Energy Drinks and New Age Beverages are the hot topics not only in products and sales or in the beverage industry but also in the Investment Community.
I'm seeing many new companies and new products every single day; and those are the ones that call me. Imagine all the ones all over the world.
Vitamin Water sold for a few Billion dollars, 4.1 to be precise. Now everyone is jumping into the industry.1 Billion Dollars, individuals, investors and companies want to go into the "New Age Beverages".
So what exactly are New Age Beverages? New Age Beverages is a new way of seeing "modern beverages" including functional beverages and fashionable drinks. This new "category" is growing and changing. Some time ago you only found Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar and maybe Vitaminwater as part of New Age Beverage. Now it has gone global, and crazy. Now the category has evolved and you can include enhanced water, tea's, diet drinks, iced coffee and really, any new drink. Every beverage company want's to be associated with the "New Age" category because not just because it's sexier but because the category is growing quicker and investors are looking at it up close.
You have to realize that Vitamin Water is not the first company to get big cash for their brand. There are beverage companies being funded every day, and more being bought and sold from large companies. Use the "big boys" as examples. Most of them started out with very small companies and a big idea.
You see many companies in the news being funded, many new entrepreneurs, investors, actors, signers, sports stars launching products.
Other companies like Reeds Beverage, Who's Your Daddy, Jones Soda and Hensen with Monster Energy Drink access funding through the public markets. These and many others are public companies traded in the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ or the OTC (Over the Counter).
My company gets hundreds of call from business people and investment companies looking to eather start or invest in New Age Beverages. I get hundreds of calls every month from Energy Drink or other beverage companies or just people wanting to start their beverage. The industry is growing and the category is growing even faster.
Why are these drinks growing at 50% per year or more? Why do we see so many waters, energy drinks, hydrating products, etc. on the market today? The answer is easy. Consumers are demanding more and more drinks. People now idendify with their drinks. They are fashion accesories, they are lifestile accesories. They want organic drinks, sugary drinks, healthy drinks and every type of drink to fit their personality, and style.
Why is everyone going into this new segment? Simple, there is money to be made. This is one of the characteristics that are shared all New Age Beverages, they all have high profit margins. How high are the margins? Well, you can make up to $24 Gross Profit per case. Yes, this is for one case. Imagine selling just one truckload of beverages or around 1,600 cases with this profit. Could you see selling truckloads and truckloads per month!
++Some advice before you start your venture:++
-Don't just focus on the drink, focus on the whole package (I get a lot of phone calls and emails telling me they have a better tasting drink than Rockstar, Red Bull 00004000 and Monster Energy Drink).
Don't forget, get distribution first and promotion second. Don't fall into spending money with no sales. What is the No. mistake I hear Energy Drink companies make? Promotions before Distribution. Remember, you have to concentrate on your Distributor and Retail Packages. Sell first, then push product off the shelves.
-Learn your Financials. Figure out how much it takes to start and sell your new drink before you go and produce 5,000 cases.

QUESTION:
help any one i need to do a science fair project on monster energy drink! need facts!on it?-
ANSWER:
I don't know how successful a google search would be on "monster energy drink", and you probably won't get much from the manufacturer's web site (just a lot of sales/marketing stuff), but you can take a look.Get a hold of a can and then use the ingredient list to look up the ingredients that you are not sure of one by one (use google or another search engine). This should yield decent information on what goes into the drink.
Then, maybe you could take a more detailed look at some of the ingredients and outline how they effect the body when ingested. Of course, caffiene comes to mind as a major ingredient. But, some drinks have guarana and other more obscure "pick me ups" that would be interesting to learn about. When looking at "effects" on the body, you should highlight both the upswing and the downswing effects (how one feels 5 minutes after ingestion and then 1 hour later, etc.).
Do these ingredients deplete vitamins and minerals? Are there any health benefits? Detriments? What about all of the sugar? Artificial sweeteners? You can see where I am going here.
If your project concludes that energy drinks in general are not so good for us, you might want to research healthier alternatives, and present those, too.
(I even thought of a potential title for your project: Is Monster really a MONSTER?)
I hope that is enough to get your own creative juices flowing. Best of luck to you!

