Considering these extremes, the taste of these tabs is surprisingly acceptable, somewhat to my surprise in fact. In all my experimentation with these tabs, never did they once destroy a drink. With each tab packing 80mg of caffeine (bitter by nature), it's actually an impressive feat to pull this off. They don't improve drink taste, either. Rather, the tabs add a mild Red Bull taste that plays nicely with just about anything. This all goes out the window, of course, if you add more than the recommended serving to any drink.
Ingredients
Each bottle cap-sized tab packs in an impressive amount of ingredients. We're talking 80mg of caffeine, 500mg of Vitamin C, nearly a gram of B vitamins, and 500mg of Taurine.
Energy
The recommended serving is 2 tabs per 200ml drink if you want what they call, amaximum energy.a Maximum energy you say? Hah. I challenged that statement by putting 4 tabs into a half-drank medium fountain drink. Let me assure you, there are other ways to achieve amaximum energy.a Stupidity aside, 2 tabs do a respectable job at transforming any mortal drink into a standard energy drink. With each container packing 20 tabs, though, you get to be the boss.
Verdict
Did you ever envy that drug junky in the movies that pulls out a small container of white powder in a public setting to get his fix? This is how I feel when I pull out the container at a restaurant and drop some tabs into my drink. Frankly, Bull Tonik energy tabs do a respectable job and I would recommend them for anyone in need of such a niche product. Side note: be careful what you put them in! Carbonation can accelerate the effervescence and make a mess. Think Mentos and Coke, but less extreme. I've been avoiding the energy drink craze, until recently. My job has me walking house to house "meter reader" and I train over 25 hours a week doing mma, lifting ,running. I still lose no weight. I drink 2 maybe 3 enegry drinks a day one at 5 am one at 10 and maybe one in the afternoon. Is it really that bad.-

Monster has 110 calories per serving. There are 2 servings in the regular cans. So if you are drinking 3 of those a day you are consuming 660 calories. That is a lot of calories even with someone as active as you.Three is also 80mg of caffeine per serving. Caffeine dehydrates us and depletes us of B vitamins. When dehydrated we feel tired and B vitamins are essential for energy. The amount that most energy drinks put in either just replace what is lost or not really much more to improve your energy levels.
Sugar free drinks available in the stores are better. They have about 10 calories per serving. However the caffeine is still there. I would highly recommend ones like the caffeine free XS energy drinks. These are healthy ones, with 8 calories per serving. They have much more of the B vitamins than regular energy drinks do.
Before that though it is imperative to get enough water. It is a natural energizer. Also taking a good quality multi B complex may help reduce how many energy drinks you may need in a day. Also using a good quality ginseng with ginko biloba increases energy too. Then there is the Rhodiola 110 supplement used for Sports Nutrition energy levels.
I recommend cutting back on the energy drinks to no more than 2 per day. With regular ones you are getting 480mg of caffeine. The maximum safe daily intake of caffeine is only 300mg. Over that causes many problems and the longer it is over consumed the worse it will be. Even beyond the plain caffeine there are just so many combined stimulants in them. Even the healthy ones like the caffeine free versions from XS should be limited to just 2 servings a day.

Decaf 5 hour energy...anyone try it?
I drink a ALOT of soda pop. Too much infact...I used to work out fie days a week doing spinning and strength training with a personal trainer. I was actually considering becoming one until I had to quit the gym picking up two jobs 65+ hrs a week. Long story short unemployed for three years started smoking and have now since quit.I'd like to go back to working out and try getting certified in personal training like I had planned but I'm a caffeine addict. I can't get through the day without it. I get up at 4:30 am for work and get home around 3pm. Go to bed at 10-11:30pm. My job is quite boring and if I don't drink something with caffeine in it I'll fall asleep.
I saw the five hour energy and someone I talked to spoke with a doctor and pharmacist who said its fine. But I can't handle energy drinks usually. Monster & Red Bull make me absolutely insane jittery. I fidget, have anxiety attacks sometimes if I drink them and have since stopped.
I saw the Niacin free Decaf 5 hour energy and was wondering if I drank like 1/4 of the bottle in the morning and another in the afternoon if it would hurt. Anyone use it? Anyone who has a sensitivity to caffeine try it? Let me know....

