Vitamins For Energy

Having a healthy lifestyle that eats up half of the budget is now a thing of the past. There are ways to maintain a healthy body without having to spend too much.

In order to maintain good health and a healthy wallet, you should know where and when to buy the vitamins and minerals you need. But first, try to understand what your body needs or what are your deficiencies in order for you to determine which vitamins and minerals to buy.

Here are some tips you may find useful during your health planning:

- Consulting a dietitian and a physician would be a great start. Ask your dietician about calorie and food intake. Make sure you both understand your goal of keeping you in shape while taking the necessary steps in maintaining a healthy body

- Consult your physician if you need to have a general check up and lab work to determine if you have a vitamin and mineral deficiency. If you are perfectly healthy, it is also advisable to take some vitamins and minerals to keep your healthy all throughout.

- After you have consulted with the professionals, try to look for stores that offer good quality vitamins and minerals. Normally, minerals are quite expensive especially if they are off the rack. Vitamins are also a bit costly, but you can find better, if not great, deals in the market.

- Try to look for good bargains through the internet. Nowadays there are hundreds of sellers, retail online stores and online distributors that offer the best discounts and deals. But always check for the online store’s eligibility and credibility before buying from them. Make sure to have them checked prior to your actual purchase.

- Vitamins and minerals need not be too expensive especially if their ingredients are all-natural and if they were made locally. Make sure to check on the ingredients and the manufacturing locations when you purchase. Make your own research before you make an actual purchase so you’ll know the difference between products and online store offers.

- Look for great deals such as a buy-one-get-one for free or a free shipment for every bulk order. You can get good deals and a lot of discounts when you purchase in bulk. Some websites offer flat shipping rates, so grab that opportunity whenever you can.

- Buy vitamins and minerals on special occasions. Some websites or online stores offer 50% discounts during their anniversaries or during holidays and special occasions. You may even get a 70% discount and other special offers.

- Look for discount coupons, frequent buyer or VIP cards to avail a steady 5-10% discount from your favorite online or offline vitamin and mineral stores. This will really help you cut your regular purchase on vitamins and minerals. Ask for a discount card during your first purchase and if you think the store is selling great vitamins and minerals, stick to that store and make regular purchases using your VIP or discount card.

- Perks and privileges are sometimes offered to regular customers aside from the VIP and discount card. This is one way of saying *Thank You* to frequent and regular customers. So take advantage on those special offers and perks.

Remember these simple tips when you are planning to purchase your choice of vitamins and minerals because it really pays if you know how to buy wisely without hurting your wallet.

I think that vegetarian foods give all type of energy and vitamins to body and it is better foods for get all type of energy.

    • ANSWER:
if you think about it, most animals that are used for food are vegetarian! cows are full of protein that their bodies made from eating plants that made their protein from energy gathered from the sun. the sun is the ultimate source of energy on the earth, and the "closer" your food source is to that source, the healthier the food usually. because of this, vegetarian foods--specifically the vegetation and fresh foods in general-- will nourish your body with energy, vitamins and whatever you were trying to talk about. This is not always true though because there are still many foods that are veg. or vegan that are not healthy or nutritious in any way! also, most people who go veg. eat way more dairy which is what i believe to be the worst(it is a horrible source of calcium, look it up :-) ), so watch out!

I did like the vitamin called Alive vitamin B but want somthing stronger.

Ginko Biloba and Ginseng are a good combination for helping give your brain a quick boost. Ginko is supposed to be good for helping development of long term memory and ginseng helps provide mental alertness.

However, the best way to boost your mental energy is also the best way to boost your physical energy. Work out. The endorphines released from physical energy are a natural stimulant for the brain. In addition, the more in shape you are, the less likely you are to feel lethargic during the course of the day.

  12. QUESTION:
Parents: Do any of you take supplements or specific vitamins for energy and/or mood?
Or something similar? What do you take and do you think it is helpful?

    • ANSWER:
I was taking 5-HTP for a while, but I stopped because it was making me tired during the day (once the baby was born -- it made me need more sleep than I normally get (which is 2 to 3 hours)).I was taking it to help me sleep, but I noticed it helped make me less of a b*tch, though (maybe that was the extra sleep, I don't know). Anything that helps to raise serotonin levels is a good bet if you're looking for a mood-boost.

