Many of us turn to energy drinks daily in order to improve our activity at work or at school. We gain that often needed burst of energy by consuming these drinks during a time of exhaustion and/or high productivity. However, what many of us don't realize is that energy drinks can be quite beneficial when it comes down to losing weight.
Energy drinks are slowly becoming more and more beneficial to one's health. When energy drinks first appeared on the market they were loaded with sugar and other unrecognizable ingredients; however, as time passed, energy drinks have gained several nutritional and health values. A number of the new energy drinks are made-up of healthier ingredients, such as vitamins, amino-acids and antioxidants. They also contain no sugar and extremely low calorie count. Furthermore, some of the energy drinks out there contain ingredients which can suppress your appetite and increase metabolism.
With all of the new health benefits attributed to energy drinks, it is no surprise that these drinks are a good source of vitality during exercise. Consuming one of these drinks prior to your exercise regimen will provide you with that oomph which is often missing during the beginning of a workout. However, drink plenty of water during your exercise regimen because energy drinks trigger the kidney's to remove extra fluid into the urine (this is referred to as the diuretic effect). A combination of the diuretic effect and sweating can lead to dehydration. Energy drinks are a great source of power and they will improve the intensity of your workout if used properly. It is also important to remember that energy drinks are a great companion to exercise; they will not help you lose weight all by themselves. You can't simply sit on the couch and drink energy drinks and expect to lose weight. Energy drinks work best when they are combined with regular exercise. So the next time you feel tired and you want to skip an exercise session, grab a healthy energy drink in order to boost your energy and your health.

QUESTION:
Is this true regarding Rockstar Energy drink's creator and CEO?
What I can say about Michael Savage is that this guy is a piece of $#!t! I heard a caller tell him that he was young, had a nice job and that his girlfriend was pregnant. He didn't want to have a baby and wanted his girlfriend to abort. That he was scared and really didn't want to be a father. So Savage tells the caller to invite his girlfriend over and have her drink wine and sit in a hot tub for about an hour. The caller said what for? Savage then proceeds to him, "Well you see, wine and sitting in a boiling hot tub of water will kill the baby in her. Since you want her to abort it you can play dumb when she starts to bleed and miscarriage!"I have never been appalled at anything in my life until that day. Savage is not human. Talk about a waste of life!
This article says that he's against abortion! I'm confused.

QUESTION:
Do energy drinks really work? Which ones are best?
I start a new job training tonight from 11pm-7am..then I have another 1 day job from 9am-2pm. I am probably gonna have a hard time staying awake. I bought a rockstar energy drink and starbucks double shot coffee+energy. Are these any good? Also will I just loose energy and fall asleep at some point?-
ANSWER:
Energy drinks ~ sugary coffee. They offer similar levels of stimulants (caffeine) and cheap calories (sugar). They do work, but just how well they work depends more on the fine details of your metabolism than the drink you choose. You'll need to carefully manage the caffeine crashes.

QUESTION:
How to I kick the caffeine habit?
Ok, I read earlier on Yahoo that 300mg of caffeine was considered "Moderate" usage and safe. With the combination of NoDoz, Diet Mt. Dew, and Rockstar energy drinks I consume in a day I'm between 1,800mg and 2,100mg of caffeine a day. If I go more than an hour without anything I get a bad headache and really grumpy. I work midnights, and my job requires me to be alert at all times. If 300mg is moderate, I'd hate to see what category I'm in. Any help would be appriciated.-
ANSWER:
Hi! I quit using caffeine several years ago. The best way to stop using is to decrease slowly so as to minimize the withdrawl (headaches, etc.). Cut your caffeine intake down to 75% of your usual. Since your body is used to 2,100 mg a day - for the first week - only allow yourself 1, 575 mg a day. The second week - 1, 050 mg a day. The third week - 525 mg a day. The fourth week - you could be down to 300 mg a day or off it completely depending on your choice. I hope this helps. Remember there is hidden caffeine in things like chocolate and some medicines (like Excedrin). Here's to you being in charge of your life and not caffeine!

