole-grain white bread for lunch (don't drench the sandwich in mayo or mustard or whatever you put on it), and eat some grilled chicken with whole kernel corn or some type of beans, a dinner roll, and broccoli for dinner (just a sample menu).
Another thing that you're probably not going to like (because i KNOW I didn't in high school) is GET MORE SLEEP. Go to bed an hour or two earlier and wake up half and hour earlier and EAT BREAKFAST.
I'm not going to lie; it is extremely hard to get into habits like these, but it's well worth it.
And to answer your question about energy drinks, they are not regulated by the FDA because they are considered to be in a category of supplements; that is, they are generally "natural" medicines that don't make any claims about curing any disease/disorder/condition. They are loaded with unnecessary amounts of caffeine, guarana and taurine (both of which contain very high amounts of caffeine), sugar, and food additives. Sugar (in anything; not just energy drinks) causes all kinds of wonderful problems, mainly making your pancreas work overtime to try to regulate your blood sugar levels, which is why diabetics can't have sugar (their pancreas doesn't work right; it won't produce enough insulin to get rid of all the sugar in your blood). This makes you gain weight, makes your heart work harder to pump your thickened blood (which causes major heart problems that you don't notice now, but you definitely will later on in life), and makes you fatigued (way beyond tired), among other problems that you can read about elsewhere (try the Mayo Clinic website--very good source).
So in the end, do what you parents, doctors, teachers, etc. have been telling you for years: eat your fruits and veggies, exercise, drink more water, and cut the crap (out of your diet and your attitude).

*note to you*: as a 21-year-old college student that just recently took this advice to heart, i can definitely tell you that they were right all along. . .*darn it*.

  5. QUESTION:
Is consuming 2 litres of energy drinks bad for you?
Maybe once every 2 weekends ill have about 400-500ml of vodka with about 2 litres of red bull - like energy drinks. Is that bad for you?

    • ANSWER:
It depends upon how much water you are drinking. If you are strickly drinking the redbull and vodkas,
that is a recipe for adrenal and kidney failure, Not to mention stroke or at the very least highblood pressure. If you are consuming a litre or more of water with every litre of redbull it will take alot longer for the negative effects to catch up with you. Try mixing your vodka redbulls about 3 parts vodka one part redbull. and have a water in between each Mixed drink. You will get more bang for your buck without the damaging effects of the redbull. And because of the water you will get less dehydrated and you wont have that nasty hangover in the morning.

  6. QUESTION:
are energy drinks bad for me?
I usually don't get enough sleep because I am really busy and I drink a Red Bull or a Blue Monster every day because I am really tired most of the time. I don't exercise that much though. Are energy drinks bad for my health?

    • ANSWER:
      Yes.

There is alot of sugar and empty calories in energy drinks. Too much sugar can dehydrate you, which will make you feel more tired (that's the crash you might feel). Additionally, if you don't drink them you will be able to get more sleep which will also help you feel better.

You'd be surprised, but adding activity to your day will increase your energy also. Instead of calling a co-worker, walk down the hallway. Use stairs instead of the elevator. Increasing your activity will help to increase your energy.

  7. QUESTION:
How are energy drinks bad for you?
I know to much of anything is bad. What if you needed the energy to pull like a triple shift and you drank 2 over night at what point is it to much? I know most of the vitamins in Monster are way more than the total daily value but dont you just push the access out in the toilet. Whats yalls thoughts?

    • ANSWER:
Actually you only "push excess vitamin C out the toilet," but they are bad because of all the empty calories from sugar and caffeine is bad for you

  8. QUESTION:
Is monster energy drinks bad for ur health if you drink them all the time?
Every morning I drink an energy drink. Sometimes if I miss a day or two. I will get bad headaches. Then, I will also get some chest pain. But, that could be from something else. What do u think?

    • ANSWER:
Yes! Stop drinking them so often! Sheesh. Listen. I used to drink soda every single day. I didn't skip a beat unless we ran out and I had to wait a day or two. It was awful. I kept breaking out, ran out of energy quicker. But the worst part of it was after almost a full year, I developed heart problems. Heart Palpitations and an Irregular heartbeat, in fact, which signaled a weak heart.