I have meds and vitamins, that together, improve my mood, but none are specifically meant to do that (it's just easier to be pleasant when you don't feel like sh*t).

Ooh...I can attest to B12 too...I get the shots though...not specifically for energy, but it does do that too...I get a shot every 2 weeks when I get my blood drawn...otherwise it might be a pain in the azz to do.

    Vitamins, energy. Carbs?
Since vitamins are organic how come they don't give energy? I know carbs, proteins, etc. Give energy. But how come vitamins do not? What about those energy drinks?

Also, I have been excercising my Lats (back) for 3 months now. And I have not seen much improvement. I notice an increase in strength but not size. What am I doing wrong? (I lift heavy).

    • ANSWER:
Vitamins don't have energy (calories) they're just vitamins. Only fat, carbs, and protein can give energy. The body's preferred source of energy is carbs. Energy drinks are a waste of money because most of them, like Gatorade, are just sugar water.

I'm sure they've improved a little, you just don't notice because it's on yourself. Try doing a heavy exercise first, then move onto different exercises. Train your lats from all different angles. Use exercises like pull-downs, pull-ups, rows, etc. Use different grips and different bars. Train from any angle you can think of and use proper form. Also remember to eat enough protein.

I've tried vitamins, energy pills, everything. This disease has stopped my from doing so much. I'm only getting older. Any suggestions would be a great help to me.

    • ANSWER:
Get proper treatment for your thyroid disease.

As a long time sufferer, you should know that the dosage you were prescribed 12 years ago might be different from the dosage you need today. You have to have your thyroid levels checked regularly. That means at least once a year, once you are stable and feeling well. Until then, check every 8 weeks.

And note that I wrote that you need to have your THYROID levels checked. That means free T3 and free T4. TSH isn't a thyroid hormone. It is a pituitary hormone. It doesn't affect your symptoms. Only t3 and T4 affect how you feel.

Vitamins are key to excellent overall health and energy! A good Friend recommended (at the very least) one should take Vitamin C and Calcium. Personally, when I don't take Vitamins I honestly have zero energy and no get up & go. A personal trainer also recommended to me to eat 5 to 8 times daily which will help keep you from getting tired & sleepy. Also *** stop eating sugar!*** I recently spoke with a Health Food Lady whom told me too much sugar becomes fungus which then becomes cancer! So instead choose Fruits! Another good Friend once said the best he ever felt in his life was when he ate only Fruits & Vegies! A Nurse I know said one only needs to drink Water- for everything else has too much sugar! (also note; A Doctor once said sometimes when one is hungry, one only need drink Water- for one is just de-hydrated!) Congrats and Kudos to You for giving up red meat! I learned on Earth Day 2009 when one no longer consumes red meat- after one year- one has saved an Acre of Trees! Mother Earth Thanks you! :)

Whats the best vitamins to take for energy?
I'm a full time student and not used to sitting in a chair all day, by my second class I feel run down and tired. Not to mention these aren't the most exciting classes. I want to start taking vitamins that will give me energy all day without a huge crash, like caffene gives you sometimes. I'm also 24 if that helps any.

    • ANSWER:
If you are lacking energy, vitamins are not really the solution. There are many other things that can help:

Eat a healthy big breakfast, like oatmeal and fruit. Eat enough that you don't get hungry for 5 hours.
Avoid sodas, fried food, junk food and empty calorie snacks. Eat lots of vegetables, whole grains, fruit, and beans.
Sit up straight in your classes and practice deep breathing if you feel tired. Breathe in very, very deep, letting your stomach be soft and expand as you inhale. As you exhale, pull your belly button in toward your spine and hold it there until you inhale again. Deep breathing sends lots of oxygen through your system, especially to your brain.
Since you are a student, you will probably be using your computer a lot. Don't use it for unnecessary stuff like playing games or chatting.
Do some exercise every day, even if it is just a 30 minute walk.
Get some sunshine every day, or take a vitamin D supplement.
Avoid alcohol. Avoid caffeine, or limit it to a cup or two of green tea a day.
Get enough sleep at night. As a student, you are using your brain a lot and you need rest for it to recover.
Best wishes. I hope these ideas help you.

  32. QUESTION:
    Vitamins for energy?
I'm vegetarian, and I have low energy. I don't think I had higher energy as a meat eater, and I'm not going to eat meat again.

I was wondering what kind of suplements I cold take that would raise my energy levels. I've heard iron, what else?