In any diet you need exercize- even if your'e trying to maintain.
Try some sort of activity like .. walking to coffee shops/ cafee's near work, walking to local locations/ store's, grocery shopping, shoveling snow, stairs instead of elevator's, lunch- break walk's, stretching, at- home exercize's during TV commercial breaks, etc ...You should make some improvement's with you're diet- it's definatly not balanced enough - especially for a man your'e height (you need way more food/ nutrient's even for weightloss since you're a big man, height- wize).
Also- get rid of those energy drinks and replace for "a" coffee along with herbal teas, flavoured waters, carbonated waters, carbonated flavoured waters, fruit juices, tomato juices/ V8, 1% chocolate milks, skimmed or 1% milk, soy/ rice/ almond/ coconut milk's and sport's drink's such as 30 Calorie G2 Gaterade, powerade, propel, etc ..You're diet lacks proteins, calcium/ dairy and vegetables, try this ideal routine...
Breakfast:
- Cup of wholegrain cereal or 3/4 cup steel cut- rolled oat's (~2pkg's plain instant oat's)
- Cup of skim milk

Ok, I am an 18 year old male. I am 6'0" and am in great physical shape, weighing 157lbs. I am in college full-time (12+ credits), and do not have a job.
Here's the deal:
A couple years back when I started college, I made straight A's and always on a roll. The last few semesters I've been getting B's and then last semester I passed with B's and C's. :[ I find that I now have a real hard time concentrating. I get easily distracted, when I should be concentrating on getting work done. When I read textbooks for class, I need absolute complete silence or I get distracted. I love math, because before I found I was able to do it np listening to music. Lol but now im not so sure. I find myself listening to the same songs over and over again, and the music worked before but now doesn't work, and its hard to concentrate on my math homework. I started drinking energy drinks, because I ended up wasting time to where end up staying up late to finish homework. :[ I find that the caffeine in the energy drinks (I drink Monster Energy, it works best), or caffeine in general really stimulated my mind, and it helped me concentrate. But now, idk if its because of my sleep deprivation with energy drinks, I feel that caffeine doesn't help like it did for concentration. I tried "natural" stuff for concentration, they were a load of crap. I even tried sleeping a alot!! Idk if I'm supposed to like "recover" or something by sleeping for several days, but I still found it hard to concentrate, and for some reason, no matter how much sleep I get, I ALWAYS found myself yawning and tired... :[ I really wanna do good, and I'm hoping to go back to getting straight A's again, but I don't want to have to stress myself out. Either way, if you are 18 your brain is actually still developing, there are studies that show a freshman in college who has gone thru changes; moving, new ppl, new teachers, new living quarters..so many changes make a brain work harder to cope with everything going on, its actually growing or building up like a muscle if you were working it out. So you must be tired and distracted becase...you are a teenager. Sorry to sound like such an old fart! Lay off the caffine, it will mess you up. If you need to get on a sleep pattern, look into meletonin, you can get it at the drug store. Your brain makes meletonin to help you sleep and be awake during the day, but caffine, late night habits, stuff like that will mess up your sleep. Look into it, my husband takes it when he travels to other countries so he doesn't get jet lag. He takes it and it helps him naturally turn it off and sleep well-no groggies when he wakes up. Also, you might not be going thru all your sleep patterns, they may be disturbed, you dont get adaquite rest for your brain, you cant concentrate. I have a friend who was an adult on ADD medicine, she did a sleep study and found she had sleep apniea. She has an oxygen mask she wears to sleep in, but can now sleep well and is off the medicine!! she has her concentration back, she's sharper, more alert-her eyes are bright and she's not all hopped up on coffee. Is it okay to major in english for a desired career in broadcast journalism?
You see, my first choice of career would be "writer".
Novelist, possibly essayist, to be exact.
Not so much columnist...Anyway, because writing is such a volatile career path, I feel like it's necessary to have a backup other than "english professor".
And that's where broadcast journalism comes in! I'd really like to be on camera. I feel like I already have the necessary skills and natural abilities- they just need to be perfected. I figure broadcast journalism grad school and an internship or two would sufficiently take care of this no matter what my undergrad major is.
I'm also open to other on-camera hosting or presentation jobs. I'd probably be set for those jobs too, as I plan to become a promoter for Rockstar or Monster energy drinks or some club/even promotion company... like one of those girls at the events who gets their picture taken and hands out product.
I don't know... I'd just really rather not major in communications or production or journalism because above all I'd like to write.