      Because. Of Soda.

I quit the soda drinking habit, and I'm pretty darn healthy, now.

Now, Energy Drinks are different from soda. They're much more -dangerous-. They have so many more ingredients packed in there, the symptoms can be much more severe. If you keep drinking them like you are the following will happen. WILL. Not maybe, will. For sure. Don't know when, but they will.

1- Heart Problems. Lord only knows what those drinks are doing to your intestinal system, it's only a matter of time before all of that adrenaline affects your heart and brain.

2- Kidney Stones. Know what those are? They're painful, that's what they are. Several cases have been documented about people who drink energy drinks developing kidney stones.

3- I can't say for certain, but I'd say those headaches and chest pains are related to your obsessive drinking of energy drinks.

It's okay to have one -once in a while-. Energy Drinks aren't made to be a daily thing, hon. They're made to be a once-in-a-while pick-me-up. A couple, meaning two, a week is a healthy amount, I'd say, but not one every day or every other day.

Energy drinks, completely packed with lots of sugar, vitamins, caffeine, and other nutrients. As of right now im suffering from a fever which I've had for several days, would an energy drink possibly help me fight the sickness?

    • ANSWER:
ok so i signed in to answer your question because i was SURE that they were bad for you because of unnecessary chemicals that your body can't handle while you're fighting an infection (a fever means you're fighting a sickness).

      BUT

i did my research and checked my sources and they are not so bad for you.

caffeine is not good for your body ever really, but there's not so much of it to greatly affect you unless you drink a ton of it.

taurine is an amino acid that is produced naturally in your body which can actually benefit you most while you're sick.

gaurana is a natural plant from south africa which contains high amounts of caffeine (still a natural thing and safe in moderation).

ginseng is a healthy herb that increases altertness and energy.

ginko bloba is also a natural herb that helps with memory and concentration.

l-carintine is another safe amino acid which is naturally produced by your body.

  21. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
Not in moderation. Is a cup of coffee bad for you? No,but in excess, yes...if you start getting irregular heart rates, or get dizzy when standing up, shortness of breath when it shouldn't occur, then maybe cut back a little. But one a day shouldn't hurt you.

  22. QUESTION:
Are energy drinks bad for you? How are they good for you?
I have tons of work to do next week because I will get a huge assignment. I will need to be up late so I was wondering about the health effects of energy drinks like Red Bull, Monster, etc.

People tell me it keeps them wide awake all night. I don't really support coffee that much, so I was thinking these drinks.

    • ANSWER:
They aren't that bad, depending on what ones you get.

I will get a list of health effects from active ingredients in the ones I recommend and post them here.

These are common ingredients found in: Amp, Monster and Rockstar. Not included is Vitamin B.

l carnitine - helps burn fat

inositol - Inositol is said to promote healthy hair, hair growth, and helps in controlling estrogen levels and may assist in preventing breast lumps.

taurine - Recent studies show that taurine supplements taken by mice on a high-fat diet reduced their overall weight.

Guarana - used as an ingredient in soft drinks and energy drinks and separately as a dietary supplement to promote health and weight lossl

Ginkgo Biloba -commonly added to energy drinks, but the amount is typically so low it does not produce a noticeable effect, except perhaps via a placebo effect from Ginkgo being listed on the label. May have some undesirable effects, especially for individuals with blood circulation disorders and those taking anti-coagulants such as aspirin and warfarin,

Caffeine - Known to be bad for your health in large doses.

What I recommend is getting a product called Sublingual B Total. It has a large amount of Vitamin B, which will dramatically boost your energy. Also, coffee is a lot healthier than these energy drinks, so I recommend if possible(if you really need the caffeine) to drink that. If you must drink them, go for the Lo-Carb. Splenda in moderation is healthier than sugar.

Also, while someone said something about caffeine and all the crap in energy drinks as "chemicals," basically every active ingredient is natural. Things like the preservatives are basically man-made though. Cocaine is natural, but you wouldnt ingest that would you?

  24. QUESTION:
in what way are energy drinks bad for you?
ive heard from many different people that energy drinks are bad for u but when i ask why? the never really give me a satisfiying answer.

