Healthiest Energy Drink

Surgery and illness put huge strains on the body, and can often reduce appetites. This can cause the recovery to take longer than necessary. Nutritional drinks such as Ensure Plus and Fortisip can provide assistance to people with reduced appetites and help put you on the path to a speedy recovery!

If you have had surgery, what you eat can have a huge impact on your recovery time. For a wound to heal you need the necessary building blocks for your skin to heal quickly. In addition, to prevent complications such as constipation or infection, you need to ensure you get the right amount of fibre and vitamins and minerals to support the immune system.

In illness the body uses more nutrients than normal to try and fight off the infection. If the right nutrients aren't available to the body, the process of fighting the illness is slowed and the person is left feeling ill for longer. So ensuring the right nutrients are available to the system aids a speedy recovery.

Unexplained weight loss or a sudden unexpected loss of appetite can be caused by a variety of things, so it is always a good idea to get checked out by a doctor. Whatever the cause, the addition of nutritional supplements to the diet are a good way to try and regain the weight whilst the underlying cause is being investigated.

Ensure Plus, Fortisip and other nutritional drinks are nutritionally complete so contain everything that is needed for a balanced diet. If someone has a reduced appetite, liquids are far easier to take than solid food so nutritional drinks are the best solution. Ensure Plus and Fortisip both come in different flavours and varieties, of which, some contain extra fibre to reduce the risk of constipation. If one flavour or variety is not to your taste, there are plenty of other products available to try. Ensure Plus and Fortisip can also be used for cooking to increase the nutritional value of the food. Recipes involving Ensure Plus, Fortisip and other nutritional drinks can be found online.

Depending on how severely the appetite is affected, maintaining a healthy complete diet to aid recovery requires the quantity and style of nutritional drinks to be varied as appropriate. If absolutely necessary a person is able to survive on Fortisip or Ensure Plus alone, but it is not recommended that the person has more than 8 bottles per day.

Traditionally Ensure Plus, Fortisip and other nutritional drinks were only really available on prescription as pharmacies did not like to keep stocks on the shelves as the bottles or cans took up too much space, but they would order them in on special request taking several days to arrive, by which time the condition could have become worse. Trying to order it on prescription took even longer as you had to wait to see your GP first and then wait while the pharmacy ordered the drinks from their supplier.

An online pharmacy such as www.chemist.net is able to stock Ensure Plus, Fortisip and other nutritional drinks because they do not have to worry about shelf space. This means an online chemist is able to bulk buy Ensure Plus or Fortisip and offer it at a discounted price to its customers compared to a high street pharmacy. As the online pharmacy will have the nutritional drinks in stock, they will be able to send it out with the delivery company on the same day you place your order and it will arrive quickly and help reduce your recovery time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What is the healthiest energy drink?
I'm 17, and I need a little boost of energy everytime before I workout, Would it be bad to drink a "redbull", or a "go girl", maybe a protein shake?
    Or maybe 10 egg whites?
Would the energy drink give me heart problems if I drink it for a period of 2 weeks or so, mostly everyday?

    • ANSWER:
      Keep away from the caffine loaded drinks such as red bull, especially before exercise. Drink a lucozade drink or a sports water type drink;
      You should not keep drinking it. Its loaded with sugar (thats why its an energy drink), yes it will indirectly affect your heart;

  2. QUESTION:
What is the best, healthiest, energy drink I can use right before working out?
I always love an energy booster before going to the gym.

    • ANSWER:
Water. Energy drinks have too much sugar and just give a false sense of energy. Your body needs water to hydrate itself, sugar in energy drinks just dehydrate you which can be a big problem after a strenuous workout. Flavor your water with some lemon juice if you need to.

  3. QUESTION:
What’s the healthiest energy drink that’s not 5 hour energy?

    • ANSWER:
All energy drink are unhealthy. None of them have any positive ingredients.

Chocolate milk is a good, partially healthy energy drink, though.

Also, if you are just trying to not fall asleep you can drink a cold glass of water and walk up and down the stairs a couple of times. It takes 2 minutes and it is very effective.

  4. QUESTION:
BEST and HEALTHIEST energy drink on the market (@ a fair price too...)?
AND that taste...decent. I live off energy drinks and the redbull calories ...well....I don't want em. I hate the 5 hour energy stuff, tastes like cough syrup. So what have you found that is the healthiest, and still gives you the same zing as red bull?

