If you really want a jump start, Robusto coffee has even more caffeine (2x) that of the better Arabica beans. The only problem would be that it's more bitter & will need milk & sugar. It will still be better for you than any soda or energy drink.

      You should be figuring out a sports drink or two (like Ultima or Cytomax), and figuring out how you want to handle fueling and electrolyte replacement via things like Sport Beans, gels, fig newtons, whatever.

      When training for specific events, it's usually good to first find out what, if anything, is offered on the course. You should train with the particular sports drink, etc. to be provided so that you're used to it. And if nothing is provided, or if it's a sports drink that lacks carbs, etc., you need to strategize around that.

      Instead of energy drinks I would try taking vitamin b complex (but make sure you eat a good meal before taking the vitamins)

      Have a cup of herbal tea containing ginseng or ginkgo biloba. The herbs naturally minimize the negative effects of stress hormones and fortify those all-important adrenals, leaving you with more energy to cope. Look for teas whose labels tout their stress-relieving benefits.

      ave a power snack when you can, a quarter cup mixed nuts and some yogurt will help sustain your energy. It is low in sugar but high in protein and healthy fat, this combo digests slowly, giving you a slight energy surge without knocking your blood sugar out of whack.

      If you really want the energy drinks I would try the 5 hour energy, it seems like the one with the least negative side effects.

      If you've never had an energy drink before, it will most likely make you very alert, but also like you can't sit still. Like you have to moving around constantly. This might make you unable to focus on your test. There are a ton of energy drinks out there, my favorite are the coffee Monster energy drinks (favorite is mean bean). Amp is pretty good also.

      Try Guarana. Its made as a soft drink that tastes most similar to cream soda. And I recommend you drink it room temperature. The taste is so delicate that when I bought a can cold, it tasted like I was drinking cold water. Yuck.
      Also, if you want it in pill form, go to the GNC and get it.
      Guarana has a form of caffeine in it called Guarnine. The pill form says it has 36% 'caffeine' in it.
      I just looked it up and it says it's a central nervous system simulant. Sounds like something you are looking for.
      I take it every morning and grew up on the soft drink. Enjoy.

      I don't believe in commercial energy drinks. I think they are worthless and even harmful.

      I would recommend a few glasses of freshly squeezed lemon in water with no sugar. Try it, it will make you feel great and it is a healthy natural alternative to the hyped up "energy drinks."

      Cold frappucino's from Starbucks are the best for me. They come in a glass They come in Vanilla, Coffee, and Mocha. Small and tall ones. Probably not a good idea to get jittery though. I use these at my job because I run all day at work. It does the trick for me!

      There is currently no energy drink that gives you "hours of energy now with no crash!" Even though I took that quote from a commercial for an energy drink it is false. Think of energy drinks like throwing a ball up into the air, the more energy you get from the drink, the higher the ball goes, and the harder the ball hits the ground (the crash).

      Although illegal, cocain would be the best energy boosting product if it weren't addictive and damaging.

      Your right...a game is more important than an education. Already your math is bad....you are wanting to stay awake for 37 hours and not 15.

      I have a local roaster make what he calls "rocket fuel" for me. It is 75% Robusta bean (for the high caffeine content, strong taste, and thick crema) and 25% Kenya AA (or Kona) to reduce the acidity and add flavorful undertones.

      I tried to see what my limit was with this blend. Using a double packed with a hard tamp, I knocked back 3 shots and I found myself sweating and shaking....man, that was a helluva buzz (wired for hours). Then use the 24oz Redbulls to level off.

      i really like XS energy drinks, you can get them in different flavors and really do help you get energized! and everybody's different but i don't crash and burn a few hours after drinking one.

    What is the best energy drink/pill/supplement?
    I've been looking for a daily 'boost' without that crash and strung out feeling. I've tried the red bulls, rockstars, 5 hour energy and such.... but those are pretty pricey. 5 hour energy is pretty good though (no shakiness or crash). Any other energy producers recommended? Thanks in advance.

      i really like rockstar!! but there is a lot to try!! like monster is pretty good i guess a lot of my friends like it! umm...amp, full throtle... its different for everyone! they have different effects on different people! but ... i dont know!!! rockstar juiced gets me really energized but there are a lot of energy drinks out there that i havent tried!! joker is good too! oo and buzzed!

    I get most caffeine from coffee in the morning, but really have no desire for it in the afternoon, nor do I want to put more caffeine in my body for the day. Anything that I can take to feel more alert without shocking my body with sugar and stimulants?

      I like those 5 hour energy shots. I like to get straight to the point without having to chug a whole energy drink beforehand and then running straight to the restroom because I drank too much

    What is the best energy drink that you have used and discovered? Or what else have you used to stay awake?
    I have found that Red Bull does nothing. I like Rip It and Diet Mt. Dew. Please suggest more. I'm a college student and stay up late many nights!

      Sobe Adrenaline is pretty good at keeping you awake, plus it has a nice citrus flavor that's much better than Red Bull. Also, if you can find a store that sells Jolt cola I'd try that too; it has more caffeine than most sodas. Good luck! :-)