QUESTION:
Are Monster energy drinks bad for you?
I don't drink them for energy, I drink them because they taste good. They don't even get me hyped up. I've looked at the nutrition facts on the can, and one Monster only has ten calories and fourteen grams of sugar. It doesn't say how much caffeine is in it though.-

Yes they're bad. Besides caffeine they have other crap like Taurine. And you don't even lack energy to begin with? So find something else that tastes good. Juice, gatorade (healthy compared to monster), chocolate milk.

QUESTION:
Are Monster Energy drinks really bad for you?
I've been drinking Monster a lot lately. I don't know why, I guess I like the taste, the sugar, and feeling perky for a little while. But my mom told me that they cause cancer and are really bad for you. I don't know if I believe her though.
Are Monsters really bad for you?
I'm not a big soda drinker at all, in fact I usually only drink water. I only drink Monsters once in a while you know? What do you think?
-
ANSWER:
If used as intended and in moderation they are not bad for you at all.Too many people drink too many and have problems. People here of these and assume that makes them bad. WRONG!
Red Bull recommends only 1 to 2 a day. The 2nd largest selling energy drink, which is also the 1st and largest healthy energy drink also recommends having only 1 a day and no more than 2. Monster is bigger so it is already 2 servings. So you should have only 1 can a day.
The worst thing is too much caffeine. The maximum safe amount of caffeine we should consume in a day is 300mg. Energy drinks have 80mg per serving. So a Monster will have 160mg which is just over half of the maximum amount.

QUESTION:
Monster, Energy drink?
Hi, I'm 15 years old
and I plan on drinking one tonight so I can stay awake while I study.
I have a bad habit of falling asleep when I try to study.
How bad would it be for me to drink 16oz?
Would it be okay?
Any nutrient facts?
Any side effects?
I have never had one before.
I'm around 5'4 and weight somewhere between 93-97.-
ANSWER:
Yes it will be very bad for your overall health ( including mind and body) You will have a lot of sugar mixed with caffeine and a myriad of other creepy chemicals in your body which in terms of mere minutes you will be so hyperactive that you will want to do anything but study, and then when it goes away, you will be physically and mentally tired ( crash effect) and sleep; waking up like when being hit with a bulldozer and failing. Try 5 Hour Energy Drink. Works well for focusing and studying and doesn't have the crash effect. Or at least try to find a healthier hour to study friend!BEST OF LUCK!

QUESTION:
Dangers of Monster energy drink?
I traded a friend a old yu gi oh card that i had under my bed from when I was 10 for a Monster Hitman shot. After I drank it to help me focus in math, he told me it was 1 year old. Later, my mom noticed this weird...swelling or lump on the right side of my neck. It's not painful or anything, in fact, I wouldn't have noticed if she hadn't told me. I may have already had it before but I doubt it. I haven't been bit by a bug or hit there. The only thing I had and still have are these weird whitespots probbally due to my lack of veggies (I puke violently after eating them for some reason). Could it be from the Monster? My mom's taking me to the doctor in a few days to check it out, as she learned that if we wait it could be like my old infection that I got around age 9. I'm almost 17 FYI and a male if that helps. I know kid's under 15 or so shouldn't have ED's. I never have energy drinks either. It's pretty rare for me. I usually stick with some caffeinated soda to help me.-
ANSWER:
I drink monster daily, and I've drunken month old monster before. I doubt that has anything to do with it, the bump was most likely there before. If not- It may have been an allergic reaction of some sort.
Best of luck

QUESTION:
How exactly are monster energy drinks bad for you?
I've done research on all the vitamins they put in and all these vitamins seem essential for a healthy person.
Now besides the obvious fact that it's loaded with sugar, what is it in the drink that makes consuming it horrible for you?cite your sources and back up your reasons with proof and logical explaination.
ps. Who can prove that there's whale sperm in this drink too? cite that source for sure.