Why is my love becoming loosened?
Lately my Boyfriend and I have been doing nothing but fighting. Last weekend was his Birthday and he is now 23. Since he didn’t have a clue as to what he wanted to do we had talked on and off about different things until his best friend told him of this concert that was happening and he ignored my suggestion of a romantic night out and went to the concert with his best friend. This small fight had lead to him not hanging out with me last weekend, (he had gone to his best friend’s house an hour to 45 minutes away Friday evening) instead of hanging out with me as we had planned that Friday. And spent the night there Friday into Saturday he went off to work and then off to the concert.Late that night he came by around 1AM, we talked but I knew I wasn’t going to win this fight of ours and I didn’t. Before leaving he said he would come by my place straight after work Sunday. He ends up getting all angry Sunday during the day and says well I’m going to go get my new tattoo done (since he had said he spent some Birthday money on himself, i.e. tattoo Monster Energy Drink etc.) and he would see me after he got it done. Late that night he calls me around 11:15 and says he’s halfway to coming down because he had to drop off this guy that was also getting a tattoo done. So my Boyfriend had said he was sore and sleepy and wanted to just go home and hope into bed. Since he had said he was sore and sleepy and wasn’t in the mood to “fool around” I told him “Then I don’t want to hang out”. He ends up saying “Look at you you’re like a man just looking to get some – relationships isn’t just sexual pleasure” and he hung up the phone.
He ends up arriving at my place 15 minutes later and he tells me straight out “I’m outside come out but no drama” so I head out and out comes the drama because I was upset that he had picked getting the tattoo done first instead of sticking to his word of saying he was going to come over right after work. It leads to him yelling and getting extremely pissed at me saying such remarks as….
“You’re a bitch” “You were the nicest person the first 4 months of knowing you then you were a real bitch and I’m going to say that all night, bitch bitch bitch bitch etc.” “I’d rather drink a Monster Energy Drink at least it doesn’t bitch at me all the time.” “You’ve driven me to the point to where I don’t want to come down to see you because you’re a bitch”.
Among other harsh remarks, previously though on Saturday night a co-worker of his had written on the job’s white board a Happy Birthday message to Raymond and I got jealous of her, his job has its share of guys and girl co-workers so I told him I got jealous of what she had written even though it was a simple “Happy Birthday message thingy”. He ended up saying also that “I’m insane,” my boss and co-workers say “I’m a bitch and crazy” etc etc etc.
This going right back to the fight happening Sunday evening, he ended up saying that all his friends and co-workers all say the one thing that “I Am a bitch”. I end up telling him well then I’m just going to leave you alone for a while and was going to head out of his truck and back into my house. He ends up seeing me in tears and cuddles me saying he was sorry for being an asshole and saying all those remarks.
So then Monday arrives we go out have a good time and then we were suppose to hang out in together this past weekend (Friday and Saturday) to attend this concert that was happening so then Friday arrives and he was on his way down after having to do some errands beforehand and I had mentioned to him gather up the cans you have laying around the truck so we can take them in (becuz we were going to take some bags of fans, 4 of them to the recycle place so we could use the money to hang out) so he ends up telling me that his dad had taken those cans from his truck. I had told him why did you let him? Can you get those cans back? That’s when my Boyfriend yet again blew up, and he ended up not coming over and he went out of his way, to borrow money from his friends or family and he went back to visit his best friend and spend the time down there.
Now let me remind you this, he told me during those fights of ours that he doesn’t like driving and doesn’t like borrowing money from his friends and family members, but yet he went out of his way and got the money and drove down to see his best friend and him and he went to yet another concert together becuz he says his best friend treats him better than I do.
During yesturday’s fight he added “I don’t want to bring you around my family” and “you need to get a job and a car and come see me” among other things. Point and case here is that he will go out of his way to see his best friend but yet when it comes to me, he could care less. Now I’ve done my part I’ve helped my Boyfriend a lot, helped him pay off a debut or two of his, helped him get FREE tickets to shows etc etc etc. But yet he doesn’t really care or even get excited about half the

