     4 Lokos...MY FAVORITE. They have the nick name of 'blackout in a can' but I haven't blacked out. 1 can WILL get you drunk, depending on how much you drink, and they aren't the greatest tasting. The watermelon, lemon lime or fruit punch taste quite delicious. I suggest taking a drink/ trying it for yourself

   Me and my boyfriend bought one today just to try I out since today is my 21 birthday and I never really drink and we neve tried it and I was wodering does it get you really drunk?

   • ANSWER:
     It used to, depending on where you live. NY state and a few others (I forget which) have recently banned the sale of caffeinated alcoholic drinks. The Loko with the caffeine in it basically has the same effect of alcohol mixed with Red Bull in large quantities. The caffeine makes you hyper and at the same time the alcohol gets you, well, drunk. Combined, the two effects get one very "effed up" to say the least. I personally could only stand to drink half a can at a time, being quite the lightweight. If your home state hasn't banned the caffeine in them, expect to have a very good or very bad night, hah. If it has though (look it up), then what you're getting at the store is just a crappy carbonated alcoholic drink. There's still a lot of alcohol in it so you'll obviously get drunk, but without the caffeine you may as well get something that tastes better.
     On a side note, caffeinated alcohol drinks are terrible for you because while the caffeine speeds your heart up, the alcohol slows it down. Both are trying to do their jobs at the same time, which is really harmful to your heart. If you have a heart condition or a family history, I'd stay away from drinks like Loko and Joose if they have the caffeine in your state. Even if you don't, it's pretty dangerous. Don't drink them often.
     PS-Loko tastes like crap. Just a warning. Fruit Punch and Watermelon aren't so bad, but Lemonade and Blue Raspberry and Grape are the absolute worst. Yuck.

   Have u ever had FOUR LOKO alcoholic energy drink?
   Have you ever had a four loko and if so did it relax u like typical alcoholic drinks or did the caffeine and stuff make you hyper and crazy. I heard people have gotten anxiety attacks from them b/c all the stimulants got to them. But wouldn't the stimulant of caffeine and depressant of alcohol cancel each other out?

   I had some of one and it personally didn't do anything for me.

     No different than a Vodka and Red Bull. They just put it all in one can.

     actually i have. the best kind I think anyone should try first is the watermelon. but it depends on what u like to. im still a minor but i had all of them b4 and i liked the watermelon best. they are strong though so be careful at first. and the price is varied but in virginia beach, va but they are cheap though. they're .31 i think thats what the price comes out to with tax, maybe a little more.

     no, but when I was at work stocking the beer cooler, I had one bust and spray all over my face.

   If the energy drink: Four Loko is so dangerous, then why doesn't the FDA take it off the market?

     For the same reason guns haven't been declared illegal. If some idiot drinks too much Four Loko and then does something stupid, isn't it a bit ridiculous to blame the beverage?

     You must be 21 in order to buy it since it contains alcohol.
     It is the same as drinking 6 beers, so it's more than likely
     considered a beer rather than an energy drink.

     Four lokos already have some sort of energy drink in it so i wouldnt recommend it.
     It might make your heart beat super fast since yoir getting a double dose of energy drink.
     I would do it.
     Oh and btw i wouldnt recommend getting drunk on four lokos cause they give you the nastiest hangovers xp haha

    I know four loko the alcoholic energy drink is jam packed with all sorts or caffeine and stimulants and it makes a lot of people hyper and I have read reports that it can lead to panic attacks... When I had one it made me tired lol... what have been your experiences?

      I drank a four loko, then had a pint of whiskey. I was so unexpectedly too f*cked up.

