    My friend's boyfriend is trying to run her life. What should I do?
    Both me and my friend are still in high school where I am happy to say we have a huge variety of cultures that mix together in society agreeably and without any racial/religious discrimination. We both attend the same girls Catholic school, obviously meaning we are of Catholic/Christian faith. My friend is Indian, from a part of India where it is not uncommon for girls our age to begin to marry, although where we live now it is incredibly rare.

    My friend has now been in a relationship for over a year with a guy in his mid 20's, who happens to be of the Sikh religion, and though I have never once met the guy I have developed a huge dislike for him (something which is incredibly uncommon for me). He has an incredibly controlling relationship with her and I have been trying to get her to see sense and give the relationship up for her own good.

    ~He rings her once every day, and if she misses the call he gets angry with her (when she lost her cellphone he even went and bought her a new one so he could keep calling her).
    ~When we were choosing our new classes for the new school year she had to take the ones that he said he wanted her to take, rather than the ones she preferred (she hates the classes)
    ~She has to lie to him when she is going out ANYWHERE at ANYTIME with friends, be it out to the movies, to a party or even a simple study-day get together at our houses (just with the girl friends as we go to an all-girls school, she has no guy friends at all). She is always having to use the excuse that she is going into school for extra work and research times. If she tells him she is out with friends he yells at her
    ~He has broken up twice with her in the past, both times in which I have had to be the one to comfort her for days afterwards and both times in which he expresses how he never wants to speak with her again. He has even returned to India once during these times. Yet he still rings her again, and keeps stringing her along.

    This one is the major one that is the reason I especially dislike him.
    ~He has told her in the past if she ever wants to keep up this relationship then she must give up her religion to become a Sikh, even though it is clear she is a devote Catholic.

    She is so incredibly hooked on this guy that nothing I say to her will get through to her. When he asks her to do something, she does it. Every time he breaks up with her, despite what ALL her friends tell her she crawls back to him. When she goes out shopping with us she is always looking at things she could buy him (she even tries buying shirts for him because he won't go get them himself, although he is so picky he doesnt use them or thank her. She even looks at things like duvets, pillows, or other household things that she thinks his home could need to make him more comfortable).
    The real problem is that he has apprently proposed to her, which she accepted, although such a thing is so uncommon for girls our age here. She is already acting like a slave to his every request, which is something personally I cannot agree with.

    She has never been self confident. We have had to stop her in the past with taking excess amounts of painkillers (not in an attempt to harm herself, but simply because they made her feel better momentarily). She is self conscious about her weight thanks to criticism from her boyfriend, and often drinks only energy drinks as a replacement as she is totally lacking in energy otherwise because she eats little. She has trouble sleeping because he talks to her on the phone half the night. She is also wanting to study to become a teacher (not something she wishes to be), but struggling in the some of her classes because they are not interesting for her as they were not her original choices.

    I have tried talking to her about this, but whatever I say washes directly over her head. She won't let me ring and try talk to her boyfriend to try get him to ease up on his control over her, due to the fact she is afraid that I will verbally pummel him (a likely scenario if I am honest), but also because he will get incredibly angry with her if she even starts considering letting any of her friends talk to him. He has never met any of us, we have never talked to him, and have only seen him in pictures. It seems like he is trying to isolate her from her friends, although none of us will let that happen.

    I am so tired of having to pick up the pieces after the mess he creates every time he says he is leaving back to India 'for good', or breaks up with her and says he never wishes to hear from her again. She says it is her culture that it is expected for you to marry the man you are in a relationship (or in this case engaged to!), but he is not good for her!
    What can I do/say to help her see that this relationship isin't going to work out! I'm always going to be there as a shoulder to cry on for her, but I can't stand to see this happening to one of my friends. I want to know