Will my stupid petty theft at walmart be on my criminal record?
Okay, I have somewhat of a major problem. To start, about 3 months ago I was in walmart with a friend who stole a shirt, I happen to be drinking a monster energy drink from the store that I myself drank and left on some random aisle. We walked out and were grabbed by security, they made my friend give up the shirt and asked me about the drink which I said yes to. They called in a cop but he only asked questions, he didn't rake down our info. On the otherhand walmart banned us for life, took all our info down off our licenses, they said we could be charged with criminal trespass if we went to any of their sams club or walmart locations. I'm 18 and I just got hired at abercrombie and fitch, they said I definatly have the job once my backround check goes through and is clear. (I didn't mention this walmart ordeal). I didn't receive any punishment accept a 0 fine I have to pay to their attorney's office or whatever. So I just would like to know if I have a good chance of it not being on my record? Or if it is how detailed will it list the matter? Do you think my new job would not hire me because I failed to mention this? Of course I regret it, but I know I'm a good person and not a thief, I've never stolen anything in my life, it's not morally right and simply not worth it. If the police did not write down any info and no charges were filed then this will not appear on any records other than Wal Mart's records. (which don't really mean anything) you don't have anything to worry about as long as you stay out of wal mart. If you go back to wal mart then you risk being charged with trespassing. Why do I feel so weak during the day?
I recently started working at a janitorial job. in the morning I feel fine. I eat a protein bar along with a monster energy drink. I then drink water though out the day. I eat lunch on break, which is usually a sandwich along with fruit or yogurt. After that I get so weak. Its not that I feel tired or sleepy, but my muscles get really weak. I'm not too over weight or anything, I get enough sleep, so I just dont understand why this happens everyday around the same time. I dont know if I should jog in the morning or what. anyone have any ideas?-

Why am I always tired?
I've had an issue for many years where I feel extremely groggy for the entire day. Nothing can rid me of this tired feeling. I can barely keep my eyes open sometimes. It's like my body doesn't want to function anymore but my mind keeps running. Today for example, I was so tired when I awoke, I needed both a large turbo coffee from Dunkin Donuts and a Monster energy drink just to get me through the work day. The effects didn't even last. No matter how much caffeine i pump into my body im still tired.I exercise 2-3 times a week, drink one cup of coffee every weekday, get 7-8 hours of sleep each night but no matter what I do I always feel exhausted. I'm in my late 20's, have a stable job, no kids and I go to bed and wake up at consistent times. I'm about 10-15 pounds over my ideal weight but other than that im healthy as an ox.
Im going to get some blood-work done soon so that my doctor can find out if there is anything chemically "off" with me but its been this way for literally years.
Anyone suffering from the same problem and have advice?

I always do some stretching for around 10 minutes in the morning, which gets your blood flowing and wakes you up.also try bringing snack bars or energy bars around with you to eat during the day

Don't feel guilty. You were hungry and you weren't prepared.
Now focus on the future. How can you avoid doing this again? Make sure you bring a healthy snack with you to work, so that if you get hungry, you can snack on it instead of eating cheeseburgers and sundaes.
Also make sure you aren't setting yourself up for failure by being too strict. It's okay to have treats every once in awhile, EVEN on a diet! In fact, you are more likely to succeed if you allow yourself the occasional treat, than if you were to go really strict about it. That's because when you're too strict with your diet, it's harder to follow, and you start to feel discouraged because of days like this where you feel like you "ruined" it. If you allow yourself treats sometimes, say 1-2 times a week, you won't break your diet, you won't gain weight, and you will keep yourself happier.

I can't function socially unless on Energy Drinks? Worried for health!?
I realised last week that I need to have a can off Monster or Rockstar present in order for me to be very bright and friendly with everyone! People seem to love me for it!
The day I'm not pouring the caffeinated junk into my gut, I am shy and depressed and no one seems to interact with me as I'm boring.The fact that the Energy Drinks help me do my job as I'm meant too (interact with people and close deals due to my personality and confidence), when I am off them, I can't concentrate :/
Any ideas how I can kick this, I can live without Energy Drinks, not addicted as easily not have them all week/month/year but I'd probably get fired and not have any friends due to being a sad, depressed guy all the time!

