Amp

This is Pepsi's entry into the market. It started with the timeless and irresistibly tasty original Amp. This was one of the first energy drinks to break away from the standard energy drink flavor, and in hindsight was ahead of its time. Drink makers to this day have a hard time producing energy drinks with such a wonderful better-than-soda flavor. The Amp line quickly evolved with the addition of 5 other variations and a couple of recent tea additions. The line-up does not have one bad tasting drink, but a lack of energy plagues each and every one of them.

Monster

This drink line-up is one mean powerhouse of taste, energy, tradition, and advertising power. The original Monster started out slow in the needy niche of the videogamer, but soon evolved into motor sports. Monster now undeniably commands the motor sport genre, and has won over the hearts of many average energy drink consumers with its unique taste and impressive energy offerings. It's hard to not be intrigued by a can graphic of a monster inside the can clawing to get out. Monster's popularity grew exponentially as soon as it started finding its way out of LAN gaming sessions to more and more gas station shelves, and soon added 4 other variations. Even more, Monster branched out extensively with their Java line-up to cater to the bean and tea lovers out there.

SoBe

Pepsi just couldn't get enough of the energy drink dollar with the Amp lineup! So, shortly after gobbling up SoBe from its original owners, they cranked out more energy drinks under the SoBe name. The first, No Fear, was an instant hit with its no-bs grapefruit taste. This drink picked a flavor direction, fully committed itself to it, and nailed it. Energy in the SoBe line has always been moderate, though, unfortunately. This seems to be a recurring theme with Pepsi. Obviously the SoBe line had No Fear, as its roster soon became incredibly deep. Added to the family were the Adrenaline Rush variants, sugar free versions, Gold, a promotional limited run Superman drink, a couple Essential Energy variants, and the recent Super Energy variants. In total, we're talking 14 energy drinks in the history of SoBe. Currently, about 12 are available. The original No Fear cans are virtually nonexistent and the Superman drink is long gone.

Rip-It

I have no idea where these drinks came from, it's as if they flooded gas station coolers overnight. Unlike the other drink lines, this one did not start on a single successful drink and build up. This collection hit the market with an exceptional variety that hundreds of other drink manufacturers are still struggling to achieve. Rip-It's offerings are also unique in the sense that each drink has its own highly unique (and enjoyable) taste, not just a special flavoring on top of a familiar taste foundation. This is actually quite an uncommon feature in the majority of energy drink collections out there. Unfortunately, energy offerings are mediocre at best. It is not uncommon to drink one of these drinks and feel nothing. To count the number of Rip-It flavors available you may just need to get a calculator out. This collection ties SoBe for the most extensive energy drink line-up known to man (Rockstar actually pretty much makes it a three-way tie, read on).

Rockstar

To me, this drink's gimmicky name and associated slogans are entirely lame. It seems as if the people behind the name of the drink did not trust the average consumer's ability to understand analogies for the concept of energy, and landed with Rockstar - which conveniently comes packaged with a goody bag of painfully obvious clichA's. "Gee guys. When I drink this drink I feel like I wannaa I dunno it's awesome I think I wanna party! Ooh oohoooooh I know! I want to PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR! Hahaha did you hear that? I totally just made that connection on the fly! Ahh oh ooooh that's so cool because rockstars like, you know - get crazy pumped up on life and totally bang all the hot chicks. This is awesome." Ok, enough of my rant. I'll get straight to the point - this drink is coffee's worst enemy. The original Rockstar was received moderately well. It was a little late in the game, but it made a statement with its own take on flavor and energy; oh the energy! I'm telling you, the company behind Rockstar simply gets us. The drinks that followed the original Rockstar, all 10 of them (PLUS some coffee flavors), each offered more caffeine than any other drink collection has the guts to. Some of the drinks may not be the tastiest out there, but they certainly don't gag you. But seriously, this drink line-up is the energy king.

      NOS is unhealthier than Monster but thats because it has more in the bottle. But if you really care about health then just get a NOS because it has a cap so you can drink some and save the rest for later unlike Monster where its in a can so you almost have to have it all at once.

      It takes about 20-30 minutes, but if you if you want to win you swimming every time drink 5 hour energy and two can of nos/monster

      It is actually best to stay away from energy drinks and alcohol during your period and especially during pregnancy. Also, you should keep caffeine to a limit during this time to a maximum of 2 cups of coffee a day (it doesn't have to be coffee but it's a measurement of how much caffeine is ok to intake)

      Btw, it would never say something like that on a bottle maybe about "don't take it during pregnancy" it might but for your period it would never say that on anything

      I had a Nos for the first time about two months ago--it was incredible...for a few minutes I didn't notice anything at all, and then my boyfriend looked at my hand and it was trembling. Then my heart started beating so hard and fast it almost hurt--it felt as if it were jumping out of my chest. The next twenty minutes were a blur, because I couldn't sit still or even really catch my breath. When I came down from it, I was a little achy all over and my knees were weak (not really sure why). It was an insane rush.

      Just a tip: if you chug it really fast, the effects are far more intense. Also, the first time is the most notable; after that your body starts building a defense against the chemicals and the effects are less spectacular after the first drink.