      It didn't make me feel anxious though.

      haven't tried it, I have a can in the fridge from before they pulled them off the shelves. they have a reformulated version out now. I can't bring myself to tasting them they seem gross.

    i live in Illinois and ive read that four loko energy drink is illegal yet they sell it at my local 7-11. is it still illegal or did they make it legal recently

      Check the can. From what I understand the company that produces Four Loko distributes a version of the drink without all of the energy supplements (taurine and caffeine) which were the focus of the ban. Consequently, Four Loko is still on the market in those states that have banned the drink, but in an "impotent" form. Sorry if this news ruins the amped up placebo effect you'd have otherwise gotten from your purchase.
      I will mention that if you watch small irreputable bodegas around Chicago you will run across illegally distributed cans of the original stuff that were meant for other markets, but not at your local 7-11.

    i like alcoholic energy drinks. i used to drink four loko all the time but once it got banned i started drinking joose. but in my area (i live in ny) they're not selling joose anymore, but they're selling joose and earthquake. i've never tried tilt or earthquake so i'm wondering if tilt is any good. & please don't say "oh those drinks suck!" i need informative answers please. thanks.

      I think they taste better than Four Loko and definitely better than Joose. I've had the green, blue, and purple so far. They don't sell anything here with energy ingredients anymore (as of the 10th), so to add a similar effect as the Four Loko I add 200mg of caffeine per can. I don't see myself ever dumping my money on Jager and Redbull ever again.

    Is it dangerous to take adderall and drink Four Loko?
    So this morning I took some adderall (60 mg). Im fairly used to it so it wasn't that much, as i type this its kinda wearing off. What I wanna know is, if I drink a Four Loko later tonite like at around 11 or midnight, will it mess my heart up? I know Four Loko has energy ingredients in it, but is it enough that if combined with adderall it will boost my heart rate up too fast? Thanks!

      I wouldnt recommend it, just to be safe. 60 mgs of adderall is kind of a lot, and four loko on its own is already pretty unsafe, so I would be wary of mixing all that stuff. I mean, if you took the adderall early this morning and you are only planning on having 1 four loko late tonight, then chances are you will be fine...but i wouldnt risk my heart like that even for a party. If you do it, just be safe!

    can an alcoholic energy drink cause a sudden redness on the face and neck?
    my husband drank a beverage called four loko which is an energy drink mixed with 12 percent alcohol.. and after about 30-45 min his face got red like a sunburn and has red splotches down the back of his neck..he feels fine other than his face feeling hot...is this an allergic reaction to the drink or to something else or is it something different causing it.

      They have energy drinks with alcohol now, omg, if energy drinks aren't bad enough! Too much caffeine and sugar from the energy drink, combined with 12 percent alcohol is asking for trouble. With his face getting such a reaction, tell him to NOT drink those anymore. They should be taken of the shelves!

      It is sold in Europe under the name Four MaXed. It is made by the same company, but in Europe it is spirit based and not malt liquor based as it is here.

    Alcoholic Energy Drinks: JOOSE versus FOUR LOKO?
    I've been drinking JOOSE for awhile and recently I've been enjoying FOUR LOKO. Both are great drinks and I encourage their consumption but I find that FOUR LOKO tastes better and has a higher alcohol content (JOOSE has 9-9.9% and FOUR LOKO has 11%).

    I noticed that the positioning of text, ingredients, the warning labels, and the general decor of both a JOOSE can and FOUR LOKO can. And to top it off both of their respective websites are:

      It's malt liquor with energy crap in it. It is cheap, so there is a chance of a hangover. If you have ever had malt liquor you know that the flavor is horrible, and they are a tad bit better, but not much.

    and not all alcoholic drinks....according to the FDA

    Every time I drink I get really drunk and usually can't remember anything?
    I used to be a rum/coke drinker, now Ive been drinking beer mixed with energy drink aka four loko's, I wake up with everyone telling me how crazy I went, and I remember nothing, is it because the drink, or because something else?

    • ANSWER:
      The reason you can't remember anything is because you consume large amounts of alcohol. A potential explanation as to why you "go crazy" when you drink four loko's is because energy drinks give you a lot of caffeine and sugar, which combined with the effects of alcohol can potentially increase drunken behavior.

      I'm not sure why you didn't black out when you drank rum and coke: rum is a liquor and should be more powerful to your system. However, perhaps you drink greater quantities of beer when you have four lokos because the energy drinks mask the alcohol you consume?