    • ANSWER:
Green tea. It is healthy and will give you energy. You can make it yourself or buy bottles of it in a variety of flavors.

  5. QUESTION:

  7. QUESTION:
Best and/or Healthiest Energy Drink ?
Basically, I am looking for an energy boost in some form or another. Of course in today's world it is natural for one to turn to coffee, but i hate coffee. I don't like the taste or the very many variations of mocha, frappe and what have you. Now one may turn to energy drinks. I also have another hatred in this category. Red Bull = Vodka mixed drink taste reminder. If your like me and mix Red Bull with some kind of alcohol you know that you are always going to remember the taste in your mouth the night that you threw it all back up haha.

That in turn would lead to my question; What would be the best/healthiest energy drink?
I include healthy into the equation because health is a very important area when deciding if something in the food or drink industry is the worth your time or not because odds are you will consume a lot of this type of energy drink. Sugar-free is always a plus, and a boost of vitamins and minerals are another. I've also read that lower caffeine is beneficial to overall health/performance as well. Simply put, I'm in college, I need the boost to get me through the hours upon hours of reading/studying/facebook lol.

Given these statements, perhaps some of you wonderful people out in the Yahoo Answers world could possibly lend me a hand, so to speak.

I would love to hear any suggestions, recommendations, and/or advice.

Thanks to everyone who reads/replies to my question and hopefully this will not only inform myself, but the many people who may stumble upon this topic as well.

    Thanks again!

    Frank

Is 5 Hour Energy a healthy energy drink?
The active ingredients include about 500% vitamin B6, 3000% vitamin B12, Taurine, and some other things. I had one for the first time yesterday and about 2 hours afterwards I had a few hot flashes and then about 3 - 5 hours afterwards I felt like working out. I actually broke my record doing push-ups? Does anyone know anything about this energy booster?

    • ANSWER:
It isn't as bad for you as the other energy drinks tend to be but it is not quite the best. The best one that I have tried is called Blue-Rez and is similar to 5 hour energy but has a major advantage. It has resveritral and blueberry extract. If you don't know about resveritral do a search on resveritral and 60 minutes to see a report they did early last year. Resveritral is in the skin of grapes and is what makes red wine so good for you. If you want to try some go to livinity.com/harris and click on products and then blue-rez.

  31. QUESTION:
Which energy drink is healthiest for you.?
like a rockstar. amp.red bull. or monster.? and which one gives you most energy?

    • ANSWER:

  32. QUESTION:
Is Nitrous Monster energy drink healthy for you?
It says in the ingredients that is has nitrous, and carbon dioxide in it.

    • ANSWER:
The nitrous oxide and the carbon dioxide are not the issue really. carbon dioxide in beverages has been thought to be healing actually...

Monster energy drinks are not healthy because of the amounts of sugar and caffeine. Sugary soft drinks are never healthy, so no Monster is not healthy for you.

No, nitrous wouldn't kill you in such a small amount... I doubt if they even put it in the drink... It might just be the name. Not sure. Like nitrous gives cars a boost, the energy drink will give you a boost.
      anyways...
Nitrous will get you high, its laughing gas =]
But, I doubt they put enough to get you high in the drink

Now, inhale compressed nitrous from a tank for a car, and that will freeze your lungs, and yes you will die. The release isn't controlled enough to inhale it safely.

Too much nitrous can kill you, but then again drinking too much water can also kill you. Too much of ANYTHING will kill you. It just matters on how much it takes to kill you, and some substances require such a high amount, it just isn't feasible to consume that much.

  34. QUESTION:
My parents don't let me drink energy drinks?
I want to try an energy drink considering a lot of people drink them and they look good. But when I asked my mom she said no because it could cause a heart attack and it has too much sugar in it. Is she right? Are they that bad to drink? Is there such thing as a healthy energy drink or one's without sugar?

    • ANSWER:
You shouldn't want to try an energy drink to "look good". They are nasty and she is totally right! They can give you a heart attack in the long run, I don't know if you have heard but some athletes that have had heart problems have been linked to energy drinks, it is also not necessarily the sugar but what gives you the energy...If you want to try go ahead it's not like it's going to kill you, but you may show side effects in the long run, it all depends on how much of it you have and how often.
      Good Luck

  35. QUESTION:
Which energy drink is more healthy for you NOS or Monster?
I just wanted to know if the NOS energy drink is more healthy for you then the Monster energy?
I am too lazy to look for my self.