QUESTION:
i think i overdosed on coffee/energy drinks today...how do i get rid of it without seeing doctor? no insurance?
i just started a new job at walmart, as an overnight shelf stocker. my hours are 10 pm to 7am. i worked on the 6th, got home on the 7th, in the morning. woke up for work at 6pm, had a cup of coffee, when i first got to work, i got a large dunkin donuts iced coffee, on lunch break i had a rockstar coffee flavor energy drink, along with a 5hr. energy shot. i felt fine from that.after work i had a couple cups of coffee at my house, and decided to stay awake all day. my friend came down to visit. then around noon, i had a bottle of mountain dew (20 oz) with my pizza. with supper at 6:00 i had another cup of coffee. i still felt fine, just a little tired. my frind decided he was going to just stay the night, so i started a small bon fire in my backyard. i knew i wasnt going to stay awake much longer so i put a full pot of coffee on, it is a 12 cup pot. my friend had 2 cups of it, i had the rest. this was in the time period of like 2 hours. i have now been awake for almost 30 hours consecutively. my heart is racing a little bit, i keep getting cold chills, cant sleep, muscles are aching, and i feel like i am going to vommit. what can i do from home to get rid of the caffeine from my system? i am 19 yrs. old, and 280lbs. if that helps any....
i have been drinking alot of water, but i just want the achyness to go away. my calves are starting to cramp up really badly. i dont normally drink energy drinks or the 5 hour energy shots. usually a cup of coffee or two is enough.-
ANSWER:
caffeine overdose is no fun. I had a bad experience one time when I was a kid... Never again! In general you really should not consume much caffeine. I use too and I think it still negatively effects me. Also heavy use is physically addictive.
You feel like your are going to vomit because your body knows that you poisoned yourself. What it is doing now is trying to burn through the drug faster. It is sweeting out toxins which is making you cold. Also your metabolism is being forced to speed up as your body puts everything in overdrive to burn through the drug faster.
It sounds like you are going to make it through this one. All of the caffeine has been absorb by now. I'm not sure if the doctors can do anything except for monitor your vitals and electrolytes. Maybe they can do more... It could be worth it to call for a consultation.
I don't think you are at a lethal dose but its not good for your heart. I would avoid getting to alarmed and I would concentrate on being calm. Feel your heart beat and try to mentally slow it some. You should be fine but breath deeply and keep a phone by you in case you think you are having a life threatening heart issue (heart attack). Hopefully you will be fine. Drink a cup or two of sleepy time tea and watch a movie. Your not going to be sleeping for awhile longer. If you have a friend with some pot today might be a good day to try it. It will help with the negative symptoms. You can try taking a single alive an hour or so before you decide to go to bed. You should sleep better without the headache. Avoid bright lights until you get some sleep. Turn the contrast down on your flat screen and monitor. Avoid additional caffeine for at least a few days. Don't drink too much water, stay at recommended 8 or so cups a day. Better yet, have some gatorade and a slice of lime (the acid is a type of ion or "electrolyte"). Caffeine is going to dehydrate you, so is what your body is doing now. Adding water is fine but too much is a bad thing especially if you are already short on electrolytes. It might help a little bit to eat some food, avoid junk food or anything high in nitrates or saturated fat. Vitamins are good but you have way too much B vitamins already so avoid anything with more B's. Fruits and veggies are naturally vitamin rich. Don't drink alcohol, it would add more strain on your heart.
You are going to be hungover from the experience and you might have done a little long term damage to your body. I'd say mentally you probably aged your self about a year, maybe a bit less. Be extra careful to get plenty of sleep from now on. It's going to be easier for you to develop sleeping problems. I'd say don't do this again but I don't think someone overdoses on caffeine twice. Stay away from other uppers! They will make you crazy I've seen it first hand. Take care of yourself man!

QUESTION:
Information about energy drink advertising on trucks/vans???
I've seen Monster/ Rockstar/ Red Bull trucks (and vans) all over town and I got to thinking. Is that a full time job? Or are these guys just getting paid to advertise on their cars? How would I go about doing this myself???-
ANSWER:
It could be either. But, selling ad space on your vehicle has become quite common. Check your area for a "transit-advertising" firm.

QUESTION:
Energy Drinks don't work at all for me..why?
Ok,for awhile i've noticed that energy drinks, like monster, redbull, rockstar,NOS etc. never work for me..I work a 12 hour job and i go in at 5 am 4 days a week...So i usually depend on them, but today,I tried 5 hour energy,i took the entire bottle this morning, about 10 minutes later I was dozing off...what's the problem? how come they don't work? thanks!
Actually Kate,I didn't really start until earlier this year and being totally honest, since the beginning they really didn't help at all..I really thought the 5 hour energy drink would help, but just like everything else it didn't...I don't see how I ever gained any tolerance since they didn't help from the start.-
ANSWER:
Because your body builds up a tolerance to the repetitive use of the same substances .
You have hit the "wall" , limit of what your body will respond to with the boosters ,
( most of which are just excessive caffeine except for redbull ) .Suggest you find an older book called Medical Makeover ,
As it talks about this for a number of things , including sugar , and caffeine and nicotine . . .Also gives a plan for restoring your system after people have burned themselves out on stuff .
good luck

QUESTION:
I can't function socially unless on Energy Drinks? Worried for health!?
I realised last week that I need to have a can off Monster or Rockstar present in order for me to be very bright and friendly with everyone! People seem to love me for it!
The day I'm not pouring the caffeinated junk into my gut, I am shy and depressed and no one seems to interact with me as I'm boring. The fact that the Energy Drinks help me do my job as I'm meant too (interact with people and close deals due to my personality and confidence), when I am off them, I can't concentrate :/
Any ideas how I can kick this, I can live without Energy Drinks, not addicted as easily not have them all week/month/year but I'd probably get fired and not have any friends due to being a sad, depressed guy all the time!
-
ANSWER:
You could switch to coffee, which is also caffeinated. If you have high blood pressure, caffeine will be slightly negative for your health, but the antioxidants in coffee give you a slight health positive.Since there's probably coffee in your office, it will be cheaper than energy drinks.