      If you think this is a problem, I would take it easy on the four lokos for awhile. If you were just curious as to why this is, then that's the best advice I can offer. Although you may want to ask someone with medical experience why you black out more with beer, that's quite rare.

      Well considering that exceptional amounts of energy drinks and alcohol is already bad for you on their own imagine what they would be doing to your body when put together.
      They are particularly bad for your heart as the alcohol will try and slow your heart down whilest the caffiene tries to get it racing.

      One scientist on a news report I watched said that such alcoholic drinks have been known to give off the same feelings as speed or crystal meth!

      It has around 4 beers worth of alcohol in it, but it also has caffine and other energy suppliments which will really screw you up. It's the mixing an upper with a downer that makes joose/four loko mess you up.

      not at all . changing the label on alcoholic drinks will not decrease underage drinking. I mean have you seen the label on cigarettes. haha I don't know about you but personally I always check what I put in my mouth twice. and come on, once you drink it if you do think it is an energy drink you will know that it had alcohol in it. you will feel it.

      i know right? downing a bottle of vodka is a thousand times worse but they don't ban vodka in collages or from being sold in stores. And if you take straight liquor and use an energy drink as a mixer (which is popular now) you get a combo much stronger than any Four Loko premixed drink. yet no one bans bars using regular energy drinks as mixers. That will be next watch. the funny thing is an energy drinks effects are highly overrated. whenever something is new and powerful they try to ban it.

      Instead of using a monster try using a liquid caffeine mixer (internet search: semi-sweetened energy mix). Even better - if you can find the new Four Loko (without the caffeine), just add the caffeine energy mix to it. Here's another tip - don't use powder caffeine as it will only dissolve slightly in a liquid.

      Four Loko is no longer an energy drink it's now labeled as an alcoholic beverage. Not reccommended to take with Zyrtec. Zyrtec makes the heart race and to mix that type of med with Four Loko would not be good. Four Loko is disgusting and there have been many deaths related to drinking that recently.

    Don't the people who banned Four Loko's realize that their actions were entirely futile?
    Since now that they have removed the so-called alcohol-energy drinks from the shelves, the exact same brands with the exact same flavors are returning sans the energy stuff. Basically just 12% fruit flavored drinks, now perfectly legal again and no worse that any wine or schnapps of comparable strength.

    Except that, in the very same store where they are sold are countless "energy shots", such as the renowned "5 Hour Energy" (and many others that taste a good deal better, of course). One shot in these new and revamped non-energy fruit flavored beverages and you've got, well Four Loko's again just like they were.
    Only idiots may have actually drank Four Loko's. well there may be some truth to that, as someone did point out they did taste quite nasty, however there were several other brands which didn't jam in as much bitter guarana into them as the could, and oddly enough also made a lot fewer people sick. Joose and Tilt were some good examples.

    Drinking too much of any kind of alcohol will make anyone sick, but to say it is simply all poison would be incorrect as well as the human body can effectively metabolize alcohol. The problem comes when a person consumed the amounts in excess of their digestive enzymatic response. This is basic physiology.

    Also, I've noticed that the Sparks seems to have not been recalled, however are not being replenished either. Somehow they must have won the right to sell off their current supply. Im not sure how I feel about this, as I believe that Sparks was the first of these such beverages to debut in the US over 8 years ago.

      They are still allowing Sparks to produce their caffeinated-alcohol drinks (7% alcohol content) too. This doesn't make sense. And more importantly, it completely undermines the very ideology of Freedom; allowing people to be free and make their own choices.

      Does anyone think our founding fathers wanted a government in place to protect people from themselves?

      This is terrible. What next? No more Jager-bombs at bars? No more Irish coffee's? This law is nothing more than a political-friendly REACTIONARY method. ...opposite of PROACTIVE.       the can LITERALLY says "WE ID" on it.

      that being said, i've never been id'd but make sure you go to the shadiest bodega possible. also beware! all fourlokos for sale now are NOT the original formula, which means no caffeine and no drunk dialing your mom at 3AM.