Remind her that she is in America and she can and is her own person and her future is out there just waiting for her to grab it. Try getting some library books on domestic and or emotional abuse, search the net I'm sure there is a site of women who have been in those relationships, to get out with their lives---bairly. Just please keep your temper in check, you know what he is, and he knows a strong minded young woman like you is the enemy! He will try to break up your friendship. I hope she holds on to you, bu hun, you can only do so much, I'm sure you worry about her all the time, but you have your own life and it can't be taken over by her pain if she isn't willing to help herself. I'll keep youj both in my prayers and thoughts.

    i am 56kg and 5'6" tall, 22 yr old. I have not gained or lost any weight in last 6 to 7 years and the change is pretty much less +/- 1kg. Have not been sick in last 5 years or more except once travelling to India suffered from breathing problem due to pollution, lasted 1 week. I need a diet plan as i wish to join a gym and start some weight training cause I am sick of hearing this comment from 7 out of 10 people that i am skinny n should try eating good which i do (I eat at least 2 times a day with energy drinks and snacks now n then) .       Whoa, whoa, whoa. You are NOT eating right. You have to eat more than twice a day, and you definitely need to eat more than those flimsy health shakes. You need a good amount of proteins and nutrients to promote muscle growth, and as little as it sounds like you're getting, that won't help at all. You should be eat more like 6 times a day, each meal small and nutritional, to upkeep your metabolism. You need to eat leaner meats, as they are high in the protein you need for muscle mass and low in cholesterol and fats; you also need to eat many more fruits and veggies for the many other minerals and vitamins your body needs to operate. Eat enough dairy products so as to get the recommended amount for the day, as it has cholesterol and fat as well; Cut out on excess carbs too, again getting the recommended amount for the day, as they will only add to your fat. Carb rich foods to cut are potatoes, corn, and white bread. To fulfill your grains and pasta requirement, eat wheat breads and healthier breads like that, but no more than you need. Also, coupled with your exercise and nutrition, you need to increase the amount of physical activity you do. If you drove to school, try walking instead, play sports, do anything that would help you get moving. Also, consult a trainer at the gym for information on a workout routine; there are different kinds of weight training exercises, some that tone, work on endurance, and gain mass, and if you're not doing the proper one, it's obvious you won't see results. If you work out enough with the proper plan, engage in enough physical activity, and eat like this, you should come off your plateau and gain the muscle you want.

    Mother-in-Law: My mother-in-law recently migrated here from India in the summer time and she is also mentally ill and is losing short term memory to the point where she is forgetful on things and events that happened only 3-5 minutes ago. Her long term memory is very powerful. She cannot speak English so it is quite a challenge to my three daughters. She is for the most part a very nice person but her lack of hygiene and messy ways make it sort of a challenge at times. I try very hard to be extremely tolerant but find it necessary to remind her of the rules of proper hygiene and mode of conduct when she comes to visit. My mother who lives next door to me is very spiritual and she is 83. My daugthers take to her quite well. I wish that they would extend the same feelings towards my mother-in-law but I realize that I could be at fault for this. When my mother-in-law comes to visit she often goes and visits but unnanounced and my mother really do not like it. I have told her and my husband as well has told her that if she wants to visit call before or go after noon and that she must not go without calling but she does not seem to care or remember. Her lack of hygiene and constant nose-picking can be irritating and my daughters absolutely refuses to eat anything when they visit my brother-in-law which is where she is living. My daughters are also very cautious when she comes to visit that she does not enter the kitchen. I feel that this sounds so cruel and harsh but I am very against poor hygiene

    I am constantly reminding her to wash her hands. I do not allow her to come into my kitchen to cook or to do my dishes. She drinks out of glasses and just rinses them and places them back in the tray. The last time I caught her I mentioned it to her and she said it was not a big deal. I quite frankly told her that I do not absolutely tolerate that type of thing in my home and if she does drink from a glass that she put the glass in the sink or to one side and cover for later. I feel like I constantly have to baby-sit her 24/7 when she comes to visit. It is driving me nuts but I try so hard not to let it get to me.

    And the energy in my home - I prayer every day at both my altars. I love God and I could not go one day without praying at my altar. I energize my home everyday and every moment with prayers and mantras. But she drains the energy field when she visits and when she leaves I feel drained and have to replenish the energy fields really quickly so as to maintain steady flow of positive chi energy.