    • ANSWER:
I don't supplements unless I'm sick. Diet plays a slight role in your energy level but since you said you don't think you had higher energy as a meat eater I wouldn't pin it on that. I think you just have low adrenaline and need to get your heart pumping a bit. It takes a week or so of exercise before your body realy picks up. Start out with a quick workout. I use a lot of dance workout video's. My favorite is the Dancing with the Stars Workout. I do the warm up, one dance routine, and the cool day when I get up and at night I do yoga from my 28 day yoga book. It gives me plenty of energy, I've slimmed down and toned some muscle, and I increased my flexibility. Find something that works for you. If you like to run go running in the morning, if you like marital arts practice some for a few minutes. Doing it in the morning helps your blood flow and gets your adrenaline up. If you do feel you need a multi-vitamin then GNC has good vegetarian one. They even make a vegan line of supplements.

    • ANSWER:
I'm not sure if you're referring to fen-phen. But, you should stay away from those types of drugs. I tried everything to lose weight and ended up landing in the hospital once from lack of nutrients.

After my 3rd child I had to do something to lose weight, but I think the best thing is to exercise, stay healthy and eat right.

  34. QUESTION:
Vitamin Energy v. other Energy Drinks?
I have been drinking Vitamin Water for a few years now and I like it. Somedays I try to avoid pop and drink the Vitamin Water instead...now they're making Vitamin Energy which basically tastes the same as Vitamin Water but with slight carbonation. I haven't tried an other energy drinks (Monster, Red Bull, etc) because the serious amount of sugar and caffeine in them seems too much. I just want a little boost...does anyone know a comparison between Glaceau's new Vitamin Energy and typical energy drinks? Sugar, caffeine, etc? And what of this "natural" caffeine that it claims to have? Any insight is welcome. Thanks:)

    • ANSWER:
Try sugar free red bull. Vitamins dont give you energy. Caffiene and sugar do, both make you crash. Ginseng helps cushion the crash and avoid the jitteries you get with caffiene. Also, try out diet pepsi max as it has caffien and ginseng. And go 1 week per month straight with zero caffiene.

  37. QUESTION:
does prenatal vitamins really help with energy?
i've had no energy for a while now. i'm 12 weeks pregnant. i was wondering if taking prenatal vitamins help with energy? I haven't been taking them because every time i do i throw up so i've been waiting for my nausea and vomiting to get better before i start taking them again. Also what can i do to help my nausea and vomiting. Ive tried small meals and saltine crackers and nothing helps. Suggestions????

    • ANSWER:
They do help. Try taking them after you eat (even though they say to take on an empty stomach) and take them right before bed. You'll sleep through any nausea (as long as somethings in your tummy) and you'll be more energized when you wake up. I was sick through the 6th month of my 1st pregnancy and I'm pregnant again (10 wks). That's the only way I can take my prenatals. If you can't keep anything down and start to lose weight (like I did) ask your doc for a pill that will help, I forget the name but it starts with a P....good luck.

How long does it take to regain energy after opiate withdrawl?
I know everyone is different, it has been 7 weeks since my husband cold turkey put down pain killers, is addiction was only 4 months in duration, but he can not regain energy. We have tried B complex and flax seed, suggested by the Dr. Also the energy vitamin packs at GNC for men. I don't want him to become addicted to Mt Dew and Red Bull, or other energy drinks. I just ordered Maca today, a chinese organic product. He wants to stay O-natural! Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
the thing is that opiates flood the body with enorphins. when addiction starts the body no longer produces enophins because the drug did it for them.

but after detoxing it usualy takes a month or two for the body to get back into the swing of things. he NEEDS to excersize. its the best but also the most uncomfortable for someone in his condition. it will be painful and he realy wont like it but eventualy the endophins start flowing and he exersizing will be easy

  42. QUESTION:
Which is better water or energy/vitamin drinks?
I posted similar question earlier, but this tiem about water and energy/vitamin drinks. Friend and I had a debate about which was good for you, I said water he says the energy/vitamin drinks. He thinks water isn't good for you because it doesn't have any nutrients and thinks that water is only useful for cleaning the body. Anyone care to side with me :D