      As with anything else these days, a few morons make a bad decision and then the "nanny state" feels it needs to step in and protect us. Makes me want to puke. If you don't know your limits and how much you can handle, you shouldn't be drinking anyway.

      Story in SF about banning toys from happy meals is another example.

    What is the big deal about Four Loko?
    I tried it and its NAAAAAAASSSSTYYYYY. There are other alchohal-energy drinks that have been on the market and they all taste just as terrible (especially B to the E). You could drink any 12% malt liquor with a Monster and get the same effect. I can't figure out why college students love it so much. Jager and Red Bull tastes great, has more alcohol and more caffeine ounce for ounce. So tell me, what is the big deal? Why are so many people in love with it.

    I don't want to hear "cause it gets you all F'd up", well so does a double-deuce of 8-ball and a Sparks chaser....gimme the real reason.

    Did I mention that 4-Crapo tastes like famunda?

      im with you 100% on this and distributors are actually either pulling them or selling out the rest of their stock till they take out the energy drink part of it. im 21 and people my age like it because its cheap and looks cool to hold at a party. you spend 3 bucks and get drunk as hell but with a cost. i had one and my stomach has never hurt so bad while drinking. when i want a sweet drink ill get a couple twisted teas.

    What should you do when your teenager drinks alcohol and gets very sick while at another parents home?
    My 14 year old daughter was spending the night at a friends home (while the parents WERE at home). The friends older sister (17) had an energy drink called four loko in her room. The girls drank this. It is 12% alcohol with alot of caffeine. My daughter became violently sick and threw up all night. The parents found out but did NOT contact me or even say anything to me when I picked her up the next morning. I was told it was food poisioning. I only found out whenI was contacted by the volleyball coach telling me they were all 3 suspended for 2 games for drinking. What do I do about my daughter AND the parents that thought it was ok to not contact me?

    My mom thinks shes mother theresa or something because she volunteers to be a ccd aid, when actually she tries to play mind games on EVERYONE. For example; she brought me and my siblings to the beach a couple weeks ago, and when my siblings were in the water and she thought i was asleep, she started drinking four loko. i didnt think anything of it, because i always thought it was an energy drink. when i found out it was alcoholic, (shes eighteen) i asked her about it. she acted like i was crazy or something! she's like, 'yup. i was drinking four loko, you are sooooo smart!" sarcastically. honestly, she thinks shes a whole lot smarter then she is. she's got my whole family fooled on this 'good girl' thing, but i can see right through it. like the other day, we started talking about popularity, and she said she wasnt very popular and alot of kids didnt like her much. well she and my sister started talking about it the other day, and i told my sister what she said and she acted like i was LYING. (obviously im not lying to yahoo answers, whats the point of that?) but anyway, sorry this is so long haha, but one of the most annoying things she does, is act like shes the freaking DOG WHISPERER. shes like "awh you guys hate your dog, thats terrible! your dog loveees me" its annoying as helll. so yeah, thanks for reading my rant haha. i know my mom wont believe me, cause my babysitter told her i like to fabricate stories and events, but what should i do?

    I Don't Like The Taste Of Alcohol?
    Well Im 19 In College, I Went to my first party and had some beer & four loko (Grape Malt Liquor Energy Drink) And I didnt like it ! I really want to like it. All of my friends drink and they seem to love it. I Dont want to be the kid at the party who drinks soda. What can I do ?!?!?!

      I never got to like it.
      I'm well into my fifties now (but I was 19 once too, and 23, and 47) and I don't find it has wrecked or changed anything in my life.
      Find something like non-alcoholic apple cider that looks kind of grown up and comes in a bottle, and take it with you when you party.
      I found that mixing things like champagne and orange juice or vodka and pop always made me sick afterwards. No thanks. Besides, mixing alcohol and sweet stuff is dangerous because it enters your bloodstream much more quickly.
      Mind you, there is a kind of Belgian cherry beer that I quite like - but I can only have like half a glass. It's called Kriek. Try it.