    • ANSWER:
rot teeth due to acidic juice and massively high sugar levels. cause imbalance in sugar levels that gives you a big energy lift that doesn't last long and you probably won't use up all of that energy so you may put on weight. this sort of thing contributes to developing type II diabetes. they nearly all contain caffeine which can cause arrhythmia of the heart and nervousness, increased urine output and dehydration. they can also contain a whole load of artificial things that serve all sorts of purposes but they all vary widely so I won't go into those.

I still drink them but just not too often.

  28. QUESTION:
Are energy drinks bad for you in anyway?
I have one everytime I go to work. (3-4 times a week) BlueBerry JOLT!! I feel great, no crashes or anything? Do energy drinks have any negative short/long term side affects? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
The long-term effects of energy drink ingredients are that you may be addicted of this drink & addiction of any thing is harmful. In these types of drinks it has not been mention any where that whether any medical conditions or related prescription medication will react with them. Energy drinks must be taken properly because the ingredients used in it are powerful enough to affect your system & body.
Ingredients used in these drinks can affect your heartbeat and blood pressure. This arouses awareness from medical specialists who have conducted studies about the effects of energy drinks. However it doesn't means that harmful effects of these types of drinks can't be prevented. The problem is only how to drink & in what amount that can be easily digested. Don't ever try to make energy drink an alternative for the lost water in the system while doing exercise because the caffeine in the energy drink can leave a dehydrating effect on your body. You should prefer to have something natural during exercises. The most important point is that you should never combine energy drinks with alcohol because energy drink is a stimulant while alcohol is a depressant. You can imagine yourself the contrasting effect that this combination can bring in your system.

  29. QUESTION:
Are Sugar Free Energy Drinks bad for you?
Im addicted. I have to have one a day and limit myself to one a day. I only drink the Sugar Free Rockstar or Monster so Im not consuming too much caffeine or sugar, so is this bad?

I get up at 5am to workout/run for a hour so Im quite exhausted throughout the day and need coffee and a energy drink for a quick pick me up.

    • ANSWER:
I think if you're limiting yourself to just 1 per day and there is no sugar in them you're fine, it's just like drinking a can and a half of diet soda with caffeine. If you truly are addicted though that's not a good thing. I'd look for alternatives at that point.

They just unnaturally mess with you're system. To force your body to do something through a substance isn't a good thing. Well i guess unless you're sick then meds are fine.

It messes with you're heart rate and, for energy drinks, they have a lot of sugar so that's bad for you too.

  33. QUESTION:
How bad are energy drinks for your health?
My friends, who are 13, are in love with Amp, Nos, and monster. When they get those I always get Mountain dew. But aren't those drinks bad for your hearth especially? What are the side-affects of their obsession with them?

    • ANSWER:
They have a bunch of chemicals in them that are not good for you. Plus, the things they put in there that are supposed to give you energy actually put extra stress on your heart. It's best to just stay away from them, especially at your age when you're still growing.

      Hope this helps!

  34. QUESTION:
Are energy drinks bad to drink on a daily basis?
If they are what if you run a few miles every few days, would they still be bad for daily use? By this i mean would they make you fat?

    • ANSWER:

  35. QUESTION:
Are 5 hour energy and energy drinks bad for you?
I've never heard from any official source that it's not ok, but my mom and a friends mom both swear that they're bad for your heart and just "not good for you". The worst thing I've heard of is a niacin flush. Also, why do you have to be 18 to buy them?

    • ANSWER:
The people that say they're bad for you are the same people that say sodas are bad for you. Or that candy will cause diabetes. Energy drinks are usually just sugar, caffeine and B vitamins. Some of them have some things that they list on the back (like ginseng) that has no nutritional facts available, but they're harmless. I've looked them up before. The reason that some areas require you to be 18 is that there's a lot of caffeine in these things and that can actually make kids sick. This is only dangerous if someone is outside all day because caffeine will mess you up if you're dehydrated. Kids generally don't pay attention to things like that. As far as caffeine being bad for you, it's really not unless you have a medical condition that restricts it from your diet. But I can list that medical problem about anything. Just avoid food you're not supposed to have. Example: Lactose intolerant people need to avoid dairy. It's bad for them, but not for anyone else. I actually find it funny that the people that say that energy drinks are bad are busy sucking down coffee. That's got caffeine... and unless they drink it black and bitter, it has sugar that they mixed in. Vitamin B in the drinks? Okay... that one I can understand. Some people will get a headache or stomachache if they get too much vitamin B. But that goes back to the medical problem statement above. If it makes you sick, keep it out of your diet. If not, it's fair game to eat or drink it.