    • ANSWER:
I side with you! Water all the way. Water doesn't have nutrients, your friend argues? Then eat food! That's what it's there for! Energy drinks don't have nutrients, just buttloads of sugar, and many have dangerous amounts of caffeine in them. Not very nutritious, not to mention water's purpose is to HYDRATE; all that caffeine and sugar just makes you more thirsty and dehydrated. Vitamin Water is OK, but again, loaded with sugar. Just one bottle of the regular 16oz. size has 13% of your entire day's worth of carbs. You really should only have one serving of complex carbs a day if you can help it, and one serving of "good" carbs (like whole grain pasta, bread, etc.). Vitamin water makes you think you're being good, but then if you eat any kind of dessert or junk food you're having twice the serving of sugar you would get if you just drank plain water and treated yourself to one piece of junk food. And you may think Vitamin Water is better 'cause you're drinking "water" with "vitamins" in it, how can you go wrong?- but all that unnecessary sugar just takes away from its nutritional value. And I'm not sure about this, I'm obviously no doctor, but is it possible to overdose on vitamins? Not OD and die obviously lol, but have it cause minor changes in your mood, sleeping habits, appetite, cause headaches, stomach aches, nausea, other types of troubles. Sometimes I wonder if over-fortified foods and drinks are really more bad than good. You're only supposed to have so much a day to keep everything in your body balanced and working right; drinking more than one bottle of vitamin water a day, or taking super-fortified vitamins for that matter, might not be a good idea.

Sooo, all in all, nothing beats plain old water. You drink liquids to hydrate yourself, not get nutrition - that's what food is for. "Killing two birds with one stone" and skipping a meal and replacing it w/ a Vitamin Water is not the way it works. Eating crappy junkfood and drinking a Vitamin Water doesn't fool your body. I'm not against Vitamin Water, I drink it for the taste instead of soda or juice drinks (wayyy more sugar), but I don't drink them thinking that it's healthier and thus not drinking real water anymore.

  44. QUESTION:
How many b12 vitamins can I take?
I started taking B12 vitamins for energy. The bottle says one serving is one gummy. In one gummy there is 250 mcg. Iwas wondering If I could increase the serving to get more energy. Can you even overdose on a vitamin?

    • ANSWER:
You should take the Vitamin B complex and not just B12. This group of vitamins works together to produce energy. The vitamin B group is a complex of several vitamins grouped together because they have similar function in the body with great benefits. All B vitamins help the body to convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is "burned" to produce energy, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B complex vitamins are necessary for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly.
Al Nothing works instantly, you need to take it at least a week to see results. You can not over dose on B12 as it is water soluble and the body only uses what it needs.

What kind of vitamins can I take for energy?
I am a 19 year old guy. I am a full time college student and I work 20 hours a week doing stock work at a retail store. Usually to get through the day I drink some Monster energy drinks. But it gets expensive paying a drink.

I am asking if anyone knows and can recommend if I should take vitamins instead to give me energy. I figure they are much healthier, effective, and cheaper. But I don't know what kind to take.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
There are a lot of options for energy. You can try Stress B complex, which has a lot of Vitamin Bs in it. The great thing about Vitamin B is that you can never have too much about it, meaning you can't overdose on it. You can get it at Wal-Mart or other pharmacies. There's also something called Emergen-C that you add to water or juice. It comes in all kinds of flavors, so I'm sure you can find something you like. And you can also eat more protein, esp. in the morning. Eating eggs topped with cheese, a slice of whole wheat toast, and a glass of skim milk in the morning would be a great option! Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep.
If you're just looking for supplements though, you can take the Stress B Complex vitamins, the Emergen-C vitamins, and drink a protein shake all in the same day to give you some energy. Hope this helps!

    • ANSWER:
Vitamins will not give you energy and those in real food aremuch, much more beneficial than any synthetic ones, which can lead to some mineral deficiencies.

Research indicates that synthetic vitamins may actually cause nutritional deficiencies. When you take a synthetic vitamin, it needs the co-factors normally found in the whole food, in order to complete its action. If they are not in the foods you eat, it will draw the co-factors from your body. You may feel good for a while but when the co-factors run out, you will begin to feel worse.

The majority of vitamins that are sold in pharmacies, grocery stores, and vitamin shops are synthetic vitamins, which are only isolated portions of the vitamins that occur naturally in food.
Whole food provide complete vitamins rather than fractions of them. In many cases, whole foods also provide the minerals that are necessary for optimal vitamin activity.