    • ANSWER:
NOS is unhealthier than Monster but thats because it has more in the bottle. But if you really care about health then just get a NOS because it has a cap so you can drink some and save the rest for later unlike Monster where its in a can so you almost have to have it all at once.

  38. QUESTION:
Whats a healthier alternative for Monster energy drink?
Hello, I really want to change my habit of drinking a Monster energy drink to something much healthier but that does the same thing, keep me awake in the mornings. Should I go for the low calorie ones even though they taste horrible? I want something that tastes good and keeps me up(well if you guys know any). Thanks, really appreciate the help.

    • ANSWER:
I really don't think that any drinks that contain caffeine are healthy for your body. This is including all kinds of sodas and coffee/tea and especially slurpees. The calorie part isn't that much of a big deal, it's mostly the sodium, sugar, and caffeine that hurts the body. Therefore, the best bet for you is water and any kind of juices you prefer. They not only are healthy but taste good( if you find the right one).
I hope this helps, I'm no scientist by the way...

  39. QUESTION:
Are starbucks doubleshot energy+coffee drink less dangerous than redbull?
I know it isnt a safe or healthy drink, but is it atleast not as bad as redbull and other energy drinks?

    • ANSWER:
Well it is just a lot of caffeine in a drink. I mean a doubleshot has a lot of caffeine in it by itself, now add the extra coffee and that's a lot, but then again there are people who go into starbucks and get 8 extra shots so its up to you.

Anyway, I do suggest healthier energy drinks if at all possible. That kind of energy drink will just be detrimental to your health in the long run. You need energy drinks with more nutrients and less sugar and caffeine.

  40. QUESTION:
what's a good healthy energy drink?
I've been looking for a decent energy drink I can have during my cardio workouts... I need a little bump of something, preferably something with natural caffeine. I was drinking the 10 calorie energy vitamin waters but had to stop because the sugar alcohols in them give me bad bloating... same with anything carbonated or with artificial sweeteners. Do you know of anything similiar to the vitamin waters that won't cause bloating or indigestion? Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Honestly, I wouldn't take energy drink at any point during, before or after a workout ESPECIALLY a cardio workout, its not good for your blood pressure and adds extra stress to your heart. Energy drinks will also dehydrate your body, which is exactly the opposite of what you want when performing exercises.

If you need an energy drink to work out, you should get some more rest.

Other than that I highly suggest straight-up water, even Gatorade is better then energy drinks since it provides electrolytes. But water trumphs all by a long shot.

I see no advantage that energy drinks can provide, only short and long term disadvantages.

  41. QUESTION:
Is Full Throttle energy drink healthy?
I have noticed that whenever I drink a can, and I go take a piss, my urine is a clear color. From what I understand, if your urine is a clear color, that's a indication that you're healthy. If this is the case, then full throttle isn't bad for you?

    • ANSWER:
Clear urine doesn't signify health, exactly, it signifies hydration. But just because you are hydrated, doesn't mean the drink itself is healthy...

Here's two stories about energy drinks. Once, my aunt used to teach a workout class on stationary bikes, and she had a teacher who was really really good at it. Well one day her teacher had two energy drinks before a class, got on his bike, and dropped dead in the middle of the workout. He was a really healthy man, but the energy drinks just totally messed him up.

The other story happened last year when my friend was drinking mixed drinks of vodka and energy drinks for our college's spring weekend. By Monday night, she had a seizure and had to go to the hospital, and the doctors attributed it to the energy drinks.

Of course, these are extreme examples...but they sure point to the fact that energy drinks aren't very healthy! Don't let your clear pee fool you otherwise! :)

to be honest, its not very healthy at all.

energy drinks are all fine and good for a boost of energy, but by no means should you be having one a day. not only is that a lot of sugar and calories, but there aren't a lot of nutrients in there for your body to function properly.

i worked in a kung fu school for five years and my co-worker would have a monster energy drink in place of a meal all the time. this almost gave him an ulcer. and even bumping into him near his stomach area would cause him extreme pain.

everything in moderation and for energy drinks... even less is more.

Some energy bars or granolas are OK, but not "healthiest" which is your question.
They at best have only 30% of the fiber necessary in many ways, have more sugar, more fat including saturated, and 3 times the calories per serving.