Caffeine - it's in coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate
Sugar - dare you to find some food that doesn't have any
B vitamins - only bad if you get a headache

Seriously, look at the people that are saying it's bad for you. Unless they have a MD or DO following their name, they can't really say anything. Heck, I was in medical school for a few years. Doctors, residents, interns and students are knocking those things back like you wouldn't believe.

As for the people that start in on the evils of sugar... Have fun with them like I did. Go through all the food in their house and start setting aside anything that contains it. Glucose, fructose, lactose, corn syrup... The only foods that you'll find without it are the ones that are fresh and unprocessed like meat or produce. Every single person I've done this to has been very careful to never say anything in my presence again because I'm more than happy to tell everyone within earshot all the thing's I've found containing sugar. Evil, horrible, deady sugar... it's everywhere.

  36. QUESTION:
How Energy Drinks Bad For You?
So I am writing an article for my high school's magazine (CCA's "pulse") and my big question for my article is "why/how are energy drinks bad for you?" So please answer and be specific on why they are bad or not bad. Also give good sources like doctors, ect.
    Thanks :D

    • ANSWER:
They are high in calories and sugar. They give you an energy boost and then you crash later. It's just a quick fix that doesn't last long and then you are even tireder then before you drank the energy drink. They also raise your heart rate too much....my friend went to the hospital because his heart rate went up so high....the doctors said he can't drink them anymore.

  37. QUESTION:
Why are energy drinks so bad?
So I drink energy drinks maybe once a week. Some of my friends say energy drinks are so bad for you(people in general), some say its the sugar, caffeine, or the Guarana Extract. I asked them why it is so bad but they gave me the answer "It's bad for you"(That's not a real answer). So what is so bad about these energy drinks if you dont drink them while or before you workout?
The only time i drink it more than once is during a test like finals.

    • ANSWER:
Once a week shouldn't harm you, heck 3 times a week would be okay. Just be sure not to have it like water, and drink it day after day. I'm guessing you have Monster/Red Bull/Rock Star. Try the lower calorie/no sugar version of them. This way your body wouldn't be chocked up full of sugar and carbohydrates. If your using that for training, not a good Idea. Have a protein bar/protein shake and then work out for about 10 minutes. You will have energy for the rest of your day, no doubt. If it works for me, it should work for you. Back to the question: No they're not bad for ya but too much will be bad. I never had a energy drink like those, because well, I don't use energy drinks. Actually Gatorade/Powerade is the perfect energy drink for me. But everyone's different. Don't drink it too much and you'll be good.

  38. QUESTION:
How are energy drinks actually bad for your health?
I always tend to be drinking all kinds of energy drinks but is it really that bad for your health??????????

    • ANSWER:
It's not. all the ingredients in there are safe in the short run and long run. If it didn't then FDA wouldn't have passed it. Taurine actually helps with your heart and there are other good stuff. The only down side is You might get diabetes in the old age.

  39. QUESTION:
Exactly how are energy drinks bad for you?
Everyday before I go to class I get an monster to keep me up. Is this bad?

    • ANSWER:
It has caffeine~a lot You need to ease up or switch to a decaffeinated drink because you will start showing health conditions. Two heart attacks at the age of 27 is unheard of, but because I drank so much coffee and was addicted to caffeine I had them.:( Monster might be good in 'keeping you up' when you have to cram tho'!

  40. QUESTION:
    why are energy drinks bad?
why are energy drinks bad for you?

say a: MONSTER it says it has all vitamins in it and other energy drinks

if there is vitamins y do they say i bad 4 u?