QUESTION:
What do you think is making me feel like crap?
Hello.
OK, so 2 weeks ago I left my job. Since then I haven't been really looking for anything else. I have been taking a little break. There are some problems, though. Every day I feel like ****. At night I can't sleep. I don't know how this started. The time I fall asleep ranges from about 1 to 5AM. I hate it. I have tried sleeping pills, and reading, etc.
I know one of the reasons could be b/c lately I have been drinking those Rockstar energy drinks, so I will have energy to work out.
I wake up between 10am-1pm, usually. I can't get anything accomplished. I feel dizzy and sooo out of it during the day, like I'm on drugs. I know it's not my diet. I have been eating very healthy. I also have a headache almost every day. So what is causing this?? Just my sleep? I just want to feel better. I have no energy.-

Energy drinks cause you to crash later on because you are repaying borrowed energy.Perhaps you need more energy enzymes from more fruit and vegetables.

QUESTION:
Is it okay to major in english for a desired career in broadcast journalism?
You see, my first choice of career would be "writer".
Novelist, possibly essayist, to be exact.
Not so much columnist...Anyway, because writing is such a volatile career path, I feel like it's necessary to have a backup other than "english professor".
And that's where broadcast journalism comes in! I'd really like to be on camera. I feel like I already have the necessary skills and natural abilities- they just need to be perfected. I figure broadcast journalism grad school and an internship or two would sufficiently take care of this no matter what my undergrad major is.
I'm also open to other on-camera hosting or presentation jobs. I'd probably be set for those jobs too, as I plan to become a promoter for Rockstar or Monster energy drinks or some club/even promotion company... like one of those girls at the events who gets their picture taken and hands out product.
I don't know... I'd just really rather not major in communications or production or journalism because above all I'd like to write.
Am I delusional or does my little plan have a chance of working?
-
ANSWER:
yeah ,of course. I am a journalist and i majored in english before

QUESTION:
I have energy problems, any ideas?
Hi guys, I'm always at a lack of energy. I've been trying to figure this out for a while now... I don't undereat, I eat very healthy. I have good sleep habits, I usually get around 8hrs a day. I don't have a job thats physically demanding. I tried just about every trick in the book. If I drink coffee or a rockstar or something of that nature I feel fine for a while and then crash even harder once I come off the caffeine rush. Right now I get very little caffeine and I do better without it. Things like listening to loud of upbeat music, sunlight, and cold showers don't have any effect on me having any more energy. I've tried things like drinking orange juice or sometimes something sweet and that doesn't help either. What could be the problem? I'm a pretty healthy guy. Now that I have health insurance i'm going to get a chuckup, but in the meantime I'm curious.-
ANSWER:
Just a suggestion, have the doc check you for anemia. Do you eat much iron? Found mainly in red meat & leafy green veggies. If your iron count is low, your energy levels will wain.
Starting a workout routine can help up your energy levels too, and take a B vitamin.

QUESTION:
Need help staying awake at night for work?
I work an overnight job. My shifts are long (14 and 1/2 and 13 and 1/2) and for about 7 hours straight there is absolutely nothing to do but sit here. Due to previous engagements, I often have to stay up for awhile after my shift ends, making it so I don't get enough sleep for work that night. Any good tips on how to stay awake while I'm here?Note: I can't sleep here so that isn't an option, I refuse to drink coffee, and for the past 5 years I have been so utterly addicted to Rockstar's that energy drinks no longer have an affect on me. Last night, I took two 5 hour energy shots, one right after another, and it did absolutely nothing for me.
-
ANSWER:
It is very important for you to be getting proper rest. Those of us who have worked primarily at night have developed significant health problems. Only recently did the AMA come out with guideline addressing this. In women, breast cancer rates accelerate. You must get at least 8 hours of sleep in a room that is absolutely dark, and cool enough that you need to use a blanket. You must must trick your brain into believing it is night time. Artificial light is the worse thing for humans. We were meant to go to bed when the sun goes down, and get up when it comes up.
At night, during that period of time between when you go to sleep and start dreaming, your brain's ability to absorb data is shut down and everything in temporary storage is transferred to permanent storage through the creation of Chemical Bonds, and Synaptic Connectors, as needed. While you are dreaming, the data is being categorized.
At night, your body washes out all the Lactic Acid that has built up in your muscles during the day, replacing it with Oxygen.
At night, your immune system goes into limited standby mode to regenerate and repair injuries, such as sore and strained muscles.
At night, prior to the ages of full maturity, all growth and development takes place. Guys, this means that until age 30, if you are not getting the proper amount of sleep, you are not going to reach your full potential length with your tally whacker.
When you wake up, provided you got a proper amount of sleep, your body and your brain are refreshed and ready for the day's activities, or night's activities, as in your case.
Note, you should also get an artificial sunlight bulbs.

that was the most immature answer ever..anyone else?
Yeah I thought it was just in my head, but I actually feel sleepier after drinking anything with energy properties.-
ANSWER:
Some people just do not react to them.
Myself, for instance. (And I'm not fat.)
Energy drinks can have the opposite of their intended purpose.
Some people get drowsy from drinking them. (Like me.)
And, if you drink them constantly, it can resulte in dehydration which causes fatigue.