How to stay awake while at work?
I been having trouble staying awake at work. I did some online research and tried just about everything. I got a plant for my desk, bought a fan, chewed gum, apples, sunflower seeds, none ofit worked. I've chased No-Doz down with Monster Energy drinks, no help. Ive tried 5 hour power and even 7 hour power and yet Im still falling asleep at work. Im taking vitamins, (B complex and E) Chromium Picolonate, Flax Seed Oil - this was a suggestion to help aid digestion and keep from feeling sluggish, no help. My wife tends to think I may have sleep apnea, so Ive been using the throat spray w/nasal strips and Claritin on a daily to aid in allergies. And Im still sleeping at my desk. Our boss is a hard a$$ and doesnt allow talking or music when working (I do data entry) When I do feel like im getting sleepy at work I usually get up and gop to the bathroom and splash my face a few times with water as cold as I can get it. This helps for abt 10 minutes and then its back to the nodding. Coffee is no use, chilled Mt Dew no help. Ive tried it all....im this close to starting a cocaine habit just to stay awake at work! Anyone have ANY suggestions short of getting another job???-

Drop the the caffeine and all the energy drinks.They only work until your body builds a resistance to it.
The Vitamins and minerals are great but aren't going to help you to any degree, if your dehydrated or just don't drink as much water as you need.
If you smoke, stopping will help tremendously but beside that, get outside and working or exercising until you feel like going to bed before Jay or Conan comes on!.
Eat a large breakfast, but most importantly, is the way you feel about your work place.
Try to see your boss, in a newer light, and except things that you can't change, you 'd be surprised how that would make you feel!

So the most loving thing you can do for her is to not make her feel overwhelmed by all the gifts and let her give some back when she can. Then save your gifts for special occasions. how do I get my mom to not be mad at me for not being my brothers slave?
He is 25 years old and is socially awkward. He won't go into a store or a fast food restaurant etc. If he wants burger king, dairy queen, etc... I have to go get it for him. If I don't I get yelled at and ignored and she tries playing guilt mind games on me. Why should I feel guilty for trying to live a normal life. Seriously, she just enables him to have this behavior. Just now, she got pissed at me because I wouldn't run to the store to get him 2 monsters (energy drinks) for when he gets up for a job interview (yeah, I know he can go on a job interview but can't go to a store. don't ask me why). I've tried politely explaining to her that he could just leave a little early and pick up his own on the way out, but nope I'm the bad guy (well girl). Ok I am an 18 year old guy. I go to the gym faithfully 3-4 times a week lifting weights and such. I'm a freshman in college technically, but I dual-enrolled through high school, so I already have enough credits to receive my AA degree. My major is computer hardware engineering, but of course I know I have ways to go still. I go to school full-time 12+ hours each semester (except summer). I do not have a job, nor have I ever worked at a job, although I am really trying to get a part time job. I live at home with my parents. I say all this in hopes to get a better answer as to solutions to my problem.Ok here's the deal. The past several semesters I've been struggling versus when I first got into college through dual-enrollment. At first, I made straight A's like the first semesters. Then one semester I started getting B's and last semester I struggled and got two C's and two B's, taking Core Bio 1, Calc 1, Chemistry 1, and Ethics(piece of cake). The C's were in the Calc 1 and Chem 1 classes, and I barely passed.
I found out overtime that I was having trouble concentrating and focusing. That semester in which I received the C's, I could not concentrate and it was real hard to and I turned to Energy Drinks like Monster, and energy shots like 5 hours energy to see if it would help, because caffiene is a Stimulant, so I figured it'll help me concentrate. Well, idk what happend, but I made it through and it seemed at first the caffiend supplements were helping with my concentration/focus.
Overtime, this semester came around, it's supposed to be an easy semester kinda. I'm taking Guitar 1, Marriage/Family, Intro to IT Logic, and Calculus 2. Calculus 2 obviously is the one I'm struggling the most, because its the most difficult versus the others. I'm behind in homework, and for some reason throughout this semester, trying to concentrate is getting harder and harder, and I keep getting distracted.
I was using the energy supplements throughout the beginning of the semester, but I guess like everyone says their bad for you, well they started taking a toll on me, and I started getting real tired each day, and getting depressed all the time (because I read caffeine is a temporary stimulant, then becomes a depressant afterwards).
During College spring break when I tried to catch up on work, I quit the caffeine intake supplements Cold Turkey, just quit it all, because I know how bad those are for you, and they weren't helping my concentration anymore like it did (or I thought it did) before. Ya maybe its bad, and several days after that I felt like crap, and extremely depressed because I wasn't constantly taking caffeine so it all became a depressant.
After spring break, and me flushing all the caffiene out of my system, I tried natural stuff for concentration again (I have before and they didn't work) to see if they would help but it didn't help.
Some people told me because I weigh like 155-165lbs and am 6'0" tall, and I work out 3-4 times each week lifting weights, that it might be a vitamin deficiency or something. But I have always taken vitamins, and now I'm taking a multi-vitamin. I feel good with the vitamins, but it doesn't really help with concentration.
I tried going someplace quiet like the library or someplace with no distractions, but I always find myself getting up and finding something and get distracted again. I've tried listening to music of all kinds to help, and it used to help loooooong ago, but stopped working a while ago, and just makes it worse.
I have like only one friend, and we don't hang out and talk much. Even though I work out, and am a handsome young man, I do not go out like at all. It's pretty much school home school home school home, and church sometimes, but that's it.
I have so much free time, that there is no excuse for me not to get my work done, especially that I don't work, and I know that. Other people way busier than me would wish to have what I have, yet idk why it's hard for me to get my work done.
I find myself getting distracted alot, and then I end up watching tv shows, playing games on my iphone, or other stuff, and I know in the back of my mind that I shouldn't be wasting time, but for some reason, it's just hard to get myself to do it, then I think about all the work that needs to get done, and then it gets very hard.
I don't know what's wrong with me, or if anyone else can relate with my situation. I've made an appointment with a psychiatrist, but the appointment is not until practically the end of this semester, and I want to know why it's hard to concentrate and such, and what I can do, because I really do wanna do good in school.