    How bad is it to drink NOS energy drink every other day?
    i drink maybe 3 a week at most, the least would be one a week, what negative consequences would most likely result from this?

    • ANSWER:
      NOS contains 343mg of caffeine. You can safely consume 350 to 400 mg of caffeine per day. Beyond that and consumption may interfere with growth/development. So you can safely consume 1 per day, assuming you aren't also combining with other caffeine or stimulant based drinks.

      That being said, any psycho-motor stimulant builds tolerance with prolonged use - in other words, over time you'll require more of the chemical to achieve the same effect. So every few weeks you'll want to make sure you take a week off.

      Caffeine is also a diuretic. One day without consuming enough water will dehydrate you. Aim for at least 3-4 liters per day if you're going to drink these on a regular basis.

      Additionally, arrhythmia is a common side effect of excessive stimulant use, but it's dependent on the person, medical history and other factors.

      Either way, 3 times a week is safe, as long as you drink a lot of water, take a break from it occasionally, and don't become habitually or chemically dependent on stimulants.

      Well, if this was your first one, you should tell someone, like your parents. You may be allergic to one of the ingredients, if you need medical help, someone has to know what's wrong. Tell someone.

      Don't drink any more anyway, they're bad for you, you're too young for them - at 15 if you need more energy, you should get more sleep.

      No you should not drink these together it is not safe. Too much caffeine can cause heart palpitations and other problems like severe headache. Don't even drink them in the same day.

      DO IT. unless you are unbelievably hypersensitive to caffeine or you plan on drinking extremely large quantities of the energy drink and vodka, it's not going to be a problem. drunk+raging. what more could you want.

      Energy drink companies are not anxious to report negative facts, so these facts are not available unless a test is made by a third party.

      Basically, water is is neutral at 7. Numbers lower than 4.5 can harm tooth enamel. Your stomach acid is 2. Regular Coca Cola is 2.5. Gatorade is 2.73. Red Bull is 3.0 - 3.3, depending on variety. I do not actually know how Red Bull compares to NOS, but they are both "energy drinks".

      There are books that give guides to ph levels in food, one of which is noted below. I do not know whether NOS levels are included in this or any other books.

      If you don't have any intrinsic heart problems, you're probably ok. However, we did have a teen boy come in to the ER after drinking 5 Red Bulls over a 2 hour time, which is only 400mg caffeine (your 3 Monsters have 480mg). He was in a heart arrhythmia that by itself is not fatal, but can progress to a fatal rhythm or, if left untreated, become so detrimental to the body that it can cause death.

      So be careful with energy drinks, especially if you don't have a tolerance built up.

      That is a very stupid idea to do that. NOS energy drinks are terrible for you and is generating an excess amount of cortisol, reducing your steroid hormones that you need to make good muscle. Testosterone is a steroid hormone made from cholesterol. Drinking energy drinks causes insulin & glucagon spikes that cause you to go into a state of stress and this causes the adrenal glands to fire and make cortisol, using up the very thing you need to make testosterone. Energy drinks are VERY DUMB products and have been banned in some countries due to giving people heart attacks.

      I have not done extensive research on the product on the product in question but I belief I can safely say that it will not affect your penis size. The chemical called Yellow-5 does not shrink your penis or kill your sperm that was an urban legend.

      I don’t know of any drinks that shrink your penis (or for that matter make it grow either). So drinking it should be safe. If it did do what you thought it might, do you think it would still be on the store shelfs?

      Energy drinks are considered "Natural Health Products" by government regulations for some reason, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. NOS, like any other energy drink, is nothing but a soft drink loaded with sugar and with caffeine, taurine and ginseng, among other things, added to give you an energy boost. There is little to no nutritional value in these drinks.

    Im looking to purchase the NOS energy drink that is shown in the new fast and furious movie and love in Sydney Australia, anywhere I can buy it within Australia? I'm willing to get it sent from WA if i have to... but from America the cost is too high...

      Wow. You really want that drink. Well I would suggest checking in your local superstore, and see if they have it. e.g: Walmart, CVS, Shoprite. It they don't have it, i would suggest ordering a bunch of them via Amazon.com. Maybe Ebay, but i doubt that they have them.

    to all you energy drink fanatics: nos energy drink question.?
    so, yesterday i bought a can of nos. and i enjoyed it. a lot. i was looking over the can, and i noticed... where it says the energizing ingredients on the top, taurine is listed twice. it says TAURINE+ginseng+caffeine+TAURINE+l-carnitine. does this seem weird to anyone? i was trying to figure out why. taurine is spelled the same both times, and if they wanted to fill up the whole rim they could have just used bigger letters. tell me your thoughts.

      Maybe they doubled the taurine? That would be my only guess

    NOS Energy Drink Taste?
    Does anyone know the flavor of the Orange NOS Energy Drink? I know it tastes like something I've had before but I can't remember what. I just want to know because I'd like to drink other things with the same flavor, just not an energy drink because it's not good for you and what not. lol I know the red one is Fruit Punch and the purple is Grape, but what is orange?
