By adding certain vitamins and minerals to traditional beverages, manufacturers saw exponential growth in their drink sales. Not only were people drawn to the enhanced products, but they were also willing to pay top dollar for the added benefits. Drinks that would normally cost a customer a dollar were now able to be sold for three and four dollars. Coffee houses have been doing this for years, but the bottled drink industry now realized how profitable it could be.

Adding more caffeine wasn't the only option either. Manufacturers found that adding things like guarnine and taurine gave drinks the appeal of helping with endurance and energy, while things like artificial sweeteners could help to be advertised as diet enhancing drinks. With fruity flavors, they could also be marketed to younger age groups as well.

What's more interesting is the fact that the energy drink industry continues to expand without slowing down in sales. Even with the many choices that are available, people are still buying energy drinks in large quantities. You can also find these drinks in a number of places, which adds to their overall profit capability. Gas stations, grocery stores, and even schools are now carrying the energy drinks as they seem to be healthier' than sodas and much more appealing.

The energy drink trend is also becoming stylish among the younger age groups. Instead of carrying around a typical soda bottle, people feel much more hip carrying around a nicely labeled energy drink. The sleek look creates interest in the drink and even helps to advertise it as the drinker carries it around. Bars are even stocking energy drinks and creating new mixed cocktails with the drink as a main ingredient.

      My liquer store sells it for 2.50. But the price in general depends on where you buy it. So I think it's pretty cheap for 99 cents. As far as it tasting "good" I can't really tell you. I don't personally drink energy drinks too much. I've tasted Rock Star Energy maybe 10 times in my life. It taste like carbonated/fizzy medicine.

      Ha really depends, if u get the triple sized rockstar it will give u energy all day so if u want to stay up later then u should drink one. the double sized & most popular rockstar will give u energy for about 7 hours i recommend this one if u want energy during the day and the ability to fall asleep haha. And despite what many people say i never crash but thats just my experience my friends sometimes crash but not untill its late and you usually dont need energy when its that late .

      I think that because you were nervous and your anxiety level was probably quite high, the energy drink overloaded you hence you felt like passing out because your body wasn't able to control itself with the excess energy. Usually if you're feeling nervous, it's better to have a cup of tea or something to calm you down. Avoid the rock star.

      It's worth what someone is willing to pay. The fact that a Rockstar snowboard is not commercially available could make someone willing to pay more for it. If I were you I would put it up on ebay and see how much it goes for, you didn't pay for the board so you're not gonna lose much and you'll probably fetch a pretty fair price for it.

      I've only tried the sugar free energy drinks (way less calories) and I like the diet Rockstar, but I like the lo-card Monster better (blue labeling). I also like the Max Velocity (silver with a cheetah on it) & Sugar Free Sobe. My favorite is definitely the Lo-Carb Monster, it's sweeter & not quite as strongly carbonated as the others. Give 'em a try & see what you think.
      As a college student, I can tell you that yes, they will help you to stay up while cramming for a psychology final!!! hehehe, I tested that theory this week!

      Yes, of course. Such beverages would only arouse suspicion if you were transporting, say, several cases of it. Similarly, if you had alcohol in the car and you were under-aged, that could potentially be problematic. But nobody will care if you're consuming a non-alcoholic beverage.

      you're very dehydrated mate...... the caffeine in those drinks will make you peesh heaps and dehydrate you wickedly ....... drink more water please and avoid the fatigue and exhaustion, constipation, moodiness and irritability, dizzy spells, tummy aches and even excessive yawning that can all be caused by dehydration.

      Absolutely. These drinks contain far too much caffeine in them, which is not good for children of any age. It's not good for adults either. Some even have labels not to consume more than 2 cans a day, as it can increase your heart rate to an abnormal level. I'm not sure if it affects brain development, but too much caffeine cannot be good.

      Like with most enery drinks Rock Star is full of sugar. Much more than a soda. So you will get sugar rush and then crash. It also has a ton of caffeine. Though caffeine is a stimulant and can last for at least 4 hours it also takes more water to process than a caffeinated beverage contains. This means it dehydrates you. When dehydrated we become tired and lethargic. So this means that the caffeine will actually intensify the sugar crash.

      Now if you offset the caffeine with at least an equal amount of water as energy drink then you will be fine. The extra water will offset the additinal water needed by the caffeine and depending on the caffeine levels and water taken will hydrate you more. Proper hydration will increase motabolism and energy levels by 3%. Also it is possible to not notice the sugar crash much if you are properly hydrated. The water and caffeine will keep you going through the sugar crash.

      Well people say that Rock Star taste better but I have not had it myself.

      They both have equal amounts of sugar. They both have caffeine levels of 80 mg per serving. Rockstar has an extra B vitamin than Red Bull but the levels ar all lower

      RB B2-0 B3-100% B5-50% B6-250% B12-80%
      RS B2-200% B3-50% B5-50% B6-50% B12-50%

      So I would have to say that Red Bull should be stronger per serving.

      I have mixed red bull with smirnoff triple black before....Had a funky taste...didnt pep me up...Red bull tastes the same as rock star...rock star will give you energy but it and red bull both have bitter tastes....for some weird reason No Fears taste like cheese...i dont like them....Full throttle is the best plus it has 3 different flavors..not to mention a slushy at sonic now....and it will give u a perk but its not good for a fast paced work environment...makes you ill and makes ur heart pound for hrs and makes you feel shaky...Vault just wasnt bubbly enough and i felt sleepy so therefore it sucks....

      They all can cause you to crash. One of the reasons people experience the crash is because they drink the energy drink fast causing you to get too much caffeine. FYI guarana is used in some energy drinks and this contains caffeine. To avoid a crash try drinking the energy drink slowly, otherwise find one without caffeine in it such as Hair of the Dog or some XS energy drinks.

      You're looking for something to give you long lasting energy. All the energy drinks you mentioned will rapidly increase your metabolism, increase the amount of energy you'll need and dehydrate you. Plus 30 hours with a racing heartbeat's not particularly good for anyone, the risk of cardiac or muscular damage and collapse from electrolyte imbalance is huge.

      Please let your church know that energy drinks should never be used for a fast, it's dangerous. Nothing with caffeine, guarana or taurine should be used.

      For short term rehydration, try gatorade - very good electrolyte profile. To prevent you from feeling hungry, protein-rich drinks such as liquid breakfast alternatives or smoothies are the outright best choice (if this is allowed). Flavoured milk drinks will fill you up best. This kinda goes against the spirit of the fast, though, so see what they want.

    I have been drinking Rock Star for 4 months now, but am having change in bowels.The change in bowel habbits just barley started about a month ago.I also lost weight recently. Can this be related to an energy drink?

      I'm not sure about the symptoms you are having, but there has been reports of people drinking Red Bull, Monster, Bawls, Rock Star, etc, who have have seizures triggered to the caffeine.

      about ninety percent of them taste like urine and they don't really do much except keep me up late if I end up drinking them. too much can do permanent damage to your cardiovascular system due to the increased heart rate from all the ingredients.