16-year old son & household chores?
Okay, my son has a summer job - he's a stocker at the local grocery store working 25-30 hours / week (3 evenings).My husband & I have divided chores among the kids, & our son has to take out the trash two days a week, change the litter box once a week, and do the dishes / clean the kitchen twice a week. I don't think that is unreasonable. (Our other kids have similar responsibilities and our 14-year old daughter usually does way more!)
Our son is making about / week. Half of that goes into his savings account. We take him to work & pick him up because he doesn't have his license or vehicle. He generally blows his money at fast food restaurants near the store on the days he works, plus those "monster" energy drinks.
Last night, my husband reminded him it was his night for dishes, & he informed his dad that he should not have to do the dishes because he "hardly ever eats at home since he's working". We have our thoughts. What are yours?

I'd say that if he didn't dirty the dishes he shouldn't have to clean them.
But he is old enough to do his own laundrey... he has to learn eventually since he won't be living at home forever.

Alternatives to Energy Drinks?
My boyfriend has a new job as a conductor on Metra Rail (train line). He doesn't get much sleep- I usually hear him leave at about 2 in the morning, and hes not home until 9 or 10 at night. He usually gets about 2-4 hours of sleep per night.
This is very unhealthy for him but whats worse is that hes been drinking energy drinks constantly. He did this back in college too and had pain in his wrists and chest. The pain is in his chest and neck again now and I don't think the drinks are good for his health because of this.
Does anyone have ideas for alternatives to keep him awake during work? I know that sleep is the best answer- but it is not an option right now. He works 7 days a week.
I've heard that tea can help but he doesn't think it does. He's been drinking V8s lately which help a little but he still relys on Monsters constantly.-