ANSWER:
1. Caffeine- Caffeine, especially artificially enhanced as well as purely synthetic, is bad for you in the large amounts it comes in one can of Original Monster drink. (Don't even get me started on the coffee and energy shot versions) Caffeine is a stimulant, and with all stimulants after the first buzz you "hit the wall" so to speak. But stimulants in the long term can result in depression, headaches, migraines, lethargy, all that good stuff. Caffeine will also sky rocket your blood pressure resulting in sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders, and chronic high blood pressure.
By the way a person shouldn’t have any caffeine per day but if you do have caffeine you should have no more than 200mg. There are 7400mg of caffeine in each can of Original Monster.2. Internal Clock- All this caffeine, will definitely screw with your body's internal clock. When your internal clock is confused, you get a higher metabolism which may cause you to lose weight. You may also receive an erratic sleeping schedule resulting in, again, sleeping disorders. Together this will result in a weakened immune system making you more susceptible to disease.
3. Sugar- So you said not to mention sugar, but this is important. There are 54g of sugar per can. Now a person should have no more than about 50g of artificial sugars (sugars not naturally found in fruits and vegetables) So you would not be allowed to have anymore artificial sugars that day. Which is quite difficult nowadays seeing as almost every store bought food has artificial sugars. All this sugar that you are eating, if the energy from it isn't spent exercising, will turn into fat. This added fat will, if sustained over time, raise your cholesterol significantly. This high cholesterol plus high blood pressure could lead to hypertension which in turn could result in a heart attack.
Now one can of Monster every once in a while won't do any significant damage. But if you have a can more than once a week (even that is pushing it) you are in for some trouble. Think of it like fast food. Every now and then isn't bad, but if you have monsters excessively any good vitamins would be outweighed by the cons of the caffeine and sugar.
Oh, and by the way there is no whale sperm. The added ingredient which is another hormone/energy booster is tourine, which is chemically similar to semen, but it is synthetically produced by humans. No whales involved.

Could they really only have 3 grams of sugar per serving.I would guess that the "energy blend" listed on the facts contains Glucose as the second of seven ingredients. All seven together are 2,500mg which is milligrams I believe which. is how many grams?
Anyways I am guessing they hide all the sugar under the name "energy blend" then under that name as glucose. But even still I think that would be low sugar levels.
So how much sugar are you really getting in your body when you drink monster energy lo carb?
-
ANSWER:
there is only 3 grams of SUGAR per serving, but look in the ingredients...anything that ends with -ose is also a sugar so
there is probably more

QUESTION:
Which energy drink is the most harmful/effective/tasty?
I drink Amp and Sobe Adrenaline Rush, and those seem to be the most delicious, in my opinion. However Amp works best.Other drinks like Rockstar and Monster aren't as effective and don't taste like anything more than LOTS of sugar.
I recently tried No Fear, but i'm not sure if it works or not due to the fact that it's overwhelming taste of Hobo Ass prevented me from finishing it.
What do you think?

QUESTION:
Is Starbucks doubleshot energy drink bad for you?
I already know the calorie facts and what it says on the can, but monsters are a health hazard so I don't know if this is the same. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
There are two versions of Doubleshot, so to give you an answer we'd need to know which you're drinking. The "Energy+Coffee" version is a coffee-flavored, explicitly coffee-powered version of a standard energy drink, and isn't any better for you than a Monster.
The "Coffee" version only uses coffee drink ingredients (coffee, milk, sugar) and coloring and preservative agents. It probably isn't quite as good for you as a freshly made coffee drink (which isn't the best thing for you to begin with - too much sugar), but it's no worse for you than a can of Coca-Cola.
Black coffee is better than either - zero calories and possibly good for you (the jury is still out).