    • ANSWER:
Because those drinks raise your heart rate and blood pressure and they contain a lot of caffeine which keep you awake. So you have a false sense of being alert and make you think that the drinks is good for you. They, technically - DO give you energy but in very high dose and very fast but the sugar and energy level also drops VERY fast too. Your body does not cope well with extreme fluctuation of brain and heart function like what these drinks give you.

The vitamins are there but it DOES NOT make you healthy. You need more nutrients than what the drink gives you and you get this by eating regular meals.

It is OK to drink it, but NOT in large amount and over long period. It is advertised as if these drinks are soft drinks.. but people need to realise that they ARE NOT.
Personally - I wouldn't recommend anyone under 15 years old to drink it. But that is my opinion. I think anyone under that age drinking it - they have a higher chance of their heart giving out.

      My opinion.
      Thanks for asking

  41. QUESTION:
Are Sugar free energy drinks bad or good?
okay so my mom drinks a No fear energy drink like everyday...they are "sugar free" but i dont think "sugar free" is better anyway, its still super bad for her. She doesn't believe me or anyone who tells her that they are bad cause they never say why it is so bad. so PLEASE tell me some bad things about energy drinks, or if they are fine then tell me that too!
    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
If on the ingredient label, any sweeteners labeled as aspartame, sucralose, or the like is on there, they are bad for you. I can't remember which is which, but aspartame is either the same as Sweet N Low or Nutrisweet. Sucralose is SPLENDA. SPLENDA is the newest sweetener on the market, but do you want to know what SPLENDA really is? It's chlorinated sugar. Just like table salt is chlorine and sodium, SPLENDA is chlorine and and sugar. I used to eat that stuff from the packet cuz I loved the taste so much when I would go to restaurants until I found out what it was made from. The best sweetener out there is called Stevia. It's all natural, just like sugar, but it has zero calories. It's made from the leaves of the Stevia plant. You can find it at health food stores. It has a different taste than sugar, but it's the safest sweetener out there that also has zero calories unlike sugar.

  42. QUESTION:
Why are energy drinks bad for you?
With as many reasons as possible, please explain why energy drinks (such as monster) are not good for you. 10 easy points.

    • ANSWER:
Generally energy drinks include methylxanthines (including caffeine), B vitamins, and herbs. Other common ingredients are guarana, which has a high caffeine content, and taurine, plus various forms of ginseng, maltodextrin, carbonated water, inositol, carnitine, creatine, glucuronolactone and ginkgo biloba. Some contain high levels of sugar, and many brands also offer artificially-sweetened 'diet' versions. The central ingredient in most energy drinks is caffeine, the same stimulant found in coffee or tea, often in the form of guarana or yerba mate.

The average 237 milliliter (8 fluid ounce) energy drink has about 80 mg of caffeine, with 480 mL (16 fl. oz.) drinks containing around 150 mg.

      Cons:

Caution is warranted even for healthy adults who choose to consume energy beverages. Consumption of a single energy beverage will not lead to excessive caffeine intake; however, consumption of two or more beverages in a single day can. Other stimulants such as ginseng are often added to energy beverages and may enhance the effects of caffeine, and ingredients such as guarana themselves contain caffeine. Adverse effects associated with caffeine consumption in amounts greater than 400 mg include nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, increased urination, abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmia), decreased bone levels, and stomach upset. The concentration of sugar in a sports drink is recommended to be 6-7% carbohydrate to allow maximum absorption and minimize spikes and crashes in blood sugar. Higher concentrations such as those seen in energy drinks will slow fluid absorption into the blood and energy system, increasing the possibility of dehydration. When a high level of sugar is in the blood stream the body cannot get the water into the cells that it needs because the water is busy trying to dilute concentration of sugar in the blood stream. The actual number of people suffering from adverse effects is difficult to measure since many cases go unreported.

In the United States, energy drinks have been linked with reports of nausea, abnormal heart rhythms and emergency room visits. The drinks may cause seizures due to the "crash" following the energy high that occurs after consumption.Caffeine dosage is not required to be on the product label for food in the United States, unlike drugs, but some advocates are urging the FDA to change this practice.