The web sites as well as advertisements in the mass media for these products are full of images of macho lifestyles. They promote beverages containing ingredients that sound scientific, but may be unfamiliar to many consumers.
While we all need an energy boost from time to time, an energy drink may not be the best way to get it, experts say. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration of the US-The US government agency responsible for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of all drugs, biologics, vaccines, and medical devices) does not define the term "energy drink"; that label is up to manufacturers' discretion.
"There is scant scientific support for these ingredients to make the kind of claims manufacturers use in hyping their products," says Suzanne Farrell, MS, RD, a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association. "Most of the energy from these drinks comes from the sugar and caffeine, not from the unnecessary extras."
She also points out these drinks contain plenty of calories from sugar, which can add up quickly if you drink a few cans.
Aside from caffeine and sugar, some of the more common ingredients are taurine, ginseng, guarana, vitamins, and green tea.
"Most of the energy drinks contain high-tech-sounding ingredients that are not controlled substances, of no value, and potentially harmful" in large amounts, adds Cynthia Sass, MPH, MA, RD, specialist in sports dietetics, in USA.
And trying to figure out exactly how much of each stimulant is contained in an energy drink can be difficult, she says.
"The amount of the stimulants is not always listed on the label, and even when the information is listed, it is hard for consumers to interpret because we are not familiar with these ingredients.
One ingredient most people are familiar with is caffeine, and "what we do know is that large doses of caffeine can be very dehydrating.
While one cup (8 ounces) of strong coffee has about 125-150 milligrams of caffeine and a 12-ounce can of ordinary cola has 35-38 milligrams, an 8.3-ounce can of energy drink may contain upto 280 milligrams. In general, caffeine consumption should be limited to about 200-300 milligrams per day, says Farrell.
Easy to Drink
One of the concerns about energy drinks is how easy it is to drink large quantities of these sweet beverages.
Energy drinks contain multiple stimulants that, when combined, can be dangerous and have a very powerful effect on the body. Most people know how much caffeine they can tolerate, but may not be familiar with the effects of some of the other ingredients.
Such possible symptoms are upset stomach, leg weakness, heart palpitations, being jittery, nervousness, and more. Drink these energy drinks on an empty stomach and the effects can be magnified.
There will be an energy burst, but it could also lead to agitation, difficulty concentrating, hyperactivity, a problem sleeping, nausea, and affect blood pressure.

Need a Boost?
When you need a boost -- whether to study for a test, prepare for a workout, or just get past an afternoon slump -- there are healthier ways than energy drinks, the experts say. Among the energy-boosters they recommend are a healthy diet, physical activity, and a good night’s sleep.
And when you need a quick fix? Energy drinks sound like they would be better than a latte, but a coffee drink made with skim or soy milk is a much better choice because we know more about the effects of caffeine.
They recommend no more than 2-3 servings a day of caffeinated beverages, preferably served along with food. If you find caffeine overly stimulating, try decaf or half-caffeinated beverages.
Other energizing beverages include sports drinks, fruit juices, water, low-fat milk, and good, old- fashioned water. "Drink more water," suggests Farrell. "Being dehydrated can lead to fatigue."
Also make sure you're getting enough carbohydrates. Fresh and dried fruit, vegetables, cereal, low-fat yogurt, and whole-grain breads are just a few of the many nourishing foods that can give you energy.
Eat meals every few hours, don’t skip meals, and take a good look at your eating and sleeping habits.

Hello everyone I have about 5 months that I started working in a factory from 10pm to 6am and this had really messed up my sleeping pattern. On mondays and wednesdays I sleep for about 10 hours and when I wake up I am still sleepy and fall back to sleep. On the weekends is the same and I cant go to sleep in the night and usually fall asleep at 6am. I really hate working at this time but I cant loose my job. Im 22 years old and I am considering working out to gain back energy, I order the p90x workout dvd. What are other solutions? I dont want to drink no monsters or red bulls I want natural energy? at 22 the body only requires 8 full hours to work a full days work ... but if your still tired from 10 hours of sleep cut your hours down to 8 7 6 dont go below 6. 6 is the lowest amount of sleep your body should get o and 5 hr energy work just take 1 if your still tired after 1 ingest a lil more cafine and it should spark it up

Some people just do not react to them.
Myself, for instance. (And I'm not fat.)
Energy drinks can have the opposite of their intended purpose.
Some people get drowsy from drinking them. (Like me.)
And, if you drink them constantly, it can resulte in dehydration which causes fatigue.

I'm very out of shape, and football camp/training is just around the corner(august!). tips/workouts and such?
i am (not sure the exact measurement) 5-10 to 6-1. been a while. 245 lbs. i haven't lifted in 4 years. i got my **** whopped doing a set of 10 @bench :90 lbs(bar+weights) my 40 is 7- 9's. last time i did it was last yr, in 8 i am going out for varsity, i'll be a Junior in h.s. next year. starting next week, i need to go on a crash course, and get as ripped(if its possible in 2 mo's) as i can. can you give me a rough exercise plan to follow with a fairly basic "eating plan". my dad's work(and my summer job) has a weight room and i am free to use it any time, as well as the vitamins and supplements/protein powders and such. i also drink at least 1 monster energy drink a day, should i cut them out?