QUESTION:
Any good sports drink like Gatorade?
I've tried powerade and Gatorade. Any good ones? (no monster or any other energy drinks. Please add nutrition facts!!)-
ANSWER:
When you drink you gotta have a special Brew with the right amounts of sodium, potassium and carbohydrates to bring your system back into balance. I prefer GU Brew Electrolyte Drink over every other sports drink I've tried. http://keeplookingbusy.com/itemDetails.aspx?id=B002IB0APY
Pleasant mild taste, works well for hydration. Not too sweet like some sports drinks, but not too salty.

QUESTION:
Is the caffeine in guarana listed in the caffeine information on energy drinks?
I'm doing some research on the dangers of energy drinks. I came across a fact that guarana, often found in energy drinks, is very high in caffeine. Apparently, guarana seeds contain more caffeine than coffee beans. Monster and Rockstar both have 160mg of caffeine per can. Just wondering, does that number include the caffeine found in guarana?-
ANSWER:
yes. guarana is a substance that has high levels of caffeine, but it is included in the caffeine content of the drink. I think guarana is about 20 percent caffeine, so 100 mg of guarana yields maybe 20 mg of caffeine.

QUESTION:
Energy Drinks + Prengancy = No more baby?
So, recently, I heard this thing from my friend like that. As a matter of fact, my friend was pregnant and experienced this. After she went to the doctors, they told her she was pregnant. So a day later she drank three Monster energy drinks in one day. Then, she went to the doctors later that week and they told her she was no longer pregnant. Is there some kind of relationship between energy drinks and pregnancy?-
ANSWER:
Energy drinks are high in caffeine, and high energy herbs are known to cause miscarriage. Taurine will cause uterine cramps, which will detatch the baby from the uterine wall. Most anything that gives you pep tenses your muscles, and a uterus is the largest muscle in the female body. tensing cause contractions. Contractions lead to miscarriages. Also, female embryos cannot handle large amounts of sugar like male embryos can.

QUESTION:
chest pain/ not tired and weird heartbeat day after energy drink?
well i was out riding bikes with friends yesterday and he gave me half a red bull, then a little later i bought a monster, i was really tired then i got home and played xbox for a little and tried to go to bed and i wasnt tired and i have a little anxiety. well i got like 3 hours of sleep last night and now im awake and my chest is still hurting and heart beat is a little weird i think i dont know. what do u guys think is happening. i rarely drink every drinks, in fact that was the 2nd time ive ever had one-
ANSWER:
yeah you're fine. your body is just reacting to the taurine and sugar and caffine and all that other stuff in energy drinks. they overload your body with all of that, and if you're not used to it or it has never been introduced to your body before, a little bit goes a long way.during cross country season i don't drink soda, eat ice cream, or have any sort of chocolate or candy. the first time i ever have a soda or something when the season is over, my body spazzes out too. you'll be fine

QUESTION:
are energy drinks bad for you?
are energy drinks such as amp, monster, and red bull good for you? i have heard they arent, but could u give me some facts? why arent they good for you? and they healthy for 13 year olds? could they kill you? out of those 3 [red bull, monster, and amp] what ones healthier (or are they all the same)? ANDD are they bad to drink once in a while?thanxx to all who answer...just need to be educated on energy drinks
-
ANSWER:
They aren't good for you due to the amount of caffeine and guarana. Probably safer not to give them to a 13 year old. I think they are all the same. There was a guy once who drank about 13 or 14 cans of red bull and ended up in a coma so they can get close to killing you if you drink that many in any one continuous period of time. Just take it easy on them. No more than one every couple of days is the best.

QUESTION:
Have energy drinks ever made time stop for you?
I'm asking because I found this website that measures how many energy drinks you can ingest before it kills you http://www.energyfiend.com/death-by-caffeine. My best friend has drank 14 monsters in a row and his heartbeat was goin nuts while moving fast and jittery. I believe it's the government tryin to hide the fact we would go into hyperacceleration stopping time giving us the unlimited possibilites to conquer anything we wanted to if we injest enough caffiene and energy.-
ANSWER:
It would take 9213.75 Hershey's kisses to kill me.