    My front entrance has a silver statue of Lord Ganesha. And there is a semi-bathroom unit nearby and I absolutely hate it when my girls leave the door open as when it is open Lord Ganesha's face would be facing the toilet. When my mother-in-law comes to visit she leaves the door wide open so Lord Ganesha's face is now looking at the toilet. I really believe in maintaining positive Chi energy and so I tell my girls always to keep the lid down and the door closed ALWAYS after their visit and to make sure that they flush each and every time! He did not come the next day but I could sense really cold energy so I guess he was upset that I did that.     I simply cited the wiki page because it outlines his PREVIOUS TESTING. I've actually done some research on this and he's been tested BEFORE. So they tested him again recently and same claims are being varified by scientists. So why shouldn't I be wondering if there is possibly something to this?       If he really can do what he claims to be able to do, I'll have to admit, that would be pretty good evidence that something supernatural is occurring, because going 70 years without food or water would break just about every law of physics, chemistry and biology. However, something really struck me as peculiar.

Every state would have a high degree of autonomy from the Capital, determining things such as the drinking age, drug regulations, the driving age, film and game classification, the maintenance of roads and their own state police etc. as well as preserving culture, heritage, regional history and language.

    Furthermore, a Europe that is unified in the eyes of the world would be able to present itself as a serious player, a superpower that is able to determine the value of its currency, inflation rates, growth rates, export/imports, the ability to combine an effective and massively capable military to enforce its will would be a game changer. Europe could then help the US and Canada and push to keep the West in the running for economic dominance in 2050 and beyond.

      I'd love a federal Europe... however, I couldn't support it at the moment.
      - First, the economic situation is a disaster because of an over-reliance on credit (European economies have been based on borrowing and moving debt around for too long) and bubble economics (where people follow one another like sheep in invest in something which eventually turns out to be worth less than people thought).
      - Second, some European national governments are unstable or borderline corrupt and it would be a great risk to ally with them in such a strategic way.
      - Third, the current European political structure is a complex buraeucratic mess - any system based on it would almost certainly grind to a halt through massive organizational inertia.
      - Fourth, the current way European money is divided and spent is already something of a joke and a source of tensio. Further integration and a larger European budget would cause so much friction between member states that no laws would ever be passed.

    I think every American kid should be encouraged to visit or take an immersion trip to a country that's not well off and see what it's like there.

Stray cows, cats, dogs, etc. Even stray people. Seeing people without limbs literally falling at your feet begging for money is not an oddity. It's just a way of life there. The roads are ridiculously dangerous. It's like they don't even care for the citizens of their country. And politicians are so corrupt, they make American ones seem angelic. When someone gets into a car accident, no one stops to help. People stop, sure, but only to stare--never to help. Some of the poor's situation is so desperate there that they kidnap young children so that they have a better chance at receiving money from strangers; begging with a child in your arms is more effective than without.

    Look at America. We have clean air, clean houses, clean streets, clean water. Even the homeless are somewhat taken care of, with shelters and Goodwill and soup kitchens. We have a president who some may not like, but who no one can deny is brave. And we have a government that not only cares about us, but also about other countries. We are the caretaker of the world.

    And then you have these whiney, spoiled teenagers who don't understand how lucky we are and how much others would be willing to risk just to have a chance to live here.

    Why are we a country of unhappy, depressed people when we are the envy of the world?

    I don't think that my diet is too much. I never use lots of oil or extra butter with chapaties. I dance daily with my brother for 15-20 minutes { bhangra ( dance ) needs lots of stamina and burns lots of energy so I do it just for 15-20 minutes.} I also eat fruits instead of taking evening snacks.

    My weight is 48 Kg {105.8 pounds } with flat stomach but my thighs and hips makes me to look so abnormal and shameful. Even my close friend says this, then i feel so ashamed, it is really so shameful for me to hear so......