Until 2008, France banned the popular energy drink Red Bull after the death of eighteen-year-old Irish athlete Ross Cooney, who died as a result of playing a basketball game after consuming four cans of the drink. The French Scientific Committee (J.D. Birkel) concluded that Red Bull has excessive amounts of caffeine. Denmark also banned Red Bull. Britain investigated the drink, but only issued a warning against its use by pregnant women and children.

  46. QUESTION:
How exactly are monster energy drinks bad for you?
I've done research on all the vitamins they put in and all these vitamins seem essential for a healthy person.
Now besides the obvious fact that it's loaded with sugar, what is it in the drink that makes consuming it horrible for you?

cite your sources and back up your reasons with proof and logical explaination.

ps. Who can prove that there's whale sperm in this drink too? cite that source for sure.

    • ANSWER:
      1. Caffeine- Caffeine, especially artificially enhanced as well as purely synthetic, is bad for you in the large amounts it comes in one can of Original Monster drink. (Don't even get me started on the coffee and energy shot versions) Caffeine is a stimulant, and with all stimulants after the first buzz you "hit the wall" so to speak. But stimulants in the long term can result in depression, headaches, migraines, lethargy, all that good stuff. Caffeine will also sky rocket your blood pressure resulting in sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders, and chronic high blood pressure.
By the way a person shouldn’t have any caffeine per day but if you do have caffeine you should have no more than 200mg. There are 7400mg of caffeine in each can of Original Monster.

      2. Internal Clock- All this caffeine, will definitely screw with your body's internal clock. When your internal clock is confused, you get a higher metabolism which may cause you to lose weight. You may also receive an erratic sleeping schedule resulting in, again, sleeping disorders. Together this will result in a weakened immune system making you more susceptible to disease.

      3. Sugar- So you said not to mention sugar, but this is important. There are 54g of sugar per can. Now a person should have no more than about 50g of artificial sugars (sugars not naturally found in fruits and vegetables) So you would not be allowed to have anymore artificial sugars that day. Which is quite difficult nowadays seeing as almost every store bought food has artificial sugars. All this sugar that you are eating, if the energy from it isn't spent exercising, will turn into fat. This added fat will, if sustained over time, raise your cholesterol significantly. This high cholesterol plus high blood pressure could lead to hypertension which in turn could result in a heart attack.

Now one can of Monster every once in a while won't do any significant damage. But if you have a can more than once a week (even that is pushing it) you are in for some trouble. Think of it like fast food. Every now and then isn't bad, but if you have monsters excessively any good vitamins would be outweighed by the cons of the caffeine and sugar.

Oh, and by the way there is no whale sperm. The added ingredient which is another hormone/energy booster is tourine, which is chemically similar to semen, but it is synthetically produced by humans. No whales involved.

  47. QUESTION:
Why does everyone say energy drinks are bad?
I am 12 years old and i drink about 4 energy drinks a week and im ok. Sometimes i drink it before i go to bed it dosent affect me in any way i just go to sleep its like im just drinking Soda or coffe same thing dosent make me hyper or anything. • ANSWER:
Because they are nothing but sugar and often times nothing but high fructose corn syrup which cannot be digested.

  48. QUESTION:
Are energy drinks bad for you even in moderation?
Just curious. I typically drink one Monster Coffee a day and was wondering if Guarana extract was not so good for you.

    • ANSWER:
Guarana seeds contain caffeine as well as phytochemicals. It is a natural stimulant, it improves stamina, endurance and also benefits as an intestinal cleanser. In addition to the normal warnings on the products though, it is not recommended for people with high blood pressure or heart conditions. Not only are you getting the caffeine in the Guarana, you're getting it from added caffeine into the drink. Regular caffeine consumption interferes with calcium metabolism so you're leeching this out of your bones by drinking this every day (osteoporosis).
If you look at the other list of ingredients - non medicinal- there is a high level of carbonated water (carcinogen-cancer causing), loads of sugars, and preservatives.
One drink every day is NOT in moderation by the way. ;) (I do believe the cans say 'as needed' which means you're already leading a healthy lifestyle and need an occasional energy boost-not some daily addiction to consume in lieu of proper eating/sleeping/exercise habits (which on their own equal health and mental/physical acuity). .

  49. QUESTION:
