QUESTION:
is the energy drink pitbull any safer to drink than redbull?
also does it contain any dangerous ingredients-
ANSWER:
drink vitamin water!!all the the ingredients in energy drinks these days have soo many things that are harmful to the stomach and in time will do GREAT damage. plus when it comes to energy drinks as americans we drink to excess which only makes things worse!
Some people are especially sensitive to caffeine, showing symptoms of caffeine sensitivity (tremors, sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal upsets) following consumption of relatively small doses of caffeine. Those who suffer these adverse reactions to caffeine-containing drinks such as coffee should not consume energy drinks. People with heart disease should avoid
large intakes of caffeine. The sudden 'jolt' to metabolism caused by caffeine (which is a stimulant) can be enough to trigger a heart attack in people with pre-existing heart conditions. Pregnant women are also well advised to avoid high-caffeine beverages. During the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy, consuming as little as 100 mg of caffeine per day was associated with an increased risk of spontaneous abortion in studies conducted in Sweden.remember there are more things in these drinks than just caffiene!

QUESTION:
expired energy drink?
I need to stay up all night and study and all I have in my fridge is expired Pitbull Energy Drink, about 5 days oldIs it okay to drink? I really CANNOT get sick tonight!
thanx for the answers guys!
-
ANSWER:
If it's about five days old, you should be fine.As far as 'best before' dates on foodstuffs go, it's not like at midnight on that day, all the bacteria and mould and stuff suddenly begin their attack. Bread for example, can potentially be eaten for a week or more after the expiry date, as long as it's not too dry and there's no visible mould.
Just try it and if it tastes fine, it probably is.

QUESTION:
pitbull puppy appetite?
i have an 8 month old male puppy, just since the last two days he does not seem to eat as much as he used to, he eats in the morning but then not in the evening, and today he never ate in the morning just smelt it, has a little nibble then left it.. i thought it might be because he doesnt get to run around the yard the whole day like he used to but since i put him in his run i take him for 2 longer walks per day so he does get excercise.. he is still full of energy and runs about.. and i normally give him a mix of wet and dry twice a day but that dont work, so i gave him just wet and it dont work.. just dry and it dont work.. but then if i get half a pint of puppy milk mix in some weetabix and sometimes an egg he will finish it in 5 seconds.. he drinks water as normal.. in the morning my mum normally feeds him and he used to eat.. at night i feed him and he only eats if i hand feed him but it seems like he's not eating to fill up but he's eating to please me because bits of food be dropping out of his mouth but he wouldnt care to pick them up.. he eats his treats as normal when i train him.. the only other thing i do is i give him bones from the petshop, (i think there pig legs, and cows legs) just one bone a day and he loves them, and eats them till just the little bit in the middle is left... it also seems as if he's got all his adult teeth apart from the set behind his front teeth, they look smaller then the rest and look like there coming through.. but if he can eat a hard bone i cant seem to think why he would eat the food he has been eating since he was 2 months old... help....-
ANSWER:
Well i am an owner of a beautiful 4 month old puppy. And she gets tons of excercise however, at about 3 months she stopped eating as much as she had before and now what we do is mix wet with dry dog food. But before doing that we switched dog foods completely. And than she started eating again like her normal self. It could just be that he is getting bored with his food and wants some kind of variety, if that doesn't work, take him to the vet he could be coming down sick.

QUESTION:
i believe my dog was starved, help!!?
i had my friends aunt watch my puppy for three weeks while i went on vacation. he is a 5 month old pitbull. when i left him he was healthy and vibrant and had lots of energy, he was a good body weight and very muscular. i came to pick him up today and he is skinny as shit and very lethargic. he wont play he wont eat even when i try to give him his favorites. you can see that he has lots a lot of weight, almost can see his ribs, i dont think she fed him at all while i was gone. also his poop is liquid. he was fine when i left him, i dont know what to do now ot get him to eat again. he wont touch anything, he did however drink some water. any advice on how i can get him to eat again??? please help.
i agree she will recieve a grand ass whopping cuz he was fine when i left him .he has had shots and the like so im sure its not worms.
my problem is he wont eat, how do i get him to eat food, even the little bit at first. he is turning his head away. or do i just need to wait it out the night and see if his hunger kicks on in the morning?-
ANSWER:
I don't think that the person starved him. I believe he has a disease, and needs a trip to the vet's clinic tomorrow..Really! He doesnt sound starved, he sounds really sick.
.If he was in her yard, it could be cocci, or even corona..there are many illnesses a pup can get, and he needs treatment fast if he is to have a chance of recovery.
Just because he has had his Parvo shots, it is no guarantee that he can't get it.. It has happened to mine..

QUESTION:
Depression with Prometrium?
So I have PCOS, and my doc has me on prometrium on days 17 through 26 of my cycle. Last night was the last one of taking the prometrium this cycle (though I had a period all last week, so I'm not sure how this next one is gonna go...). Today I just feel depressed. I was very anxious about maybe getting to foster a pitbull, but my husband and I decided against it. Let me rephrase: I couldn't get my husband to agree to it. Between that, it's been a long workweek, I'm tired, and I can't get pregnant, I am just emotionally drained and depressed! The good thing I can think of is that I'm halfway to my weight loss goal (I've made it 19 lbs in the last 8 weeks - yay!), but I can't even really find the energy to be thrilled about that. I just feel so drained, like I don't have energy to be happy, eat, drink (water), play with my dogs, or do anything I would normally be interested in doing. Of course I'm not suicidal or anything, I know my life is going just fine, I just can't seem to be happy about anything. To top it off, my mother in law has started trying to tell my husband and I what we can and can't do (she was very objected to the fostering), and I just can't seem to get over that, because she does stuff like that all the time! She's still in denial that we are trying to get pregnant, because we are 21 and she thinks we are nuts for even wanting to think of having children yet. That was WAY longer than I expected, but my basic question is: when you are on, or go off prometrium, is depression a side effect? Thanks in advance for any helpful answers!-
ANSWER:
Yes.
Good luck
I am sure you will be a wonderful mother

QUESTION:
I hate my dog, What can I do?
Me and my wife have 2 dogs a 7 year old pit bull and a 2 year old weimaraner. The pitbull is great always has been. never chews, never even had to crate train or anything. Now the weimeraner.. I am about fed up. He destroys things constantly. We have two children and coming home to chewed up diapers is probably the worst thing you could come home to. Everywhere, all over the floor the beds etc.
We have tried EVERYTHING! Tried crate training, he's gone through 3. They are too expensive to keep buying them for him to destroy. He wears a muzzle when we leave the house now, but he can chew things with it on.
Can't leave him outside because he would bark constantly and the neighbors will call the cops.
Muzzles don't work
Crates don't work
How do you train him not to do something when he only does it when your not there?
They have muzzles that would prevent him from chewing but then he can't eat or drink.
If I lock him in a room he will scratch up the door chew carpet etc.I know he is a high energy dog, but he gets alot of exercise! The two dogs run around and play in our large yard, and we play fetch alot.
I don't know what there is left for me to do or try.
Oh yeah and the door to the babies room is always left closed when we leave, and we use a diaper genie. Nothing stops him.
somebody please help.
The dog is very well trained actually knows many commands, I work with him in the field and he is a very good bird hunter. Lots of training has gone into this dog and is much more obedient then the "well behaved" dog. I can tell him to sit and stay, walk around the block and he will still be there. Obedience isn't the issue here. Its behavioral problems. (only when we are not here)-
ANSWER:
Fetch and playing in the yard is not the right kind of exercise. Your dog needs walks and long ones. Weimeraners are sporting dogs and naturally high energy. If you can go on hour long walks with your dog put a backpack on him for additional weight. If you don't have the time for structured and disciplined pack activity (walking) please consider giving him up to a breed rescue.

QUESTION:
can anyone help with my puppy?
I have a seven month old pitbull puppy that has not eaten or drank anything in two days and she has no energy at all. All she wants to do is sleep, I have tried giving her water and all she does is throw it back up. She is now really really skinny and also i noticed that she has been having these red spots on he skin that look like rashes I took her to the vet and they told me that she was ok to give her small amounts of food but i am really concerned. Does anyone know what she might have or what can i do to help her out?-
ANSWER:
Find another vet! Vets that dismiss things too quickly just aren't worth the money we pay them. It sounds like your puppy has some real health issues going on, and needs the care of a good vet immediately!
Dogs do not just go off their feed and lose weight and throw up for no reason. And now the red spots! Please, find another vet and make sure they give you answers and run tests if they aren't sure. A good vet will do that without a second thought, instead of just dismissing you and saying to give her small amounts of food.
Good luck and I hope your puppy will be ok.

ANSWER:
It could be kennel cough. Even though she has had her bordatella she can still get it. Its like a doggie cold. Call your vet tell them it could be kennel cough and the should get you in sooner. If they still can't get you in call another vet see if they can get you in sooner explain everything and the other vet should call and have your dogs records from your vet faxed over.
If it is kennel cough you might get a medication called clavamox. If I were you I would get your little one into the vet sooner. And please don't give your dog cough syrup unless directed to by your vet because it could be harmful to her.
Good luck and I hope she feels better.

QUESTION:
Bully Breed Owners: Behavior Question?
Ive been researching the AmStaff for sometime, and this quote, which i read on a pro- pitbull site
"Always expect a Pitbull to fight" really stood out, and made me lose some confidenceI emailed the shelter about the dog, and this was there response
*its really long"I am glad that you are interested in Awena because she is a great dog. I have spent some time working with her and she has never showed any serious problems. She is the usual hyper dog when she gets out of the kennels but once I take her for a light walk and she is away from the noisy shelter she does great. I did most of the tests for the assesment and she did very well. She is great with people! Adults, kids, males, or females she doesn't care who it is as long as she gets attention. I walked her with other people around and didn't lunge or try to leave my side. With other dogs, even a small dog and all she wanted to do was play. She never showed aggression towards any other dog or any person. When I was walking her, a semi truck passed by and honked the horn and she did just fine, she initially jumped cause of the surprise but maintaned composure and kept walking. She will let anyone pet her, and has no problem with having someone come up to her handler and talk. I work with her in a little room where I sit down and noone else is there. I have people come in and she chooses to ignore them and focus on me. I have taken her food bowl and water bowl while she is eating or drinking and she doesn't react. She just looks at me and sits so I can put the bowl back down. I don't know how she is with cats but we have encountered squirrels and she definetely shows interest but never pulled me to try to get to the squirrel. Her general temperament is happy go lucky with a lot of energy and eager to please! She caught on very fast to some basic commands so she would be a snap to train. I'm by no means a vet but she looks very healthy and I suspect she is no more than 2 years old. I would say on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the highest, she is a 9. I hope this info can help. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me."
MY QUESTION is, would you apply that quote to this dog,
It sorta brought back bad memories, i lost my chihuahua to a pitbull, as a kid
and to tell you the truth, i feel sort of nervous nowI don't mind getting a bully breed, but this makes me want to think again
i know by asking this question, im being stereotypical, but its better to be safe than sorry
i know by asking this question, im being stereotypical, but its better to be safe than sorry
i know by asking this question, im being stereotypical, but its better to be safe than sorry-
ANSWER:
Yes,I would absolutely apply that quote to the dog in question.AmStaffs are usually less prey driven and have fewer dog aggression issues than APBTs.They have been bred away from the original drivey working dogs for at least 70 years. However, those genetic tendencies still exist.
If you are not prepared for dominance and aggression issues, you will be behind the eight ball if they arise. The dog itself may be dog social, but if another dog presses its luck, don't expect this dog to back down or shy away from a fight.
The theory is to prepare for the worst and train and manage the dog for success. As I said,if you're not prepared for the worst, you will have a hard time reacting to and rationalizing an incident if it occurs.

QUESTION:
Does this sound like a survival story to put in a survivors article for pets?
April 10,2010My mom's dog and I were simply just walking in the field where we normally walk everyday. Suddenly,I had seen the familiar American PitBull whom we seen some wks ago.(We were actually right by this pitbull before.. everything was fine. No agressions,no attempts to hurt.. Nothing happened THAT day). I said with a friendly smile, "Oh look, remember this dog;the dog we seen recently?" My mom's dog barked & backed away. I told her "NO Barking!" Because she always bark at random innocent animals (who's leashed!). This time, she barked for actual protection. I found out ltr. So I'm noticing the American Pittbull's eyes were still on my moms pup,so I kept my eyes on her but before I knew it,the pit crept @ my leg,bit my mother's dog on her left side.she screeched! I cried, screamed, yelled for help to help my puppy! Noone had came yet. I responded quickly by grabbing my moms puppy by the string of her collar, spun her around in mid air, while still yelling for help with tears clouding my eyes. Noone was coming. I guess with each turn,I didn't realize my arms was going down. So the pitt managed to get my pup somehow,(I don't remember).
My energy level was getting low, I had trouble breathing, the pitt had my pup's neck in her jaws. I yelled for someone to help Please!!! Seconds ltr, men from the neighbors were helping us. I'm told someone had a 3x4 & a stick, hitting the dog. They were scared also. Yes.Even the owner was very careful! (Or at least I thought he was the owner). Last thing I seen was my pup in the american pitbulls mouth. The pit somehow managed to let go. Don't know what happened! I was still crying drastically. I thought my mothers pup was gone.Suddenly, she moved a little bit,got up, & backed away from everyone. She finally came to me with tears in her eyes & a wet somewhat bloody coat from pits saliva. The man who helped us most & stayed @ most also called the police. 2 polices arrived within less than a min. Still terrified, crying, & traumatized, One police asked for my address,I couldn't think. Struggling to talk, crying, I told him I don't remember. So he asked me to call my mom for the info. So I did. My mom rushed to the scene. I couldn't stop thanking everyone! I continued walking my mom's dog. She did her business, she was afraid to be touched or even get inside the car. After I had finished walking her, I gently placed her in the car,we arrived home. From there, my mom cleaned her pups wounds. I didn't realize I had gotten scratched up or bitten until one of the police's had told me. I didn't care. Nor did I feel what happened! So I cleaned my injuries & they highly recommend I go to the hospital for potential virus infection(s). Still cleaning her pups wounds, the peroxide & blood soaked into the concrete of our porch. Her pup kept moving towards me shaking a bit. We took her inside. She didn't eat that day nor drank anything. She always does 1 or the other. She was in so much distressing pain she just passed the food up.
NOW, her reflexes are: trembling, standing up straight just STARING blankly at the wall. We show her a lot of tlc! <3
She's slowly trying to eat again.A day ltr she barely ate a handful. After eating, she moaned & layed beside me. So far, she's slowly getting around. she feels the love given to her =]As Far as this Viscious Huge American brown pitbull goes, Animal Control has picked her up. She will be in 'Quaratine' for 10 days. My mom & I are fighting to keep her in there longer! Animal Control,Polices, & detectives have been contacting me. "Since I was injured in the attack Also." REGARDLESS if she's my mom's dog, I WAS ATTACKED! I was asked by the police did I won't to sue/make a claim report. I said "Yes". He added that ALL possible compensation will go towards her pup! I told him I'm Suing 4 HER.IM SUING 2 KEEP DANGEROUS ANIMALS OFF THE St! Preventing innocent animals from getting harmed even more! That's what I will Be on that Stand for, fighting 4 Justice! NOT MONEY! I'm in it Strictly for 'DOGS lives' saving an innocent life! So many victims die everyday from noone speaking out against animal cruelty/abuse! She Survived! She's here! That's all that matters! She has not went to the vet yet because we can't afford to take her at this time. But in the meantime, we are cleaning her wounds every single day! One docter I seen for my minor injuries was sadden by this story and had a simular incident & told me, my mother's pup (the lil chihuahua) will die. I told her, with faith in the LORD, everything will be fine.
In Conclusion; My mother's pup is improving. =]
She's becoming a bit playful,very clingy again
She's Blessed![This is Our survival story which took place 5 days ago. *Based on a TRUE STORY*]

Should I submit this or no

ANSWER:
Well for one thing, "pit bull" is not a breed, it's a type, so I would go for a specific breed if I were you. I would submit it if you want to, it's your choice. It's a good story.

QUESTION:
1yr old dog wont eat, vomits yellow fluid, what to do?
My 1 yr old dog is vomiting yellow fluid & will not eat. From what I read online it could be a number of things. The yellow fluid, i found out, is bile from the stomach. When a dog vomits yellow bile, it's basicically written off as having bad gastral issues and an overactive stomach acid. Dogs usually vomit first thing in the morning or right after meals or after a long vigorous walk/exercise. So since he's been vomiting, we've shortend his walk to just 1 block.. Now he doesnt seem to want to walk anywhere, or eat anything. He just sits curled in a ball, moving from couch, to floor, to couch every few hours..and only moving to the back door once he needs to urinate. Since he's at such a young age of 1 yrs old, he's usually getting himself into trouble by grabbing items off tables so we can chase him.. loves his walks & running & meeting ppl.. and he usually sits by you when you're eating (hoping you'll throw him a scrap or two).. But for the past 4 days he's been moping around, not intrested in food, not intrested in walks, but at least he's drinking water..So here's a basic day to day lately:
1. Friday morning he puked up yellow bile for the first time around 6 or 7am. he went on a walk and was eager to have his breakfast.. but he vomited that up. We went online and thought his symptoms matched up to gastric reflux and we were directed to give him 2 tablespoons of Pepto Dismal (he's a 55lbs Pitbull) twice a day before mealsand to take him off of his regular dry dog food. We were instrucet to give him a bland diet of boiled rice and/or boiled skinless chicken breast or boiled ground beef. We the ground beef the first day and he seemed okay.. but then he vomited maybe twice more that evening (no beef in vomit). But we noticed a lot of things that werent food in the bile such as sunflower seed shells, bits of plastic/rubber from his toy, hair, some unidentifiable tiny pieces. He pooped a small amount of soft stool (smaller than usual)..
2. Second day he wasnt even thinking about eating. but we gave him Pepto and he was okay.. about an hour or so later we fed him boiled chicken and he gobbled it right up.. he was still a bit inactive adn tired looking so we let him rest. Later on that evening we tried to give him more boiled chicken but he didnt want.. so i tried to hand feed him despite him turning away from me, and he vomited right there. it seemed the smell of the chicken, or the thought of eating make him sickly..
3. Third day, no eating whatsoever.. moping around still, we gave him pepto and a few moments later he vomited a tiny bit of pepto, but no bile.. we also bought NutriCal meal supplement for him so he could gain appatite, but it didnt work. But at least he had the nutrients because he began to look very gaunt and sickly.. the third day was his birthday, he could not eat his birthday steak
4. Fourth day no eating, but he has been drinking lots of water and keeping Pepto & NutriCal down.. He's looking much healthier i think & has actually shown signs of activity (tail wagging, sniffing around) but only for a few moments, then back to moping & napping.. I also noticed he's been doing alot of standing in one place and staring for about 1-2 minutes before moving to the next spot to nap. He just seems drained of all energy and unintrested in eating still.. I read today that it could be a Lymphoma, but none of his glands are swollen, also he's a young dog, so this is ruled out almost immediatly.. He did poop a good amount. It was a typical soft stool. There are never any foreign objects in his stool. He's had his shots so we've ruled out Parvo virus and worms..
5. No vomiting today. He's had NutriCal & a little Pepto in the morning.. lots of napping, some staring.. he's a bit more alert which is good, but still not intrested in eating. We will try to blend a concoction of boiled chicken & NutriCal to force feed him today because he really needs some food in his system..Could he not be eating because he's afraid? Since this is his first time being sick I figure he's afraid of eating because he doesnt want to vomit...or could it be because he has intestinal blockage and nothing is passing through?
Please help if you can! We really dont have the 0 for a vet visit and multiple tests.. i would like to solve this problem at home, if we can..
Thanks for your time!

ANSWER:
Sorry but a vet is the only qualified person to diagnose your dog. There isn't a way to solve this at home. Beg, borrow or sell what you have to & take your pet to vet - this is part of pet ownership.

QUESTION:
Is my dog hurt or sick?
I took my 1 1/2 year old dog outside this morning and he was running around playing in the snow and having fun. He did take two poops, which looked kinda soft (not diarehea though), but that is not too uncommon for him. I went to the store for about an hour and came back and he just didn't seem right. He would lay there and whine (which he does when he wants to go outside.) He is a very active dog and was not moving too much. I took him outside, but he came in and continued to whine/cry. He sounded like he was in some pain (different than his usual whine). I tried figuring out what is wrong with him. He just sits down and doesn't want to "lay" down. When I get him to lay down, it seems like he is in pain. I thought something might have been wrong with his leg or hip because it seems like he is hurting when he moves (mostly laying down, but not while walking although he is walking/moving much slower). I took him outside again a few hours later to see how he would move and he was jogging around the yard and he didn't look like he was limping or anything. I also have moved his legs in all different directions and he doesn't let out any signs of pain when I play with his legs/hips. However, he is a pit bull mix so he probably has a high pain tolerance. It seems like he is in pain mostly when he tries to lay down, not while walking or sitting. He is big for a pit bull (about 75-80 pounds) so I am wondering if it is a hip problem? But he is only a year and a half and in very good shape (I exercise him every day). He is an extremely strong dog and I am wondering if maybe he pulled a muscle? All the signs point to a pulled muscle except that he moves around the yard pretty well (he wasn't sprinting, but there is about a foot of snow and he was kinda "marching" and jogging through it). Something is definitely wrong with him. I am wondering if he is sick or hurt? I was worried about bloat, but he hasn't eaten anything all day and he was fine yesterday. He even refused to eat treats, but has since eaten a very small amount of dry food. He is drinking water though. So basically I have a couple of questions:
1) What can be hurt in a dogs leg (something like twisting an ankle or knee?) (I know dogs don't have ankles!) Does it sound like he could have pulled a muscle? (That would be my most likely guess)
2) If a dog pulled a muscle or twisted something in its leg, could they still move/jog around the yard without signs of pain? (He is a pitbull so his pain tolerance is probably higher than most dogs even though he is really a big baby)
3) Why would my dog only be hurting when it tries to lay down, but not walk? (This is why I think there might be something wrong with his stomach? but I don't know) Cuz when he lays down, his stomach stretches and he seems hurt, but maybe it is his leg that is hurting.
4) What kinds of sicknesses can a dog get? It almost seems like he has the flu. I would guess he is just sick (because of refusing to eat, not a lot of energy, moping around, keeping head down) if it wasn't for the crying he makes when he goes from sitting to laying down. Also, when he is laying down his back legs were shaking uncontrollably pretty bad. That is when I was trying to examine him. He continued to shake for several hours (not non-stop of course. just when he was lying down on his stomach.) The shaking has me pretty worried because he has never done that before except for maybe a few times when he was scared. He has since layed down (on his side which is more comfortable) and is not shaking. He only seems to shake in his back legs when he is lying on his stomach (when he goes from sitting to laying).Additional details: Not every time my dog lays down does he seem like he is in pain. Right now he just layed down without a problem. Also, he let out painful crying/whining sounds while just sitting there earlier, but then when he went to lay down it went almost to a high-pitched shreak which scared me. He seems like he is hurt. Would a dog cry/shreak if it was sick/ill or is he definitely hurt?
Finally, I want to see if my dog gets better by tomorrow before I take him to a vet. Also, I don't know what is wrong with him so I'm not sure if the vet could help him. I don't feel like paying hundreds of dollars for X-rays to see if he could have broken something (I'm pretty sure he didn't).
So if your only advice is "Please take your dog to a vet", then please refrain from posting. Any ideas of what could be wrong or if something similar has happened to your medium/large breed dog (especially pit bulls) then please give me some ideas. If I had to guess I would say he is either sick or pulled a muscle? Are these possible? I heard dogs don't get colds so I don't know what to think.
Thanks for reading all this. 10 points best answer. Thanks in advance!!
Thanks. I was thinking the same thing about his neck/back. However, he seemed fine running around this morning and then he was just sitting in the house for an hour and I came back and noticed something was wrong. He is young and in very good shape so I don't think it could be an "old age" thing. What I mean is that I believe an isolated incident is the most likely cause, not detorioration or anything like that. However, I did let him sleep in my bed last night (which I usually don't do). Is it possible he just slept funny and hurt his back or neck like people can do? The only reason I doubt this is because he is a very strong pit bull and his neck is as strong as a body builder. But maybe he slept funny and hurt his back? I dunno...

Thanks for the insight though. If he doesn't get better tomorrow I am going to take him to the vet. Just trying to get some ideas of if he is seriously hurt or just sick with the flu or something that will go away.-
ANSWER:
Dogs are pretty resilient. I would wait a day...as long as he is eating (at least a little) and drinking water. If he still seems like certain positions cause him pain, I'd have him evaulated by a vet. Most vets (in my experience, at least) are pretty aware of how expensive interventions are and will do their best to minimize your cost while maximizing your pet's health. In a very active dog, especially in deep snow, a pulled muscle sounds about right...I think you may have nailed it. If he's pulled a chest muscle, it would make him uncomfortable to lay down. Good luck, and congratulations on being a caring and responsible dog owner.

QUESTION:
My dog has been losing his fur.?
My dog is a boxer/pitbull/staffordshire. Hes about 2 years old. He started losing his fur the starting of summer 2008. (June) He was perfectly fine and healthy before that. Full of energy, lots of muscle. Where I live any type of pitbulls are banned, so one day the cops stopped me & told me I had 2 start tying him up. So I did. I couldnt play with him as much. & I thought he became depressed. He started losing fur on his neck, which I Thought it was from a leather collar, so I didnt think anything of it, just switched to a different collar. Finally about in late July, I moved off white land to a reservation. (There is no ban here) But was told if I ever brought him off reserve they will take him & put him down.
He kept getting worse. It turned into raw and red, and grose. And a grose smell. I kept trying to think of all the things it could b, i remembered he always shoke his ears alot, earlier that year. Also I thought it might be an allergy to a food. He does have his puppy shots and shots till he was one. Now to this day, its been on and off, gettin a little bit better, and worse again. I've bin giving him cod liver oil pills, and bathing him regularly. Still no luck. I Notice he isnt as active or play ful any more & seems weak ? He always smells weird, and just sleeps. He also seems sore when he walks. His fur still looks like black spots of skin, with scabs. I THINK it might be a yeast infection.
At this point I have no clue what to do. There is no VET on a reserve, & I dont know if I can chance it, taking him off reserve land, and taking him to the vet, I dont want him put down.
He still eats good big meals, drinks. Etc.
If anyone can tell me some home remedies I can use that will be very helpful. I love my dog to pieces, and I Dont want nothing to happen to him.
Well People Keep Tellin Me 2 Take Him 2 The Vet. I Have The Money For The Vet, But Im Not Allowed To Take Him Off Indian Land, Cause There Is No Ban Here, But Once I Take Him Too White Land & They Find Out They Can Seize My Dog & Put Him Down, It Was Apart Of The Agreement Of Them Letting Me Take Him Home In The First Place. Thats Why Im Looking For Other Options. Its Cruel, But Since There Is A Pitbull Ban Here, A VERY Strict One, I Cannot Take Him To The Vet. The Vet Can Easily Call The Cops & Take My Dog.
Its Hard 2 Explain As I Guess No One Knows What It Is Like Unless You Live Here, Its VERY Confusing And Plain Stupid, No Dog Should Be Rejected For Health Care, Just Like Any Person, But I Guess It Is What It Is, & Its The Price I Pay For Owning An Illegial Dog.
My dog is only 2, And I Got Him AFTER The Pitbull Ban
I Guess Im Going To Have To Try Something With The Vet. I Dont Know Whats Wrong With Pitbulls. I Guess The Stupid Ban. Your Dog Cant Even Leave The House Without A Muzzle Cause Of The Ban,
But Yes My Dog Is VERY Friendly, And Listens Well, Even The 1 Younger Police Officer Really Liked Him, When I Picked My Dog Up At The Police Station, I Had Him On A Leash, And Someone Was Walking Their Black Lab By, And The Lab Was Just Barking And Trying To Break Lose From Its Owner, And My Dog Was Just Laying Down By My Feet Behaving Well.
Like Pitbulls Arent bad & I Truly Hate The Ban.-
ANSWER:
You will need to see a vet to find out what exactly the issue is.No one on the internet can tell you what it is or how to fix it without running some lab work. this lab work could include a blood test and skin scrapings.
Your vet will be more then happy to help you resolve this issue.
Call the vets outside of your reserve and find out if any will do house calls and what the laws are outside the reserve. Your dog needs to see a vet.. treating it with the wrong thing could make it worse.

QUESTION:
pitbull puppy appetite?
i have an 8 month old male puppy, just since the last two days he does not seem to eat as much as he used to, he eats in the morning but then not in the evening, and today he never ate in the morning just smelt it, has a little nibble then left it.. i thought it might be because he doesnt get to run around the yard the whole day like he used to but since i put him in his run i take him for 2 longer walks per day so he does get excercise.. he is still full of energy and runs about.. and i normally give him a mix of wet and dry twice a day but that dont work, so i gave him just wet and it dont work.. just dry and it dont work.. but then if i get half a pint of puppy milk mix in some weetabix and sometimes an egg he will finish it in 5 seconds.. he drinks water as normal.. in the morning my mum normally feeds him and he used to eat.. at night i feed him and he only eats if i hand feed him but it seems like he's not eating to fill up but he's eating to please me because bits of food be dropping out of his mouth but he wouldnt care to pick them up.. he eats his treats as normal when i train him.. the only other thing i do is i give him bones from the petshop, (i think there pig legs, and cows legs) just one bone a day and he loves them, and eats them till just the little bit in the middle is left... it also seems as if he's got all his adult teeth apart from the set behind his front teeth, they look smaller then the rest and look like there coming through.. but if he can eat a hard bone i cant seem to think why he would eat the food he has been eating since he was 2 months old... help....-
ANSWER:
Change in appetite always means a vet visit, to be safe. You want to be sure he hasn't picked up worms or other parasites and hasn't got an illness.Remember to ONLY give your dog animal products (bones, bullysticks) that are MADE IN U.S.A. Products from other countries can have toxic chemicals on it, and do not give your pit rawhide. Ever.
You might also consider if he's loosing his appetite from too many training treats and adjust accordingly, since he eats fine for your mom in the morning but not at night, for you.
